Fn Valentine, someone remind him this is not hockey.
That's hilarious. Yeah I'm amazed at how often CBs try to tackle with a "body check" instead of wrapping up or simply grabbing a leg. All of their training seems to go out the window in those moments.

Oh well, still a great, great win and a sweep of the "mighty" Lions. Who saw that coming at the end of the PS? Not me.

Studs:Wicks Watson Love Parsons and yes I’m giving MLF a deserved stud
Duds: Valentine, practice your tackling skills, Nixon reminder penalties hurt the team dude
That's a good catch on Nixon. He was called for holding, negating what would have been another sack for Parsons.

Nixon is a bigger liability than an asset, IMO. He's made a number of penalties at exactly the wrong moment. Yesterday wasn't the first.

The first reports I read on Wyatt's ankle is that he tore ligaments. It's not a 'clean' break. Ig true, that probably means a much longer recovery jeopardizing the 2026 season. Without a first round pick, it's going to be difficult to replace him in the draft. While cap space seems to be more fluid than a fixed sum, with The Parsons deal, may limit the Packers to a 'cheaper' vet on his third contract.

Like I said many times before, most teams suffer injuries. When the Packers get them, they massively impact two seasons.

If we are isolating to just one play I guess Love is a dud because he missed Melton for that open TD down the side that was a chip shot…Watson for the one drop he had…and Parsons for giving up the edge on the one massive run outside…

Studs without watching All22:

Love
- He was great and we still didn’t even ask him to cook as much as he can IMO.

Wicks - Big time game for him

Doubs - If you watch that dude was nasty good today, blocking and massive clutch/difficult catches everywhere.

Williams - He is projecting himself up to be one of our best defenders overall.

Parsons - duh

Duds

Nixon - numerous mental weaknesses illustrated acting like a child, DUMB penalties…

I struggle to say anyone else for the game was a dud
Agree that Williams has quietly become one of the most important players on D. The guy just always seems to be around the ball. He had a great rookie season, and he's following it up with another.

And that TD from Love to Doubs reminded me so much of Rodgers and Adams running that same route. That's a credit to Doubs' release and footwork, and selling an inside route before going the other way.

Nah Dan is straight up stupid sometimes. All of our fourth downs were agreeessive for sure but not stupid level.
There was a time when I admired Campbell for being so aggressive on 4th down. That sends a message of confidence to the offense.

But sometimes it's better to take 3 points or punt, especially in a tight game. I think he's failed on the last 6 4th down tries. Stupid is a good way to describe it.

STUDS
MLF for opening up the offense. For calling plays that had a lot of motion going on behind the LOS. For faking a handoff one way then going the other way. For having the HUTZPAH to lay it all on the line several times during the game. What a change!!!

OFFENSE for executing those plays well enough to keep us ahead the whole game.

LOVE and WICKS for closing it out and keeping the lions from getting another shot

NEUTRAL:
Defense. I cant put our D in the studs column for this game but i also cant put then in the duds column either basically because they delivered a 24pt game when I expected them to keep the lions under 20 They had some lapses there where they allowed first downs when they had the lions at 3rd and long. They also caught a lucky break when the lions receiver was wide open along sidelines but dropped a pass right in his hands that would have been a 1st down and kept their drive alive

this is funny (hilarious really) and also saddening. Little disappointed in myself for lack of patience.

I think I’m growing weary of some thoughts and need to not let it get to me as it did today.
I didn't see the comments you made during the game. That said, it's easy to be super critical in the moment - I surely do it.

And sometimes it's best to just let stupid things pass. In my case, it's never worth the energy or the anxiety it causes me. Almost nothing positive comes from a first reaction to anger.

In any case, it was a great win yesterday - something we can probably all agree on!

The only way a trade of this magnitude gets done is if both President and GM are on the same page about it. The “who initiated what” can only be speculated on, but both were certainly involved to some degree.

My guess would be that Policy made it clear that Gute would have the organizational support to make a “big splash” in the offseason and Parsons in fact was the “splash.”

There was speculation about Parsons weeks leading up to the trade so I’m sure there were plenty of internal conversations about it.

But the 3 biggest plays of the day were the 4th down conversions, and the players never get a chance to execute them if Lafleur doesn't call them in the first place. And at least on that last one, he asked Love what he wanted to run, and then agreed when Love told him.

That's a significant departure from what we're used to seeing from Lafleur. As I said earlier in the thread, if those 3 plays don't all work, I don't think we win the game. I hope we see more of this "all gas, no brakes" philosophy going forward, especially in the playoffs, where every single game is the only game in the entire season.

I'm no doctor, but the more I look at it, the more that makes sense. If that's it, it's a terrible injury for the guy (going to be very painful, and there'd be a difficult surgery), but he'd be back by training camp. Krumrie broke his leg in the Super Bowl in February, and was ready to go in July. It's going to be a massive blow to our pass rush, but hopefully a couple of guys will step up.

I guess I'd rather it was that then the ligaments. I tore just a couple of ligaments in my ankle in a construction accident in 78, and I still have occasional trouble with it.

I thought of that too, but decided I'd be more comfortable waiting til later in the season. But with the Wyatt injury, that Parsons trade suddenly is enormous. Priceless, even.

And I think that a couple of years down the road, we'll be looking back at the 22, 23, and even the 24 drafts as A+ pieces in the puzzle.

Still wish we'd taken Cooper Dejean instead of Jordan Morgan, though. But even Ted Williams struck out sometimes.
I agree with a caveat. I do like the aggressiveness. But the times have to be right. Can't be like detroit and just go for it all the time. When they went for it at mid field on 4th and 4; that wasn't a good decision. But when we did it at the end of the game; it was. We were going to have to keep them out of the endzone. From the 50 or the 25 didn't matter much. But Wicks was covered like a blanket (on both ). Would certainly like it if he was more open. Imho

Duds: Lion fans and the Media saying that "The Game was rigged", due to the Packer timeout call on 4th and short.

First of all, do they actually know that MLF wasn't yelling "timeout" as he ran down the sidelines? All FOX showed was him signaling "timeout" after Belton moved.

Second, did they keep watching the game? A more than obvious pass interference wasn't called on a Lion DB against Watson, who probably otherwise catches the ball and picks up the 1st down, instead, Packers have to punt.

Third, did they see the Lions on the series after that punt? 3rd and long, incomplete pass but oh wait....away from the ball, before the pass was thrown, a Lion WR runs down a Packer DB and yup....."illegal contact Green Bay, automatic 1st down Lions."

The media loves to build up the "controversary" for clicks.

Stud: Matt LaFleur. While his plays were still coming in too slow most of the day, he strapped on a big pair of balls on those 4th down calls.

Stud: One stud that I have not seen mentioned is Musgrave. He made a crucial catch heading toward the end zone. I was very surprised.
Yes he did. And he was pretty well open. And that is where they should be throwing to him! Down the field a bit. Not two yards down field. Last week he got a pass interference down the field. Pretty good production for just two passes thrown to him.
