Since both kickers missed at the end, Steelers an XP and Ravens a FG, I guess it balanced out. Now had Boswell made his XP, I think they said he hadn't missed on in 2 years, the Ravens needed a TD at the end.
Steelers won by 2. If he makes the extra point it would have been 3 abd a field goal would have put the game in overtime

ooops, yup you are correct, my bad and thanks for correcting me.

Now had the Ravens been down by 3, I think they would have tried harder to score a TD. Since OT and a possible tie would have lead to the same thing as a loss, being eliminated from the playoffs.

Perhaps looking at this in a "Half Full Glass" kind of way (sorry @Half Empty ), the Steelers might have ended up better off that Boswell missed that kick, allowing the Ravens to coast to a spot they were comfortable at in trying to kick the winning FG.

Well I disagree with having Bullard out there on Special Teams, especially that late in the game. The Packers secondary is thin enough as it is, absolutely stupid to expose him.

I also 1000% percent don't understand why Love was dressed. Did MLF really have ANY intentions of playing him, under ANY circumstances? If he did, that is just a huge question mark with me and "MLF Decisions".
Of course, he could have sent Love in there on ST instead.

Don’t agree. It’s a wussy move.

Thinking so isn’t “extreme animosity”.
The way you said it made me think so. But really, you can't imagine how little I care one way or the other. I mean, stop the clock and kick, or let time run out.

Well even though the Bears are the #2 seed, I don't believe they are the 2nd-best team in the playoffs. This is one year where playoff seeding should have still included all division winners, but seed according to record. Both the Rams and Niners won one more game than the Bears, yet they are seeded 5th and 6th.

Anyway this is a good matchup for the Packers. Out of all the WC teams, beating Chicago is the most likely. Don't wanna go to Philly and don't want to start with the Niners or Rams (well, yet).

Can't help wondering if MLF is coaching for his job next week. Oops - there is a forum for that topic.
I recall when the 7-9 Seahawks were a #4 Seed.
Bottom 10 Offense and Bottom 10 Defense.

Meh. I’m not going to lose sleep over it. I just think it’s kind of a loser move.

I think we’d roll our eyes if we led any game 16-0 and the opposing coach called timeout with 1 second left to kick a FG to lose 16-3.

All I can say is this. The one "Stud" that stood out for the Packers? The Punter.
The dud? Two weeks ago, I watched Max Brosmer end the game with a total of 3 yards passing. I thought that was bad until I saw Tune with a -7 total for the game. And then I found out he was drafted by AZ in the 5th round, and it all made sense. :)

Stud: Matt Lafleur, for playing it smart and resting starters and getting to the playoffs as (relatively) healthy as possible.

Dud: Matt Lafleur, for calling a timeout with 1 second left to kick a meaningless field goal to lose 16-3 instead of 16-0.

Either try to get in the endzone on that last drive or just run out the clock and eat the shutout. I wouldn’t have had any problem with either.

Doing what he did was a cringey, petty move that I would expect from a team like the New York Jets.
The timeout for the field goal. Petty. Everyone gets it, you want to score. But that will come back to bite the Packers in the ***. Karma never forgets. I couldn't care less myself. The only people it benefited were the bookies because there was 13.5 point spread on the game. The game itself wasn't enjoyable to watch, and I'm glad I didn't waste my time traveling to MN to watch it.

I've always heard that bookies don't lose or win depending on where the points end up. At least after you put them all together.

From what I saw about the game, the Vikings needed to win to save face and the Packers rested nearly everyone that mattered to give them recovery time before the playoffs start. It was essentially a throwaway game nothing more. For people like McCarthy, it was a really big one because people were beginning to believe he was a dud.

A rested and healed Packer team will be traveling to Chicago next Saturday night to play the rubber match with the Bears. It should be an exciting contest.
Good summary V. For me, this game was less interesting than any PS game. I'm surprised the D only allowed the queens to score 16 points in a game the queens very much wanted to win.

I don't think JJM is their guy. One horrible scenario has Willis signing with the queens. I don't think that will happen. Right or wrong, the queens will give JJM another season to prove he's the guy. Or maybe not?

I agree. They have no choice but give him another year. Financially it's the only option. They spent a bunch of cap space to get the team they have together and to start fresh with a new QB would be the end for the GM and coaching staff.

Heck I’m still able to run pretty fast. I bet I can out perform Tune up in the 1st half. He has -7 yards passing. I’d just roll out every play and throw it away and I’d get you that 7 yards back!
Go for it OS! You'll have the support of all on this forum!

Passing for -7 yards. It doesn't sound possible. Kind of like a temperature outside below zero. How is "less than nothing" defined? Anyway, it's just a hard concept to grasp - in football or in the weather.

Well sometimes we grow through the process of elimination. In the Packers' case, they learned Tune is not fit to play QB at any level in the NFL - even PS.

If you believe in conspiracy theories and this one is raging online, Matt was in bed with Vegas and only kicked the FG because the Vikings were 13.5 point favorites.

I didn't mind him trying to avoid getting shut out for the sake of his players more than anything. I have a feeling he didn't think the kids out there on O that day could have sniffed the endzone anyway.

He didn't really let Tune play. And I don't understand that. How you going to actually learn something
Perhaps he knew Tune wasn't going to do much? I'd wager MLF just wanted us to get out of there healthy for this weekend. Most of the guys playing in that game wouldn't be playing against the Bears anyway.

Everybody knew he wasn't going to do much. Well, it's over and maybe the D feels a little better about themselves. But I don't know a damn thing about Tune
