I agree. And the queens were playing to win. I thought the D held up v well considering the guys playing.

As for Tune, well hold on to Ridder......
O'Connell played it vanilla. Did not have to punt several times. But JJ was not impressive. Playing against backups and not having to score because your opponent has no offense should have produced a lot more. Packers D did well. Credit to Hafley.

Good summary of a regular season game that was somehow LESS interesting than a PS game. But it served its purpose. The backup D played surprisingly well. Tune was, sorry, out of tune. Couldn't help it milani......

On to Chicago. I wanted this rematch. The Packers outplayed the Bears for 118 out of 120 minutes this season (ok those 2 minutes were very painful and self-inflicted, making it that much worse).

Even so, The Packers showed they can hang with the Bears without Parsons. I expect another close game and another Packer win.

And taking a bus 200 miles south, give or take, is way better than flying to Philly.

It is. I just enjoyed going into Philly back in 2010 and defeating Michael Vick after what he had done to us in 2002. And then getting the Bears a few weeks later. Wish we could write the same script.

Well even though the Bears are the #2 seed, I don't believe they are the 2nd-best team in the playoffs. This is one year where playoff seeding should have still included all division winners, but seed according to record. Both the Rams and Niners won one more game than the Bears, yet they are seeded 5th and 6th.

Anyway this is a good matchup for the Packers. Out of all the WC teams, beating Chicago is the most likely. Don't wanna go to Philly and don't want to start with the Niners or Rams (well, yet).

Can't help wondering if MLF is coaching for his job next week. Oops - there is a forum for that topic.

I doubt that he is coaching for his job. Unless the Packers hit a losing season with Love at QB it is unlikely. Will MLF get a new contract or an extension. Remains to be seen.

I agree milani. The chatter about firing MLF has been overdone. But an extension for him, and Gluten? That's gonna be tricky.

From what I saw about the game, the Vikings needed to win to save face and the Packers rested nearly everyone that mattered to give them recovery time before the playoffs start. It was essentially a throwaway game nothing more. For people like McCarthy, it was a really big one because people were beginning to believe he was a dud.

A rested and healed Packer team will be traveling to Chicago next Saturday night to play the rubber match with the Bears. It should be an exciting contest.

The Eagles did practically the same but they were not in the same status as us. Why they think playing the 9ers is the same as playing the Packers after 18 weeks makes no sense. The point spread against GB would be larger than SF.

Agree. This was almost like a "bye game" for the Packers, at least for most of their starters.

I do question who made the decision to have Bullard out there on Special Teams in the 4th Q. I mean come on man!

I kept wondering if Tune got hurt, would MLF REALLY have put Love in? I hope he wouldn't of. I can only imagine what the fallout had been if Love was put in and got hurt.

I don't think I have ever watched a game where the Packers had negative passing yards, so that was a first. I like the depth of our defense, but I feel completely opposite about the depth of our OL and Tune.

Really felt like watching one of those preseason games where the Packers rest all the starters and the other team decides to play theirs.

STUD to the entire group of backups that played on defense.

None of the personnel decisions yesterday were easy. They went down to the last day. MLF indicated that he had to use some of the regulars simply because there were not enough back ups to fill every spot. So somebody had to play. Next week no one will worry about that. All hands on deck and if the ship sinks no one will worry about the next week.

Well I disagree with having Bullard out there on Special Teams, especially that late in the game. The Packers secondary is thin enough as it is, absolutely stupid to expose him.

I also 1000% percent don't understand why Love was dressed. Did MLF really have ANY intentions of playing him, under ANY circumstances? If he did, that is just a huge question mark with me and "MLF Decisions".

Well said OS. I felt the same way about the game last night. Rodgers has certainly done things to **** just about everyone off, but as you note OS, he gave us a lot of winning, competitive football for many, many years. The good far outweighs the bad.
Yeah, honestly, I don't get all the Rodgers hate around here. He did win us a Lombardi, after all.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that the Ravens rubbed our face in it last week, either.

I don't know if we can take the lousy play.

Well seeing someone in action, and the queens were playing to win, can help to eliminate them as well. So the 34 yards total passing wasn't for nothing. So long Tune (and a buncha puns). The Packers can do a lot better. Hell suit up Old School! He's play and he'd play better.

And Tune isn't worth keeping on the PS.
Heck I’m still able to run pretty fast. I bet I can out perform Tune up in the 1st half. He has -7 yards passing. I’d just roll out every play and throw it away and I’d get you that 7 yards back!

I have never really waivered from being a huge Rodgers fan, when he is on the field. However, his off the field schtick and BS got old and tiring. For Rodgers the Football player, if the Packers don't win the SB this year, I would love for him to ride out carrying the Lombardi. I bet his wife would find a place to stick it. :whistling:

I never did care about his off the field antics. The main thing that upset me was that he was 1-4 in NFCCGs, and that he couldn't beat the 49ers. Not all his fault, arguably, but still annoying.

Stud: Matt Lafleur, for playing it smart and resting starters and getting to the playoffs as (relatively) healthy as possible.

Dud: Matt Lafleur, for calling a timeout with 1 second left to kick a meaningless field goal to lose 16-3 instead of 16-0.

Either try to get in the endzone on that last drive or just run out the clock and eat the shutout. I wouldn’t have had any problem with either.

Doing what he did was a cringey, petty move that I would expect from a team like the New York Jets.

I guess you are going to see these kinds of games, no matter how long or short the NFL schedule is in weeks. The final game or 2 of the season has always been a crap shoot, depending on who is playing and what their records are. Pretty much the same with all sports.

Heck, I watched a great game last night between the Steelers and Ravens.

He was just trying to get his FG/PAT team some extra work, they hadn't seen the field all day! ;)

But I agree, if I am MLF, I tell Tune to start the kneel downs around the 2nd Q. :D

Rodgers was doing those petty short passes in the first half. But he really flinged a few in the 2nd half. Should have been an overtime game.

Since both kickers missed at the end, Steelers an XP and Ravens a FG, I guess it balanced out. Now had Boswell made his XP, I think they said he hadn't missed on in 2 years, the Ravens needed a TD at the end.

I agree. In MLF's defense, with the way the backup OL was playing, he probably didn't want to see Tune get destroyed. While I was very unimpressed with Tune, that was probably the toughest position he could have been put into. Mostly backups playing with him, against the starting Viking defense, in a meaningless game.
