I'm glad we get to heal up in the bye week. But what are we going to do in four weeks if we need another one? There are 13 games left. We're not getting through the season without any more injuries.
Good point. Right now, the guys who need to get healthy for the Bengals are Tom, Banks, and Belton. Just about the entire OL. Reed is gonna be out until at least Thanksgiving, hopefully sooner.

Of course Morgan could start playing like a first round draft choice. That would help a lot.

And the word is becoming as overused as the phrase "pad level" - but the "penalties" have to be eliminated, or reduced.

And let's hope the D just had a truly off night against Dallas.

A lot of football left, and I'm not discouraged.

The Reinforcements won’t all come at once. They might not even ALL come period. However we’re about to start overlapping returning players.

Some shorter term injuries with a chance to play Cincinnati might include.

DT Devonte Wyatt
RT Zack Tom
OT Anthony Belton
LG Aaron Banks
Saf Javon Bullard

Then available to practice off PUP or IR could any of this grouping across the next 3 weeks.

DE/LB Colin Oliver
WR Christian Watson
RB Marshawn Lloyd
C/G Jacob Monk
OT John Williams

That’s 5 OL that could be available if needed across all the next several weeks.
Thanks OS. Geez I forgot about Wyatt and Bullard, and both were playing well. If we get back the first five guys you list (and penalties stop......) the team should be in good shape.

Any word on Watson? I hope Lloyd gets better soon so his NFL career doesn't consist of the IR list. Although Wilson is playing very well.

Since The Pack have a bye here's the thread to chit chat the bye week.

This bye couldn't have came at a better time. Hopefully when they resume action they do better against The Bengals with a not great QB with Burrow out.
IF.... .Packers were to lose at home to the vaunted Bengals......any chance Policy blows Lafluer out? Because, if I KNEW that would be the case.....Id be a HUGE Bengals fan for ONE game!
I CANNOT STAND THAT DUDE!!!!

Yeah winning a SB takes a great deal of talent and a fair amount of luck. But it's never easy, and because of injuries, it's hard to predict who will win a SB during the season.
Never going to happen with the HC they now have. He is a wussie. He coaches scared, rarely has team prepared, never makes good adjustments during game.
There was a reason Policy did not extend his contract…. He knows Lafluer isin’t the coach for this team to get to and win a SB.

The last couple years of MM I was definitely ready to move on. I'm not there with LaFleur but there are a few things that for sure bother me.

I believe John Williams is shutdown for the year....could be wrong.

For example, the 2010 team.
Yep, the 2010 team was seeded last I believe and had like a 9-7 record???? And they were slight underdogs in the SB against the Steelers. But everything came together in the playoffs. That was a good SB as well, good game to watch.

Another team that pulled this off, at the Packers' expense too, were the 2007-2008 Giants. They beat the Packers in a frigid NFCCG at Lambeau, then went on to beat the previously undefeated Pats in the SB. And I think the Giants were a very low seed as well. They just played their best ball at the best time.

So yeah, it happens. And because of the prevalence of injuries, the SB winner is partly determined by luck. The Lions had it all going last year, until they lost like 6 starters (or more), most on defense late in the year. They were 15-2, had the 1st seed and were then one-and-done in the playoffs.

We all need a good laugh.
We definitely needed a laugh - but not as badly as Ravens' fans.

Well, the Eagles and Bills lost yesterday. No more undefeated teams. The Lions are rolling and we've beat them already.

So I'm waiting for that team that went 2-0 to return to Lambeau on Sunday. They certainly have the talent, and hopefully the bye gave them 1) time to get healthy and 2) to figure out how to manage games and players (Parsons) better.

In an interview, Parsons said the bye would give him time to talk with Hafley and get more creative in using him. He mentioned it was hard to just come in and play with no training camp.

I dunno - he looks pretty damned good to me. If he can up his game from here, and the play of the D, well can't wait to see that.

Finally, and stating the obvious - MLF has to up his game. His play calling can improve, but clock management has been weak for as long as I can remember. I don't recall the last time they had all three TOs at the 2-minute warning. It's a pattern, and not a good one. He has a team loaded with talent. He has to get his weaknesses fixed or his job will be in jeopardy.

That 2010 had the #1 defense IIRC measured by points allowed. The young offense struggled at times during the regular season but improved down the line.

An early BYE like this is a great chance to self-scout. LaFleur has talked about self-scouting often but hasn't necessarily applied the lessons learned that fans expected in previous seasons. Let's hope that he has grown as well.

Thanks. I actually caught it just after I posted that as I was reminded when looking to his return status. You guys are too fast reading whereas I have no time to self edit!

Wasn’t sure where to put this. Bye week status seems appropriate I guess.

IMO our start has really been part of Our identity (I’m really not trying to aggravate anyone using excuses). Our relative inexperience has been our Achilles heel. It just comes with the territory of being the youngest team in the NFL, much less THREE years running?? Is that normal? I’d love to see how many Teams have maintained the youngest roster for 3 consecutive seasons as it sounds unusual. Maybe not idk

For the first 2 seasons we were VERY young, now I would’ve guessed we were poised to break that mold a little.
What’s more amazing is while Jordan is in his 6th season As our QB he’s really only got just over 2yrs of starter “real” experience. Yet he counts as 5 full completed years which is a bit unusual and yet we’re still the youngest. How many guys in the NFL are in year 6 with 2 seasons of snaps? Rare.

As Jordan traverses his 3rd starting season we should see some minor to modest improvements on how his O assimilates. So far we’ve been sporadic but we’ve started off with a couple serious injuries. 2 of our most experienced starting OL in a young group missed significant time. A 3rd (Elgton) entirely switched positions. It’s not like going from LG to RG here. Many nuances change at Center and he’s still learning the position. He’s a Rookie all over again in many aspects. Yet no doubt with incredible upside and a known quantity superior athlete.

What I’m saying is good, not bad. You learn through trials and what NOT to do next time (moving the ball was a technicality but still a learning lesson) Yet we’ve got to allow our OL an extra month or so to gain steam. Plus our best OL (Tom) missed time. Once we get Tom back I think things will settle down a little bit there. Now it’s true that a Coach is never going to blame injuries and really it’s a mindset that nobody feels sorry for us. Yet imo that in itself implies recognition that we’re wounded. Luckily I’m just a lowly fan so I can say what I want and don’t need to be politically correct or worried about my teams mentality.
It’s ok injuries are a part of football and if they weren’t a factor we wouldn’t be excited to get Christian back.

Our MO has been to gel around mid season. 2025 should’ve ideally been earlier (4-6 weeks) or around now. I think it’s delayed because our musical chairs at OL. My guess is another 2-4 Weeks to get into form. In the meantime we’re plenty good enough to Win. As @rmontro correctly alluded to… Thankfully we don’t play Detroit next week as they have hit full form ahead of us. Now it’s our turn to get there.
Imo this schedule and Bye week had really played out near ideal. We’ll lose some games down the stretch as we play better opponents, so stacking a buffer of Wins starting vs Cincinnati is huge. No more excuses. 3-1-1 rights a lot of wrongs.

ITs time to pull the plug on Marshawn Lloyd!!!! At this point he is taking up a valuable roster spot.

Huh?? Where did that come from?? :roflmao:

That's nuts, IMO. Way too premature. Latest word is that he appears to be on schedule for the hamstring.

Studs: Nobody

Duds: Nobody...we got absolutely owned by the bye week. LaFleur's play calling was horrible. Christian Watson got injured for the 37th time this year. I'm glad to see Butkus is starting to fix the O-Line but jesus let's do this 3 weeks ago huh? Defense was abysmal...NOBODY showed up! When your kicker and punter are your star athletes you know you got beat bad.

Poster's note: If you took any of this seriously I can sell you really awesome ocean front property in Nebraska

Very good assessment. And as I predicted that youth and inexperience would be an Achilles although it also allows for players to heal faster than 10 year vets. When Rodgers took over the reins he had a more experienced team with him and I think that helped a lot particularly in 2010 when overcoming all those team injuries.

Oh yeah there’s the good of youth. The other one I’ve noticed is we seem to travel better. In Rodgers or Favre days we’d lose Road games by 3+ scores. Those previous teams were wonderful at home, but with exception of a handful of seasons we didn’t travel well. Especially if it was the West Coast

This young team has had 12 Road game losses (including Philly from 2023-2024) Our average Loss point spread? -3.67 pts

Think about that. That’s throwing in our loss to the SB Champions at Philly. Before Philly we lost 11 Road games by an average margin of -2.9 pts/loss. That means 1 TD would’ve flipped 10 of 12 Road losses into the Win column. This young team travels better on the Road, but we don’t finish properly.

In 2022 we lost 5 Road games by a total of 41 points. -8.1 pts/loss
In 2021 we lost 4 Road games by a total of 47 points -11.75 pts/loss.
In 2020 we lost 2 Road games by a total of 31 points -15.5 pts/gm
