And this is how great coaches show their prowess. Motivation and focus. Lombardi encountered this with the Packers even when they were young. But he did not wait until the following week. He used halftime. And even as the team matured he understood human nature and he knew how to deal with it.
I’ll never forget one of the most interesting things I ever heard about Lombardi. Early in his time with the Packers he had lost several games in a row. He conferred with a couple of the Veterans and asked them their opinion on their take of how to improve? Vince was not too proud to use any information possible in order to Win.

What I think that did more than anything was let the players who were leaders on his team know that he was one of them. Vince would not leave any rocks unturned in order to Win. For myself this showed a level of respect for players, but also by using their ideas, it held them accountable. Not sure if if it was planned that way but it obviously worked brilliantly.

Reminded me just a little of Holmgren’s time early on with Majkowski where they hit a low point after losing a couple games to start and then the injury, Favre enters and looks the part. They never looked back.

lesson: Gotta go through some struggles to have the persistence to want to fix it and give maximum effort. When all is good we have a tendency to slack off, it’s human nature. Some of the best NFL teams went through significant adversity but they used that to rise above. This is why it’s very dangerous to count a team out in the first half of the season. It often leaves us looking foolish, much like those who bailed on the Packers at Halftime in Pittsburgh.

Stop we all know it is hard to win in this league, except for MLF and the Green Bay Packers - they are expected to never lose, never flirt with defeat and should be perfect every snap, play and possession.

That was a tongue firmly in cheek comment by me. :coffee:

That was one of his best moments as a Packer, or worst depending on your outlook.
It all went down from self assigning a coin toss. Stuff like that really bothers Coaches. I know J’aire meant it as playful, but It’s hard to forget and to correct that wrong is nearly impossible

Similar to a 1st impression. A lasting impression takes 10 more impressions just to balance the scale.

What’ I’m most glad of this week? For an entire week I’ve had to listen to enough Eagles favored scare tactics to last about 3 games. Almost to irritation level. Come aboard the anti Packer propaganda train!
One prominent one was “this is Jaires REVENGE game!” It’s the perfect example of how that scare stuff is for media to rile up fans. The mighty JA revenge angle just evaporated like a vapor in a strong breeze.
I’m calling it as I see it
+1 Green Bay!

Well there goes the 'he found the fountain of youth, gonna be healthy and exact revenge on the team that cut him because he is HUNGRY!' story angle...

My opinion has been and will continue to be, Jaire made bank and has no real incentive of getting back on a field. The Ravens gave him $4M to come over to their team and be on the field for 61 snaps. I suppose they got some of that back via the 6th round pick and $1M that the Eagles agreed to pay him, but again, Jaire made bank. So far, Jaire has made $65,573/snap in 2025.

All I know is this, I am really glad that Gute made the decision to cut him.

Just found this article. I'm a huge fan of Jaire, first player jersey I bought. I hope he sticks around football, and possibly getting into coaching in the future, as a DB coach, down the road.

Very interesting read. Very honest.

I loved Jaire when he was here, and I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do next. He'll always be a Packer to me.

Early in his career, I loved how willing he was to come down and make tackles. Of course, that led to injuries that dogged him throughout his career. I'm sure that many of us don't realize how tough it is to play the sport that you love, and while making millions is great, there is a TON of public and team pressure to perform at your peak every single game, recover from injuries in lightning speed, and play through injuries that might haunt you post-football. It can be a real mental drain.

$75.5M in 8 years of being in the NFL for Jaire.

I don't feel "bad" for him in the slightest, but I wish him the best of luck as he continues the hard work involved in the repair of his mental health.

Man that’s tough stuff. J’aire gave us an entire movie of highlight reels. The same passion that made him ******* himself was the passion he was given that made him dynamic on the field. Nobody stays on top forever. I believe God gives us difficulty to strengthen us, but ultimately the end game is to relate to others who have experienced similar pain. Without humility we would all be full of ourselves (we see this with young people who are about to find out the hard way) With it we are far more wise to relate and offer advice.

J’aire had a great career. He’s got nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. He rose to the top 1% of his position group at the highest level. That’s a rare blessing.

Concerning is the heart of a man that conditionally deals their compassion based upon anything but the situation....

Thanks Curly. That article was a hard read, but important. JA was never known for his maturity, and maybe he could afford to act cocky becuase in his prime, he was a real shutdown corner. So his decline was painful for him, the Packers, and all of us fans.

Even so, he ends his article on the importance of happiness. Happiness is fluid and mostly ours for the taking - and it can be founbd in many. many places. The article was a very mature thing for JA to do, and if he is done, he left on a high note. Good for him.

It’s a great read and a peek into what players go through
