Or... they blew their *** in 2 innings. Just sayin'1st inning may be foreboding of the series.

A Seattle/Milwaukee World Series would make a nice back story, being the Seattle Pilots franchise ( 1season, 1969) moved to Milwaukee, in 1970, becoming the Milwaukee Brewers. The move prompted a lawsuit, which granted Seattle a future team, which became the Mariners in 1977. The Pilots colors were Navy Blue, Gold, And White, which are still the main colors in Milwaukee today.I've kind of thought it could end up the Mariners vs the Brewers for the trophy. They're the best offensive teams left in my opinion.
My Tigers stole one in 11 innings last night, 3-2. Now we have Tarik Skubal on the mound tonight, and with travel/off days, he will be in line to also pitch game 5, if it comes to that. This series made me nervous as Seattle is a powerful team at the plate, this would be one heck of a series win for us, if we can find a way to not give the hammer back to them.I've kind of thought it could end up the Mariners vs the Brewers for the trophy. They're the best offensive teams left in my opinion.
Where was it the Pilots played? Sick Stadium? A place where a Little Leaguer could hit a home run.A Seattle/Milwaukee World Series would make a nice back story, being the Seattle Pilots franchise ( 1season, 1969) moved to Milwaukee, in 1970, becoming the Milwaukee Brewers. Sick Stadium was nothing compared to Hughes Field in Sacramento where the Brewers farm team the Solons played. They had a 40' net out in left field and the distance to left field was about 230 Ft. and right field about 300 with about an 8 ft. net. The Solons hit over 300 home runs. That was the year Bill McNulty hit 55, Gorman Thomas 51, Sixto Lezcano got 34, Steve McCartney got 32, so did Tommy Reynolds, and Tommy Blanco had 28. Left fielders were so close to the infield that they were throwing out runners at 2nd & 3rd base.Where was it the Pilots played? Sick Stadium? A place where a Little Leaguer could hit a home run.
What a Series, if you're right....I've kind of thought it could end up the Mariners vs the Brewers for the trophy. They're the best offensive teams left in my opinion.

Stormin' Gorman and Harvey's Wallbangers! Molitor, Yount, Cecil, Ben Ogilvie, Rollie and his moustache, Slaton... that team was loaded; 82 should have been our year. When Sixto & Gorman reached the Brewers, there was no doubt in my mind they were going to do some damage to the fences for that era. Those two had some real strength in their swings.
Didn't Lemon manage the White Sox in 1977?Sick Stadium was nothing compared to Hughes Field in Sacramento where the Brewers farm team the Solons played. Bob Lemon, who was elected to the Cooperstown later as a pitcher kept preaching to the guys he sent to the mound that the ball had to be no more than about 6" above the knees or it was going for a ride. And they went for a lot of rides. The team ERA was over 6.00.
I went to quite a few of their games. I had a cousin who had worked parttime on field maintenance before he got a job with Alcan Cable Co. in Roseville, CA. Since he knew people at the stadium, he got us free tickets, so it was off to the park.

Here's the Solons stats for that year. It made the Brewers one of my favorites from some time, and they still are, even though I'm a White Sox fan. I will admit that I never had more fun watching baseball than at those games. It was a circus of dingers.

Yes he did.Didn't Lemon manage the White Sox in 1977?
That team had NO pitching staff.Yes he did.
They won 90 games and stil ended up third in the West. If the pitching would have been stronger, they could have won the whole thing. They had like 8 guys in double figures with dingers if I recall. In those days, that's a lot. That team had NO pitching staff.
Yes.
Toronto is a serious Contender also. They are an American League version of Milwaukee. Not the best Home Run team, but they have one of the least At Bat Strike Out rates (#2) and are consistently good at getting on Base (#1 hits) Toronto is #3 ranked in RBI’s. They’re the only team that posted a better Regular season batting average (.265) over Milwaukee.
What’s more impressive though is their recent flexing their muscle. The Blue Jays just exploded and broke a Major League Record (23 Runs) for the most in history across their first 2 Postseason games. Pounding a Grandslam in process and just hushing the Yankees.
Toronto is not a small market team. Toronto metro has nearly twice the population as Detroit metro (6.5M/3.54M) Also, Seattle is sitting at 3.81M, which is more than Detroit, so Detroit is technically the smallest market team left in the American League.I have been saying that it is going to be Brewers VS Blue Jays for awhile now. A match-up with the Mariners wouldn't be that bad either.
Sorry @DoURant but I don't want to see any of the big market teams like the Tigers, Yanks, Dodgers, Phillies or Cubs in the World Series. Let's go small market teams!!
People mistake a lot of Canadian cities as being small when they aren't. There's not only the city proper but the surrounding areas that make up their population. It's because of the vast amount of open land that's there, not overrun with urban sprawl like we have here in the US.Toronto is not a small market team. I think that was there Na Na Na Hey Hey Good Bye year. The Royals came from about 7 back in late July and went on a tear. Won 102 games but laid an egg against the Yankees. They won 90 games and stil ended up third in the West. If the pitching would have been stronger, they could have won the whole thing. Doesn’t Philly have a history of that with all its major sports teams? Not a fan of the Dodgers or Phillies, but what shitty fans in Philly. Dodgers broke the game open in the top of the 7th with 4 runs, after the 3rd out, the fans boo'd their team as they came off the field and now are booing after every Philly out in the bottom of the inning.
I think you are correct. I know the Eagles fans are reputed to be first class A-holes.Doesn’t Philly have a history of that with all its major sports teams?
Back in 2002 Antonio Freeman signed with them for a year. He was polite in saying their fans loved their sports. I think what he meant is just what you said.I think you are correct. I know the Eagles fans are reputed to be first class A-holes.
