Cooper is only in his 3rd year of his 4 year rookie deal, so I don't see him as a must resign during the season. That's a guy you wait on and see if he stays healthy and how he plays with the new D.

Perhaps you were thinking about Wyatt?
No I was thinking cooper. Just thought he was here 3 full years already. That dudes been good since year 1 imo.

Wyatt I see as a above average core guy. But I have a hard time valuing him as high as some others. Honestly I think last year when he just stood there like a tree, when one of our smaller guys came and crashed into him on the side line, and got injured. Nixon, or maybe it was a wr, can't remember exact... Wyatt couldn't be bothered to step out of the way. Not cool dude.

The injury doesn't help his situation either.

His 5th year option salary seems like a fair value when he is healthy. Not sure if id be happy seeing him get more, unless he has a break out year.

Maybe it's just that we had a list of guy like Watson, Kraft, reed, half our oline was injured or cut or let leave in FA, so I valued Sean rhyan pretty high. LVN after trading Gary, tyrod after losing willis... I thought Quay walker was definitely signable if..... You know ... He didn't hit the ref that one time, and go on twitter basically quit when he didn't get the deal he wanted, then say he was hacked... Yikes .. or was that Gary? He basically did the same thing... T in hat gives me a bit of an ick.

Anyways. The list has mostly been resigned already gutenfloggen has done a truly great job this off season. Imobb

I feel the same way and he is one of those players, especially with the injury, is a gamble either way to resign or not resign too early. If the Packers think he can stay healthy and do more than we have seen, then now might be the "bargain" window to resign him. Why? Because if he does stay healthy and his level of play goes up, he will be a lot more expensive to keep. However, I can also see him not improving enough to warrant a new big contract right now.

Ultimately, I don't think Wyatt is an absolute necessary piece to the defense, and perhaps the Packers feel they have future, cheaper options already on the team. It will all come down to value and I hope the Packers know what Wyatt's exact value to the team is now and in the future. They have been doling out a lot of big contracts and I expect another one with Kraft, is Wyatt a guy you want to pin a lot of guaranteed cap to?

Devontae Wyatt is a better-than-average IDL, BUT... he's already 28 yrs old, and only on the field (for injury & limitations) for 33% of defensive snaps. He's a disruptive force on pass plays, but not so good against the rush. He's earned his 5th year, 1 yr deal of $12.938mil, but think that's his ceiling financially. I'd be OK with a 3yr/$$40mil deal (top-25) but I doubt he/his agents would "settle" for that.

Agree. I've seen some projections for him up around the $20M/year figure and I would hate seeing the Packers do that. If push comes to shove, you let him play all out for a new contract in 2026 and if it turns out to be too expensive for the Packers, you move on. As his playing history sits now, coming off a big injury, he is not worth locking down with a $20M/year kind of deal. PFF has him rated as the 87th best DL (Interior DL, not including EDGE) in the NFL.

The Packers have some young talent playing on the defensive line. They just spent a 3rd rounder on Chris McClellan and paid FA Javon Hargrave decent money. Throw in Brinson and Brooks and you have guys who can play on the line.

This was a pretty good discussion on Devonte.

Fingers crossed that it's more on LVN developing/playing well and less on the OL struggling.... IIRC he tore up Jordan Morgan in last years OTAs so who knows lol

Yup. I don't get too excited about OTA's, summer camp or even preseason. Practice warriors are a dime a dozen, let's see what you do in Sept. - January

Fixed that for you.
I keep forgetting that the Super Bowl is slowly creeping its way to March and is now in the 2nd week of February. Thanks for catching that.

I see ESPN and ABC are airing a 4 hour live show tonight. Fans will finally get a look at each teams new athletic supporters. So grab your seats, that is going to be a hard act to follow.

Early reports are Isaiah Nayor is competing hard for that WR6 spot (assuming past our top 3 WR’s would be Savion and Moore$

John Williams has been getting work at backup Center.

Jager has actually been getting work at LG with the 1’s while Banks is out and MLF claims he’s battling for playing time.

Savion Williams and TE Josh Whyle have both been praised by Love as the more impressive improvements since last season.

Honestly my only concern is the story about LVN burning Morgan consistently. LT is one position you can't live without. Love gets injured and it doesn't matter how many pro bowl caliber WRs you have.
Off the top of my head. I don't even know who is our back up LT? Is that something we should address before the season starts? Any over the hill all pro LTs sitting at home that might want to be a back up, and get a ring?:)

Yes. Let’s hope it’s more LVN rising than Morgan falling

OTAs can be very productive. It is like spring training in baseball. The game pressure of having to win takes a back seat to development. And practice makes perfect. Just think, MLF and Jonathan came to the conclusion about Melton now. If it happened when the season started it could have spelled disaster.
