Well the 2025 season is fast approaching. We now have ample sample size to formulate more accurate projections. The hardest thing to predict in 2025 is Love’s ceiling.

The big factors that should enhance Jordan are
1. He’s coming in healthy
2. He’s entering his 3rd season as a Starter
3. Our OL has some nice upgrades
Jordan Morgan and A Belton
4. All O position groups got help
The notable upgrades are at WR, but I’d argue each group will see upgrades across our Roster. Jordan Morgan and Marshawn Lloyd lead the list of the forgotten outside of GB, much because they injured early and disappeared in 2024. Well they are back and added to Golden, Belton and Savion. It’s like FIVE draft picks in Day1-2 popped on scene.
5. We now have 9-10 Incumbent players from our #8 scoring Offense. Some will get pushed to backup duty.

To temper things at the Pro level, I’d put Love firmly in that 17 games..
30-35 TD
9-13 INT
3,800-4,200 yards

When crossed with what should be an all-Decade Packer 1-2 RB punch and adequate to solid deptg, this Offense is going to present problems for the bulk of Defenses.

While there’s outliers to each season and all teams have setbacks occasionally during a season, there’s also a legitimate chance of a couple of players elevating hard. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see a couple shoot up the ladder. Like Golden and Wicks or like Doubs and Musgrave etc. it’s hard to predict usage but some help will be internal growth and some help from opponents spread too thin trying to stop Golden or Jacobs etc.

I could live with that.

In other news, Jeremy Fowler's annual insider's poll came out today, and Love fell just outside the Top Ten QBs in the NFL. He and C.J. Stroud both received honorable mentions, meaning they were assessed as the #11 and #12 quarterbacks.

The poll is conducted among league coaches, scouts and executives, so it's a pretty good indicator of how Jordan is seen by the people who really know what they're looking at.

While that may be accurate idk, I see Love in that Top 8-10 area average season, but he’s relatively inexperienced compared to 1-7 rated QB’s. Also I say average season and imo This isn’t an average season at all. Love has a good OL with some nice upgrades and more experience. That OL imo is similar in Pass block but better in Run Block (by design) than 2024 where we finished #8. We are safely in that #6-8 rated feel overall.

Also if players are weapons?
Jordan has an arsenal at his disposal. I have never seen an array of so much versatility and talent. At least since 2010-2011 area. 2025 might not have the Top End players, but it’s distributed very evenly with good players everywhere.

I'm not sure that Morgan will be a starter. I'm not sure that he will beat out Rasheed Walker in a contract year. He could be our versatile 6th man
Yeah there seems to be a rush to have Morgan replace Walker, or maybe that's just the way it seems to me. As far as I can tell, Walker has done well at LT. I've heard on here, I think, that the Packers aren't going to want to pay Walker what he will likely get in FA next season.

But Morgan is a totally unknown quantity. There doesn't seem to be a starting position for him on the OL. Depth was a problem, especially in the loss to the Eagles when Jenkins went out. If Morgan can provide depth at more than one position, that seems ok to me. If he stays healthy, he should get his share of snaps.

As for Walker, if he shows improvement this year, GB may just have to bite the bullet and pay him. LT is arguably the most important position on the line.

Don't forget about Aaron Banks (drafted 2nd round 48th overall). He was a 2nd rd pick. So SIX day 1-2 picks added to the offense.

I appreciate your positivity! I am excited to see what this group can do. This was a potent office last year with some WRs and our QB not playing their best. I think they can be something special this season.

Think about this, our OL was ranked #2 inpass defense last year. We got rid of the weakest link and upgraded with Banks. And 4 of the 5 are young and still ascending.

Yeah up and down the roster for offense, there is a lot to like. Gluten used the first three picks - WR, OL, WR to further strengthen the WR group, and solidify the line (along with signing Banks, as you note). I'm sure Gluten was thinking of the Philly playoff loss, when Jenkins went down and there were only rookies to back him up - and disastrously at that. Unless there are a lot of injuries, that won't happen this year.

I am interested especially in where they play Morgan. I think he played mostly LT in college. While there is talk of letting Walker leave in FA, that would leave a big hole at LT. I'd rather see if Walker continues to play well, I think he will, and use Morgan as backup at G or T, on either side.

It may seem a bit off to use a round 1 selection as a backup, but I don't have an issue with it. And we all know there will be injuries, just not where and how severe. Nothing wrong with having a talented backup O lineman on a rookie deal.

The great thing about having Walker is we know what we have. For me 2025 is ideal for trying to upgrade our OL and we have no risk. If Morgan doesn’t work out at LT we have a starter in the wings. If Morgan does work out at LT? We’ve got a good Starter behind him and that’s very valuable at that position, plus a known quantity at LT going into 2026-2027 working on a Rookie deal.

Now Elgton’s decision to stay would help that equation, but it’s not imperative either. Elgton or not (because he’s really giving up a spot to Morgan if he leaves imo) our starting 5 is every bit as good as 2024, but with slightly better upside in Run block.

The question is - do the Packers start Walker or Morgan at LT when the season opens in September? Unless he has a lights-out PS, it seems very unlikely Morgan will start at any OL position.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that the Packers will let Walker leave in FA. He has played well at what is arguably the most important position on the line (well to blindside block for a right-handed QB that is).

So I think Morgan will be used a lot, but as a backup. That can change fast with injury, and if Walker regresses.

Sure. Maybe there’s no perfect answer. I just like working Jordan Morgan at LT to see what we’ve got. We’d know that pretty quickly.

The other aspect is pre draft Jordan was projected to be a high caliber Guard. It’s more likely if he doesn’t play Tackle it’s because we’d see an upgrade at Guard and hope that Walker either stays similar or betters himself at LT, which in the grand scheme, Walker IS still relatively young.

Spot on.

I think that 2nd year Morgan will likely be in a tight race with Walker at LT. I think that his best chance to start is at RG in a battle with Sean Rhyan. However, the ideal situation is that he is dead even with both Walker and Rhyan coming out of camp. At that point he is a capable backup at both positions. Even better would be if they are able to trade away Walker mid-season to a team with a LT injury, and Morgan begins his long career on the blindside.

That would work and that's the luxury of having depth. I think it will be hard for Morgan to displace Walker at LT before the season begins, but stranger things have happened. Morgan has short arms for a T, and as OS noted, pre-draft Morgan was considered at T and G. He has relatively short arms for a T. Sounds like a good situation for the Packers heading into TC and the PS.

If he avoids a lingering injury like he had last season, i think Love will be looked at as the sixth best QB in the NFL at season’s end. He’s still more Favre (on field only) than Rodgers so he’ll throw more picks than he should but he’ll be top-5 in TD passes and I’m guessing he runs for 400+ yards this year.

Yep. That or we hold onto Walker for insurance and wait an extra year and get a wonderful compensatory selection.

I just don’t want to wait until Week 1 of next season to see if Morgan is our starter in 2026-28. We have the crew to flip things around some and still be successful. That’s a testament to Brian and this coaching staff they just seem to click right along at OL.

I like your thinking. I’m probably staying conservative because I don’t want to jinx the kid. Love has all the tools to be successful both within himself and his surroundings.

I sometimes forget how good he is. Then I go back and watch some condensed games and he’s quite dynamic. He couldn’t even hardly scramble last year and he’s mostly marching up and down the field. When he’s got his legs? You’re probably very accurate.

He's got the same arm length as Mark Tauscher
Just a reminder for me to either question things like this, or do a little more research. Either way, thanks for the update EG. I'm sure we all would be very happy if Morgan could have a career at T similar to Tauscher, a SB champion in 2011.

Agreed. Love is certainly capable of having a season as you describe. And if he does, the offense will be a lot of fun to watch this year.

That’s the hope. Can you imagine if Love just had a tick better season than last year and plays 17 games?

I think a very reasonable projection for Jordan IF he plays 17 games looks something like the following numbers.
I’m tempering a smidge due to tougher schedule but also leaning modest growth across young players. Plus factoring additives from both 2024/2025 drafts which are substantial.

35 TD
10 INT
4,275 Yards
65.5% comp%
100.5% Passer 74% QB rating
5 Rushing TD’s
Probowl invite

If that happens or close to it, imo the D would not need to finish top5-6 again. A finish in the Top 10 Points allowed and GB will be squarely competing for Division leader. If the Defense just remained at current level.. <20pts per allowed? GB would be competing with Philly, Detroit or anyone else for an NFC title. The Passing game would likely loosen the Run game also with deep threats always on the field opponents would be forced to keep 2 High Safeties regularly or get punished. Jacobs-Lloyd-Wilson would feast on 7 man boxes applying a slow-bleed tandem. That RB crew and offseason focus at Run Block by going Big and agile? IMO that couple with a pair of good pass catching TE’s and Savion working underneath in rotation would be formidable.

It's totally reasonable for QB these days to play all season. If he works out well (not too much so as to wind himself too tight) and doesn't play too reckless. These days he's protected by the refs pretty good except when he's running. Even then he can slide.jmo

Yep. After a shaky 2024, I almost forgot Love’s ability to scramble. He comes into the NFL very equal to Aaron Rodgers as far as his ability to hurt Defenses. Many don’t know that Aaron Rodgers is not just a Top 10 Passer in history, he’s holds a distinct Duo threshold. Rodger is both a top 10 Rusher and top 10 passer in NFL history.
We speak often to Jordan as a Passer and for good reason, but Jordan rushed for 4 TD’s, 4.9 per carry and 16-1st downs in his 1st starting season. He’s similarly to young Rodgers, he’ll punish you with his feet if you lose focus.

PS. Rodgers has opportunity to move up the ladder into 8th or 9th most rushing yards by a QB ever.

On a spectrum of reckless v secure play, with Favre at one, reckless end and Rodgers on another, protect-the-ball end, Love plays closer to Favre's end.

I'm ok with that. Rodgers has a unique football intellect and has an innate sense of how to pass for big yards and TDs, while keeping INTs to a minimum. Very few QBs can do that consistently.

I would like to see Love get a little smarter - really he needs to get his game to slow down. He has a tendency to panic and throw the ball into a crowd rather than throw it away. That has led to TOs and defensive TDs. That's gotta stop.

He's a talented guy who only needs to correct a few things to be a top 5 QB. He's also got a much better OL to protect him, and a good number of impact players this year. There's no reason this offense shouldn't be in the top 5, to top 3 this year.

Agree with all that OS, but Love needs to refine his dicision making and take the yards, move the sticks when he can. the 49ers throw across his body to end it is burned into my brain, he also had a couple like that last year.. but granted he maybe had to protect himself more. It's an area I hope he can improve upon this year and hurt the defense more.

All good points. Love does need to improve and cut down on the cross-body throws. Rodgers could pull that off, but it's a rare skill among QBs. MLF would do well to simplify the offense at least to start the season. There are a lot of ways for this team to move the ball and burn time.

And MLF needs to improve on clock management.
