...and this morning, I see it's 9 wins in a row and 5 in a row versus the Dodgers which is always welcome news in the morning. Peralta wins 7 straight start for a 12-4 record, the first to hit 12 wins in MLB. ... and HeyJoe hit it right on the money. The infamous "dog days" lay ahead.

Seems like the Brewers recent domination of the Dodgers has been accomplished with great pitching/defense, and last night with great hitting. 5 in a row over the Dodgers is unreal.

Then 6 in a row - 2 sweeps of the Dodgers and 10 game win streak is frigging mystical. Cubbies lost today so the Crew caught up to them.

And they are tied for the most wins in baseball with the Cubs, Tigers, and one or two other teams. 6 in a row against the Dodgers is not a fluke. This team is talented and more important, they know how to win tight games.

I admit it, I had pretty much written them off early in the season. I was wrong and this is an exciting, talented team.

Too many historic runs that collapse in the playoffs for all teams in all sports within 600 miles of Chit town lately for me to get excited. Occasionally they get the trophy but the scripts always seem to favor the major city coastal area teams when the chips are down.

Sadly, I agree.

Let's not forget that the MLB Trade Deadline isn't until July 31st. The big Market teams that are still in contention, are trying to figure out how to spend their extra millions on players that will immediately improve them. Meanwhile, the Brewers are already having to plan on what breakout players they will be able to afford to keep in the coming years.

I'd be a lot more interested in MLB if they adopted a salary cap similar to the NFL's. Until they do, the rich will get richer and the poorer teams will continue to just be "farm league teams" for them.

I will say this though. A ton of credit needs to go to Brewer management, over the last several years, they have probably done the most in MLB, with less.

I choose to live in the moment in that I'm a positive and upbeat fella.

I would absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing the Brewers finally win a World Series. Am I hopeful? Of course. Am I going to watch every playoff game that they are in? Heck yes (if they are on my TV subscription). Would I bet on the Brewers winning it all? Nope. :(

I would love to see a Brewers VS Yankees World Series. I think pretty much every baseball fan, other than a Yankee Fan, would be cheering for the Brewers to win.

Put some money on them winning it all

I watched a little around the 3rd inning. That umpire should not be allowed behind the plate.

I only bet on things that I have some control of.

ESPN has them at 18-1 to win it all. I'd put it closer to 40-1.

Of course, much better odds than the 4 teams at the bottom. ;)

Things look very good right now, heading into the stretch months of August and September.

That's a lot of baseball left to be played. I'm grateful the Brewers are contending. I also can't shake the lousy feeling of seeing them get to the playoffs in I think 6 out of the last 7 years, only to be eliminated very, very quickly.

Past isn't prologue. I have high hopes.

...but what kind of voodoo do the Marlins seem to have over the Brewers? It just seems to me that they have the Crew's number -- and I'm not just talking about the last two games. It's like the Heat and the Bucks.

Pretty weird, taking 6 in a row from the Dodgers and losing a series to the Marlins. The baseball season is just too long imo.

The make-it-or-break-it months of August and September are almost here. I would be happy if they won the Central and if they could win a playoff series. That's not too much to ask, right? Of course I'll be ecstatic with a deeper playoff run, but in the last 6 playoff appearances, they've been bounced in the first round or wild card game every time.

Small cap teams like the Brewers need to have players having career years along with a solid roster of young players. As such when the chips are down I think the moment is to big for them and they basically panic. Big money teams have an experienced roster used to success.

Agree.

It will be interesting to watch MLB trades in the next few days. With the trade deadline being 7/31, those teams in contention will be looking to add pieces. The Brewers may actually be able to improve their roster, due to what appears to be a surplus of capable starting pitchers. Lefty Nestor Cortés appears to be done with his rehab from injury (left elbow) and might be ready to go. With Quintana appearing to have etched his name into the starting lineup, I could see the Brewers shopping Cortés. He probably isn't worth a whole lot to a non-contender, but if they throw in a upcoming minor league prospect like SS Cooper Pratt, they might get some interest.

This is a good Brewer team and I hope we seem them make a trade or 2 before the deadline and take this team as far as they can.

I will say that on that day the umpire screwed the Brewers. Calling balls strikes. They had to swing at bad pitches. It was pitiful.

Baseball is a crazy game... however, the Marlins have now won 20 of their last 28 games, so you need to give credit where credit is due. It's all when you play a team that matters. Obviously the Marlins are a formidable opponent, at this part of the season. In contrast, look at the Tigers, baseballs best record at the All-Star break, who have now lost 12 of 13 games. Yesterday their Ace of the staff, Tarik Skubal, pitched 6 shutout innings, then the bullpen gave up 6 runs, in the 8th and 9th.

A nice come-back, walk-off win for the Crew today! They needed that heading into the series with the Cubbies.

Yeah the "real" baseball season starts after the All Star break. Thanks for the stats.

Good win last night by the Crew! I was a little nervous with the way that game started. The Wiz Kid was a little shaky and throwing errors never help. I think he threw 40 pitches to get out of that 3 run 1st inning. He settled in and retired the final 10 batters that he faced. Pitch count is always something I keep an eye on and man, it seems like the Brewer pitchers get up past 50 way too fast in a lot of games.

In other Brewer news, they are acquiring Tampa Bay Rays catcher Danny Jansen. Nothing to get too excited over, but with Contreras's trying to play through his injury (fractured finger) and his subsequent batting slump, probably a good move. Jansen has struggled a bit this season as he is currently hitting just .204 and has a .703 OPS. He also has 11 home runs and 29 RBIs.
