But that is the thing. If the receiver didn't make the catch, Evans still did (make the interception)! No different then a WR juggle the ball into a defenders hands for an interception or a simultaneous catch but as they are going down, the defender gains possession of the ball. Unless I missed something, the ball never touched the ground and Evans had clear possession of it, when the play ended, interception, Packers ball.
If you watch the replay right after coming back from commercial, you can see the ball hit the ground under Loveland as he and Williams hit the ground. It was not an interception.

If you were to watch it frame by frame, that is Loveland's right hand on the end of the ball near his left hip. His left hand isn't on the ball anymore. His trunk lands on and to the left of the ball and then Evan Williams pulls at it and rolls away.

Agree with most of you on individual player stud/dud. I have to share a few other thoughts.

Love - I'm 98% there on Jordan after being skeptical in his first two years starting. Poise, leadership, character, physical tools, and intelligence are all there. I want to be 100% though and the only thing holding me back is his tendency to throw from a backward leaning position, often on deep attempts, resulting in wounded duck of a throw. Melton TD was one of those that almost allowed the DB to recover after Melton being wide, wide open. Another was the play that forced Melton (I think) to commit the offensive PI to prevent an easy interception. Then a third in Q4 on a pass to Reed (I think) down the sideline that also could have easily been a pick. Many examples of this all year, but he has gotten away with most and some have been big chunk plays. Eventually this will bite him (and the team) in the a** at a crucial time.

Nixon - headcase that the coaches need to correct. Not the greatest at his position but he plays hard and tackles well. His stupid mental penalties are piling up for the season - two, maybe three in this game. I don't care if some numbnut grabs you by the throat after the whistle - you can't lose your head and hurt your team. Same with the hands to the face call after we stopped their run play for a loss that could have ended the series. He wasn't even involved the group tackle. Stupid, stupid, stupid and the kind of thing that will lose a playoff game.

Studs: Love, Melton, Jacobs , Watson, OL, Nixon (but also a Dud for penalties) Parsons Defense as a whole.

Duds: Nixon for penalties. Hard to remember others.

I’m not going to rag on Nixon for his penalty since I didn’t think it was earned anyway, but his postgame “I play for myself. Eff everybody else” was kind of bizarre.

Will try for full studs n duds later but wanted to make a little note - I’m surrounded by bears fans (Illinois). And the general sentiment I hear amongst them is pretty much the opposite of what I hear from packers fans - they’re talking about how LaFleur got the better of Johnson, how Allen’s defense couldn’t stop Matt’s offense, how Hafley stumped Johnson in the first half, etc.

They don’t like any of them for sure, but in general it seems like Bears fans rate the Packers’ coaches higher than Packers fans do lol
I believe the fans of every team think the grass is always greener....

I was texting with my son today, a huge eagles fan. His basic feeling is that the eagles are a sham team since they have lost a number of games recently and are now showing their true selves and that all the games they won at the beginning of the year were just a mirage.
The,truth usually resides somewhree in between.

I think any of the Rams, Eagles, Packers, Bears, Seahawks, and 49ers can feel like they have a pretty legitimate chance to go to the Super Bowl.

Look over at the AFC and the situation is basically the same.

Maybe it’s great for the sport. Maybe it isn’t. But parity reigns over supremacy in the NFL right now.

I hear you but i can definitely tell you that my son does not feel that way about the eagles. His statement was he knows the eagles will make the playoffs, they basically have the division sewn up, but they will be knocked out in the first round.
He has no confidence in their rookie OC

To be fair to your son, the Eagles have looked less than impressive lately.

Of course, many of us were feeling the same way following back to back home losses against Carolina and Philly.

Thanks for the clarification and explanation. I saw it on the jumbotron and they didn't show any shots of it hitting the ground and while I did watch it again when I got home from the game, I must have missed that replay angle.

It's always hard. To be certain, you'd have to see the entire play leading up to it.

Not disagreeing there. Pretty sure I know this play and yeah, Ref missed something.

I more or less never listen to coach speak pressers. There is 0 advantage or incentive for the coach to tell the truth. It becomes just another tool for them to motivate their players or accept (or deflect) blame for the players and assistant coaches.
It wasn't just MLF's presser. He was visibly upset many times over the no holding calls. Seems like it has been kind of an "issue" with Parsons since he has been in the NFL. I've noticed it all season long, I just don't understand why the refs don't.

The leg whip by Wright was clear and obvious.

I really think last night was just a culmination for Matt on what he, Parsons and many fans feel are refs not wanting to call holding on guys trying to block one of the greatest pass rushers to play the game. I am fine with "letting stuff go", when its marginal, but the refs need to call it the same way for all players.

Need to sustain drives so going for a low % long pass down the sidelines on 3rd and something is ridiculous
Was this the play Brady said there was an open receiver over the middle? If so, not a bad play call, just a poor choice of targets by JL10.
However, the receiver did not get two feet down and make a football move before Evans got the ball out.
That "and a football move" is BS. All goes back to a blown call on a reception/non-reception by Megatron a decade or so ago.
As soon as the ball hit his hands on that slant,
As they broke huddle on this play I mused aloud to my spouse asking why we never see the slant like we used to with Driver or Jordy. She of course had no clue as to what I was saying but she did know the names at least.

I don't think they let Williams bite on fakes when they were being held and couldn't tackle him. You could see the defensive players getting pulled one way and then they let them go. It was so bad.
No doubt there was a lot of holding but that came on drop backs. Williams really hurt the Packers when he left the pocket.

Frequently, he faked a hand-off and then rolled out. I felt the ends were crashing towards the running backs too hard and giving Williams easy running lanes to the outside.

If the Packers keep Williams in the pocket and make him beat you with accuracy, it takes away his advantage. I think Gary had another poor performance. He took very poor angles towards Williams.

Jordan said that he saw the way the defense was set up and sent some kind of signal to Christian to run the slant. I am becoming more and more convinced that Jordan has good control of the offense and a really good understanding of reading defenses. This makes it even more important for MLF to get the play call into him quickly and allow him to break the huddle with 20 or so seconds on the play clock. This allows everyone to get lined up, with enough time left on the play clock for Jordan to study the defense and audible if he sees fit.

Very kind of you to say that about my son.

I felt the eagles were vulnerable this year.
They havent fallen as far as the chiefs, but pretty close to it.
I feel we would have easily beaten them if MLF was running the offense back then that he is running today.
Back then our offense was closed off, stodgy, predictable. Ever since MLF has loosened the noose which started with the giants game, our offense has become vibrant, open, consistently knocking down 25- 30 ppg. Just half that output would have been enough to beat the eagles.
My view of the packers team has changed dramatically over the past few weeks.
I use to have supreme confidence in our defense but was iffy on our offense. Now that has completely reversed. I now trust our offense to deliver their normal output while our defense doesnt seem to be as suffocating as it use to be. To many times ive seen them have the opponent at 3rd and long and give up first downs. I dont know if thats because of our injuries, or if other teams have figured us out more.
One thing is for sure that NFC west is loaded this year. They could easily have 3 teams go to the playoffs. Thats why its imperative we win our division to be assured of a spot.

Studs:

- Flyover: Was a nice one yesterday! Although I think one more jet would have completed the formation.

- 1st Half Defense: They were playing with a ton of energy and really swarming. They looked gassed in the 2nd half.

- Love, Reed, Watson, Melton, Jacobs, TE's, Bullard

Duds:

- Refs: I wanted to watch the game before I commented on this, because from the stands, you sometimes don't get the entire story. However, I watched the game when I got home last night and WOW, the refs REALLY sucked. I mean that was one of the most one sided refereeing job that I have seen in awhile. I also think FOX really dropped the ball on commenting on the bad calls or showing replays of reversals. Also, something I noticed from the stands and less on TV, Micah Parsons was being held and tackled ALL game. One one play he was not only held around his neck, but when he escaped, the Bear lineman stuck his leg out to try and trip him, 2 penalties, neither called. MLF was irate over the no calls most of the day, something FOX didn't show. Can someone tell me why the reviewed catch by a Bear that Williams ripped out of his hands and had possession was reversed to a "no catch"? The ball never hit the ground and it went from the Bear WR to Evan Williams as they were going down. I could go on about the Musgrave "no catch", the picked up flag for "no PI on the Bears", the PF on Nixon, etc. but all in all ......"The Refs Still Suck!" Terrible crew, I hope we never see them again.

Unfortunately, I think the answer to all these “mistakes” is that they probably aren’t mistakes. I’m very close to being completely done with the NFL.

I'm for keeping a drive going for as long as possivle. Eventually it takes a toll on the opponents D. Much like the bears did to us with that 17 play drive. Our D was worn out.
3rd and 17 put us in a bad position but a,pass into an area where there were I believe 3 defenders, the pass would have to be perfect. I would have favored a crossing route with a possible catch near the sidelines with the ball placed where only the receiver has a chance to get it. If we dont get it so be it.
Better to try a short check down and punt if need be. Even though our D came through with the stop it flipped the field.

That was his response specifically to a question about how it feels to get the game winning INT after getting scrutiny from some people and it was basically his brash way of saying that he couldn't care less what anyone else (fans, media, etc) have to say either way and he plays because he loves to play. Probably no my choice of words, but that's pretty much the same way I feel about things like my own mediocre guitar skills, etc.

Ben Johnson also very much went out of the way to get Caleb on the move rather than keeping him in the pocket and letting Micah go hunting. Bears already had one of the highest play action rates in the league at something like 35% and yesterday it was pushing 60%+
