I agree Sherman would significantly improve the Packers defense but there's no reason to give up whatever it takes to acquire him. I would be fine with this year's first rounder and another mid round pick next year though.
Sign me up for that.

If Sherman had the on (and off) field personality of a Charles Woodson type guy, this would be a no brainer....trade for him as long as the price is right. But Sherman's tyrades on and off the field would have me pretty nervous as to how he would fit in with the Packers, with both players and coaching staff. It could be a brilliant move by the Packers or it could blow up in their faces if Sherman becomes an unwanted distraction. Tread lightly TT and do your homework on this guys character, we already know what he can do between whistles.

It doesn't take a lot to be better than what we had performance wise on the field last year. That part is a no brainer. I personally think with a consistent pass rush, we dont' even need more sacks, jsut better consistency with pressure and a return to health for the guys we already have, they will take some very noticeable strides forward. I also think some tweaks with how we use some guys are going to be seen this year too.

But I think Sherman has seen his best years. He makes me extremely nervous, as I think he's benefited greatly from that entire defense and the ability to play on a defense that seems to get away with mugging receivers all over the field and rarely get called. It must be why they commit so many pre-snap penalties, so psychologically the refs have to keep flags in their pockets on other things to they don't have too large of a discrepancy at the end of the game between teams? It's a genius plan by carroll I guess, to whine about penalties and being called unfairly towards them when 90% of them are pre-snap and they get away with the rest because of it.

Like someone said earlier, toss in his off the field rants and struggles between himself and his own coaches, players etc, I don't see him being a multi year solution. i'd be ok with a 2nd or 3rd rounder for sure. No way i'm trading a 1st plus something else to take him on. I think he's overrated anyway and the second he starts getting officiated like the rest of the league he's a liability.

Sherman has high character. You do know the reason for Sherman's tirades on the sidelines right? Do your research. Besides with much respect to Mr. Woodson. One should not mistake timidity, or the perception of it, with having character; and the same with assuming a person that is outspoken does not have character. That's a slippery slope.

Geez, you just can't give credit to other good teams. The Patriots are lucky, the Seahawks get away with mugging receivers, blah, blah, blah.

Yet somehow Thompson is the greatest general manager in the history of the game in your opinion.

I find it interesting that some people say the Packers won't get a quality starting CB in the draft because it takes time to develop as a CB--and the same people completely dismiss the possibility that Randall and Rollins could take a leap forward in their quality of play this season.
Your right, but I just don't see it. They continually seem to be a step or two behind or rolling around on the ground because they got juked.

I'd trade the below.

1) #1 pick
2) Damarious Randall
3) Ted Thompson

1 and 2 are optional but 3 is a mandatory condition.

;)
I doubt Seattle would consider Thompson to be of much value.

I have never seen the phrase Thompson is the greatest GM in history ever written on this forum.

Just like other comments that you attribute to me recently on a closed thread that I've never written. At least be honest about what others post instead of creating arguments with falsehoods.

If you're getting frustrated with others viewpoints, take an hour break and then post a more carefully worded response.

Tweak some things? Like getting rid of TT and getting some guys that can actually cover? Yeah they need to tweak some things alright.

You seem to be forgetting we lost some guys too. I don't see anything or any moves that would make the pass rush any better thus far. Regardless, our outside corner guys are so bad that we would need our pass rushers to line up in the opposing teams backfield to have a chance.

But sure we can "hope and dream"

Enlighten me please. When doing so, also remember the reverse of your logic, what some consider "high character" can be different than another and doesn't always equate to being a good teammate.

With a 9 mil cap hit and Adams, Linsley,Burnett, Dix and Rodgers still to get paid, I'd say the chances of this are slim to none. Also TT is risk averse in the extreme. This would qualify as a risk.

I wouldn't let not being able to make cap space the deciding factor, the Packers can always find cap space through a number of moves, if its a justifiable investment.

We are not in a "cap crunch". Not bringing back Matthews and Cobb will add 25 in cap space next season and they have over 20 mill right now and the salary cap is gonna go up significantly over the next few years as well.

We are dealing with a GM that doesn't like to spend money and is way to old school to win a Super Bowl in today's NFL.

While exploring the possibility of the Miami Dolphins trading for Sherman, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald was told by a NFL source that the Seahawks are asking for “a very good player plus a high draft pick.”

hmmmmm.....Clay and a second rounder? :D

Sounds great to me.

It's coming out now that Sherman wants out of Seattle and is demanding to be traded. At least this is what I am hearing from close friends who live there.

Maybe we should have re-signed Lacy and then traded him and a #1 pick for Sherman.

Then we still need 2 or 3 quality pass rushers. Makes no sense to give up the house for a system guy imo.

Seriously? If the Packers were confident in Sherman being able to fit in, you wouldn't shed Clay Matthews, his contract and a 2nd round pick for him?

I wouldn't. Matthews can still be elite. We need a pass rush.
I think I would take my chances at this point on Sherman over Clay in the still being able to play at an elite level department. Not saying Clay won't, but his last 2 seasons have to make you wonder if he will.

Silly to even talk about, because there is no way the Seahawks would want Matthews and his contract. They might settle for Cobb and a 2nd. ;)

Yep. I think Cobb would be the guy. They like smaller receivers and Matthews doesn't fit there defense as well.

Cobb and Baldwin would give them a nice 1-2 punch. Plus Cobb is only 26.
