Everything evolves, nothing contract wise across any industry doesn’t change. I understand folks feel they’re spoiled or overpaid and should shut up and just accept the same contracts from ten years ago - but just not reality to how contract negotiations work.

They get the higher of their 2023/2024 average contract guaranteed slated at their draft order + 5% or a 15% increase off that guaranteed if signed before training camp.

I never said he shouldn’t get a raise? I also never said contracts shouldn’t change? I said after consideration, the counteroffer should his former guaranteed by draft placing and adjusted upwards by 5% increase later OR 15%
if he signs before training camp to create some urgency (this one came in at just over 16% increase off 2024) Big difference between me disagreeing with the AMOUNT of the offer and you somehow suggesting that I’m negating it altogether. I just don’t believe in crumbling to player demands and apparently neither did our FO thank you God.
You’re right though, I don’t know everything about contracts, but I know people I study them for a living and I sit across a desk and consummate contracts. So I know enough to understand why finding an area where both parties win is the objective
