Can someone explain to me (and I was ask this again today,) how a opponent can call a time out
while kicking a field goal after the ball is in the air???

Anyone?

Icing the kicker man. You call the timeout just before the ball is snapped.

Dallas tried the same last season in the playoff game. Didn't work. Lucky for Vikings this time around.

Icing the kicker I understand and making the kicker think about it, but it should be a rule before the ball is placed in position, only fair to me.

Same as any other timeout. Lots of times QBs call a timeout after ball is placed but before the snap. Don't see why this should be any different.

Timing of calling the timeout is roughly the same as when AR calls timeout with zero seconds on the play clock. Bang-bang like that.

They didnt. They called the timeout before the ball was snapped. The refs then blew the whistle after the snap.

We have a lot of things to complain about after the poor officiating. This is not one of them.

If I'm the NFL, I'm doing away with it. There are just too many moments during the game now where they are just killing the excitement of a play. Seems like every great play you are looking for a flag or a review before you can cheer. Now you are layering timeouts. From a viewer watching standpoint, it doesn't make great TV.

But how can they make the distinction of calling a timeout to ice the kicker or calling a timeout to legitimately adjust formations/play calling/whatever? MM did the same thing, he just didnt wait until as close to the last second the way Zimmer did.

Maybe freeze it at 5 seconds (unless the offense shifts out of formation).

And not just coming from a position of the Packers lost. Even when watching other games, I'm not a fan.

The NFL can't prevent a team from taking a timeout at any point during the game if they still have one. It's not allowed to use two per dead-ball period anymore though.

I'm more annoyed by the time out Rodgers tried to call late in the game when it mattered. It was hilarious how he was running down the field, frantically signaling time out while the official just stared at him. Sorry Aaron, you and MM thought is was more important to save five yards on first and 10 a couple times to avoid delay of game penalties than it was to stop the clock on a potential game winning drive. That was the difference between a 52 yard game winning field goal and a 35-40 yarder.
