At some point the Vikings needed to stop renting old and/or re-tread QBs. They drafted a kid that looked to be the real thing. Of course, you only find out when the games really count.

I thought that letting Daniel Jones out the door was the only real mistake.
> Cousins priced himself out and quite frankly never got it done in Minnesota - pass
> Darnold folded under playoff pressure and the coaching staff smelled rotten goods - pass
> Rodgers was coming off multiple poor seasons and a major injury at 41yrs old - smart pass

They should stick with JJ.

He is a role player. And we need that.
And he looks solid. It seems that when he is in on those running plays; we do a lot better than just having an extra TE. And I'm a lot more comfortable when we need a fill in, he us available

The Vikings are a dumpster fire. There will probably be some changes on the sidelines and front office after this season ends in total disaster. The sad part is that I believe they have a solid coaching staff it's just that they've been the victim of a QB carousel, and that rarely ends well for any team. Eventually the wheels come off, and you fall like a rock.

Adding to their problems is the fact that their offensive line has been decimated by injuries. That adds to the problem at QB significantly, and for a young QB it means disaster.

JJ missed his rookie year in 2024, so this is really his rookie season. He has proven he can lead his team to win games, not to mention a couple come from behind, 4thQ wins. I'm not going to call/consider him a bust, or say he doesn't have what it takes to be a starter in the NFL, after a half a season of starts this year. He has some intangibles, one being a winner at all levels of football.

And that's how minihaha should handle it the next 3 or 4 years. ;)

Am I getting this right? The Vikings had Kirk Cousins, let Sam Darnold go after finishing 14-3 (Now 8-3 with Seattle), had Daniel Jones in-house as backup and let him go (Now 8-3 with Colts), AND perhaps turned down signing Aaron Rodgers for favor of a kid who looks to hardly even be backup quality? Sheesh
It never made a microcosm of sense to me. Truthfully I was relieved as a North contending fan, but confused why they were so invested on JJ. Just totally threw him to the wolves.

I feel we run a bit better to the right side when he is in instead of Tom. Just the eye test, no stats.

Maybe. But he, I think, is just learning R guard and is already better than Morgan there. I'm a fan. And I go by my gut alot. I think stats on lineplay is, well, I don't trust in it. There are nuances everywhere on the field that aren't going to be picked up by stats guys. Maybe ai will eventually take over all that. I'm kind of glad I won't have to see it. And even if it does; it's the fan that loses out. Because they will never actually understand the game when all they do is run to the stat line and not figure it out by watching. imho

As much as it sucks. I agree. We need to find out what the kid has. Right now, it looks like he has nothing. But, he wouldn't be the first player to look like that after their first 7 games. I don't think he plays this week. I think we see Max. And if Max plays well, we may have a bit of a QB competition. I hope we do. That would be fun. After all, the season is already toast.

The only teams in the 2025 season that have ZERO losses by 7 or more points:

Green Bay Packers
That stat really puts things in perspective. They should not have lost to Cleveland and Carolina - but I think you said this - winning in the NFL, regardless of opponent, is hard, every week. And then there are games like Philadelphia, albeit a loss, where the D allows 10 points to a very, very good offense.

IMO the Packers have more talent than their immediate rivals in the North, Detroit and Chicago. Chicago is playing above their talent level, and Detroit has been struggling, despite being healthier than the 15-2 (really 15-3) team from last season. I expect the Packers to beat the Lions tomorrow.

Injuries to Kraft, Reed, Jenkins and others have chipped at the total talent level on offense. It's a credit to Gluten that the team has enough quality depth to overcome injuries to these key contributors.

I'm encouraged by the play of Watson after a long rehab, and the D is superb, even the CBs seem to be playing better lately. And Golden hasn't even been tapped yet. It's a good time to be a Packer fan.

Yeah it's hard to draw conclusions about JJM's play after 7 starts. He has plenty to fix, and that's typical of new QBs. IMO, if he could fix one thing, it would be getting the ball out faster. In Jefferson, Addison, and Hockenson he has the horses to make that happen. He will need McDonnel (sp?) to create game plans so, even in a loss, he's able to make progress.

The Vikes should devote the rest off the season to JJM's development. Doesn't look like the team is playoff bound. The HC is very knowledgeable on the QB position. Give JJM opportunities to move the sticks, and don't make it complicated.

If he's not showing improvement by the end of the year - well that's a problem for the Vikes. They rightfully passed on a long-term commitment to Darnold (or did they?) and decided to go all in with their guy.

My concern is that he wasn't expected to do much at Michigan, so he doesn't have the kind of all-around talent a QB needs. Will that be his downfall? Way too early to tell. Talented athletes can learn new skills at any level. Just get the ball out quicker kid and you'll start to learn the position. Neither JJM or the Vikes have much to lose at this point.

Yep, that's a legitimate way to look at the situation with the queens Magooch. They got caught up, as many teams do, in picking a qB way too early in the draft.

And the queens did themselves no favors by spending a fortune in FA and getting a very small return.

So the problems in MN are more than JJM's lack of performance. Hey I hate the queens (yes, even more than da Bearz), but I have a little sympathy for JJM. He probably should have been drafted as a backup much later in the draft. Hindsight is 20/20.

I'm just glad we get to play the queens again. GB is 2-0 in the North. Let's make that 3-0 tomorrow. Packers 21, Lions 17.

You were spared my friend. I believe that at one point, Greg Olsen (who was the color commentator) described the Vikings after a terrible sequence on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down as now being at 4th & Ugly.

The Vikings offensive line really struggled. I feel really bad for Ryan Kelly. I don't think that he should be playing any more with his concussions, but he's decided to do so. The Packers took advantage of that.
I don't know why the medical staff can't put an end to a guy's season when he's experiencing ongoing concussions. It should be treated like a torn ACL, season ending. The team won't like to have to do it, but it's the right thing to do. I have visions of Tua T playing when he had no business being on the field, stumbling around. This is dangerous s%hit.

We all know what CTE can do. I hope the medical community is looking for ways to diagnose CTE before a guy dies. With MRIs getting better and better, along with other scanning devices and individual competency tests, this should be doable.

I'm gonna play what if. What if it wasn't us that got the benefit of a punt turnover on their 10 yard line and it was the other way around. Could have been a different game. I would not take the vikings so lightly. But one game at a time.

The thing is, JJM has shown streaks of really good play. Right now, I think he is overthinking the game. Maybe sitting out a week or two will help. I doubt he plays this week. And now we get to see what Max brings to the table. He looked really good in the pre-season, but then, it was only pre-season.

I am very excited to see Brosmer play, but also feel like for as smart as he is, he probably needs another year or two of acclimation before being thrown into the fire. I hope that he shows something.

Spot on gopkrs. They have Jefferson and Addison - arguably the best WR tandem in the NFL (although Lamb/Pickens are up there).

And Sunday was a good example on how big turnovers affect a game. I do believe in momentum, and turnovers are demoralizing for the losing team.

I still think the Packers win without that turnover, but it felt like the moment when the game changed and a Packer win was inevitable.
