Interesting how actual owners of NFL teams make moves or stays put vs a non-owner. Of course actual owners don't get fired.

I understand that but when you have a QB with that much talent you need a Ring. Sure there's other reasons for losing but at some point you have to realize McDermott,s not getting it done. Maybe with another team. Now, what's Josh going to do?
I just felt like an unbelievable confluence of negative impact plays occurred for the Bills yesterday. Their running back almost never fumbles, he coughed it up. Allen rarely fumbles, did so what, twice, yesterday. Then compounded by a terrible call on the OT interception. The receiver was on the ground, with possession, and down by contact, only to then have the ball ripped from his hands. I believe it's a mistake to fault McDermott, for "not getting it done"ĺ

I get that, but like LaFleur, it's not about one game, but rather the whole body of work, and the pattern.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't see LaFleur and McDermott in the same class. McDermott, but for a terrible call (IMHO), nearly overcame 4 highly unusual turnovers to win a game of games. LaFleur had THE GAME WON, and gave it away.

I'm not trying to say McDermott deserved to be fired, but I understand the reasoning. Being a Bills fan must be frustrating, and I do think there are some similarities with Green Bay in recent years. I agree LaFleur's situation is worse though. He has a young, improving quarterback in Love, and a young team, but instead of improving, the team is getting worse every year. 0-3 to finish last year, 0-5 to finish this year, with numerous games that were choked away. 1-5 in the last six playoff games. Maybe they'll suddenly mature and bloom next year, but at this point I have a "Prove it" attitude.

I'm not allowed to give a simple, thumbs up, so I'll just say I agree wholeheartedly.

Bills just fired Sean McDermott, making Matt Lafleur the longest tenured current head coach in the NFL to never make it to the Super Bowl.

Too bad he didn’t work for Ed Policy, he’d have gotten a big raise and contract extension instead.

This is a firing that shocked me. Bills lose to the best team in football in OT, on the road. Meh....if I was a Bills fan, I wouldn't like this. McDermott will land on his feet fast, if he wants to be a HC again.

Under McDermott:

The Bills have reached the divisional round in six straight seasons and twice advanced to the AFC Championship Game (in 2020 and 2024) but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in both of those title game appearances. McDermott finishes his Buffalo tenure with a regular-season record of 98-50 and a postseason record of 8-8.

And yet MLF gets EXTENDED for having a 3-6 record in the playoffs. Absolutely incredible

Ed doesn't care about accountability.
As soon as I heard about Ed, Gute and MLF having dinner together, I knew there were extensions coming.

It’s never been more a good old boy club in Green Bay.

It’s unprofessional and contrary to good business practices for employees to be good friends with their bosses. Good professional relationships, of course. Close friendships, no. That why workplaces typically have fraternization policies. It’s a conflict of interest waiting to happen if things go badly.

Little bit of a devil's advocate type question here.

Which do we feel is more likely:

A.) That the Packers as an organization have the front office, the roster construction, and the scouting/research ability to find and sign a better-than-LaFleur coach to replace him with; or,

B.) That LaFleur is finally able in Year 8 to put many of his mistakes and flaws behind him and take the step into being "elite"

Or, in other words - in the event that we did get rid of LaFleur, how much trust in the organization do you have to find an improvement? This isn't a "Who would we hire??" question - because that's not my job. It IS, however, the front office's job to make that determination. How much confidence do you have in them to make the right move there?

Obviously a hypothetical at this point, but just kind of had me thinking this afternoon.

Great points. And the board of directors are also a part of it. They are basically local politicians that have the in.

Let that sink in...YEAR 8. And only 3 wins in the playoffs. I get being devil advocate but when the standards are higher in Buffalo, Baltimore etc. Green Bay has dropped the ball

Well, you are in good company. Watched the Rams tonight, and thought, what could we do with McVey as our coach?
I had the same thought, and to take it a step further - when I watched the Seahawks, I felt a deep sense of dread. We play the #2 team from the NFC West next year, and there's a good chance that will be Seattle. That team, with that coach is absolutely not someone I want to go up against even if it would be a Lambeau game (which it would). Macdonald is exactly the kind of coach I would love to see in Green Bay; where could this team be if they played like the Seahawks?

Was Matt fired?

Should we close and lock?
I suspect that by mid-season, it'll need to be a sticky.
