It's true that at some point the money being paid to a player has to be accounted for towards the cap. It's still important to realize the cap hit in a season can be vastly different than the average salary to kind of circumvent the cap.

FWIW only two years of Rodgers deal were guaranteed.

Rodgers was guaranteed $150,815,000, call it what you want, 2 years of guaranteed money or 3, it still comes to over $50M/year that the Packers guaranteed and will have to account for.

FYI the Packers fully guaranteed Rodgers $101.5 million over the first two years of his contract. The 2024 option bonus of $47 million is solely injury guaranteed.
