From what my untrained eyes saw.

Adams wasnt open and rodgers didnt use progression..he didnt use it because to me...he seemed to be locked in only k adams..

And that is the issue some of us have he doesnt look else where..

And this was a perfect example of what we are saying

Like I said above, I am going to go back and watch that play again, because you and others are saying the same thing and probably are correct. Call my response a reaction to what I hear too often "he missed the open receiver". Then you go back and look at that play and the "open receiver" was on the opposite side of the field and in no way could Rodgers have seen him, nor probably stop and get the ball to him if he had.

Also...have you seen "K adams"? Can you blame him for being locked in?

MVS (before OT)
Jenkins (that guy is turning into one heck of an offensive lineman at basically every possible position)

Duds:
Gute

MVS (OT)
Special Teams

First, for everyone angry at MVS (the people sending that kid death threats need to be shot off the planet in a howitzer), he absolutely deserves it; but don't forget the guy that put him in that position. Gute continues to show that his offseason of preparing for the future has hamstrung a legit Super Bowl worthy team. The Packers have a terrible receiving group and terrible dline.

Jenkins is so, SO good at every position on the oline. I'm starting to think they should let him play ILB on defense since apparently he can play anywhere at an All-Pro level.

Finally, special shoutout to MLF who got thoroughly outcoached when Frank ***** took the dastardly step of using half-time to make adjustments. I'm pretty sure at this point that MLF uses halftime for a quick power nap.

I haven't read the entire thread so perhaps someone has touched on this, but....as much as I love Matt LaFleur and what he's been able to do with this team, he deserves some kind of culpability for why his teams have these disappearing acts.

I'm not displeased with him, nor am I sounding the alarm on him. But when your team has shown the vulnerability of big time let downs more than a couple of times, we need to be objective and at least ask the question of what LaFleur could be doing better to motivate and galvanize the team.

In the big picture, I'm sold on LaFleur. But we've seen things go big time wrong on multiple occasions now. So I don't want to completely let him off the hook for that.

Everyone needs to look in the mirror.

The play was designed to go to Adams. The play design was terrible. MLF seemed to forget that the defense could double cover Adams. Even the release by Williams as an outlet only happened after Williams realized he didn't need to block anyone and just ran down the field. Also, hate to point this out, but Rodgers threw the ball to Adams 8 times; he threw the ball to other people 30 times. Not sure where "he doesn't look elsewhere" comes from.

The thing is, when it is a play for a longer 3rd down; Rodgers does not seem to look for anyone else. Yeah, he throws a lot of balls short and to backs and all that gets counted in your stat. But I would like to see him spread it around more when he sets up and starts looking over the field. And I think he was doing more of that in the first half. Sternberger for example seemed more involved. And I hate to see EQ and MVS on the field at the same time.

I doubt Rodgers likes it much either. ;)

While I realize what you are trying to say, because there is a bit of truth to it. When you further narrow it down to "only looking for Adams on longer 3rd downs", I think you are directing the narrative that is controlling your own thoughts. Basically, you realize just how important that "long 3rd down play is" and assume its always to Adams, because that would be the logical guy you pick in a key 3rd down. When in reality I think if you watch a game with that in mind, Adams is not the only player getting balls coming his way on 3rd or even 4th down. Also, if that in fact is happening, then it might not just be Rodgers you want to point to, since MLF is involved in play calling and may very well be calling plays that have Adams as the primary target on these critical plays.

I guess. But that last incompletion to Adams did not have a chance. And if he took the time to look on the other side of the field...Maybe he gets sacked. But it is still an easy field goal. Might not have mattered if he did not throw away a down by clocking it. They sure looked good in the 1st half though.

That we can agree on. I still would like to hear from Rodgers why he chose to do that twice during the drive. He has been a QB that tends to not always clock it in that situation. Did he want different personnel on the field, did he want a chance to huddle up, did MLF tell him to clock it so that a play could be sent in, were the players tired and needed a rest?? Again, we can all assume it was Rodgers making the decisions but was it and what were the reasons?

So u throw it to him even tho covered? And dont look at all to any one else?

This is why I said he didnt use a progression..if he did, probably
would been a win

Regardless if adams was number 1 (which he normally always is)

For me there is no good excuse. The situation was one where we just threw away a very important down. And really, I don't know why he clocked it earlier either. You only clock it when time is an issue.

I think you misunderstood, there weren't other options. The play design was to get Adams open, it was a scripted play that the Colts destroyed. The other receivers weren't looking for the ball because they weren't supposed to get the pass.

Or, we could go with your theory, that the best QB in NFL history doesn't know what a progression is.

Ok....I went back and watched that last drive of regulation and here are my observations on the play in question where some are claiming Rodgers should have found Tonyan in the endzone or taken a sack.
  • Packers had no timeouts left.
  • It was 3rd down
  • After the incompletion there were 7 seconds on the clock.
  • Rodgers had 2 Colt players bearing down on him in less than 3 seconds, he didn't have time for more reads.
  • Tonyan was on the far right side of the endzone and made his move as Rodgers released the ball to Adams.
So again, this seems like a case of FOX showing an apparently wide open Tonyan in the end zone and people immediately jump to the "Rodgers only looks at Adams" conclusion. First of all, if Rodgers takes a sack, game over. They can't get the FG unit on the field in 7 seconds. Yes Adams was his primary receiver from the snap and why not in that situation, but given how fast those 2 guys were in on Rodgers, he had no choice but to basically throw the ball away. If he is afforded 2 -3 more seconds to look around, he probably finds Tonyan, game over.

Go watch the play and you tell me how Rodgers gets the ball to Tonyan.

Here it is as well.....go to 12:58 mark. I think the play call was on the fly and what you do when you only have one play to score a TD and not take a sack.....you go to your #1 receiver.
Like I said, I think if Rodgers has more time, he might have found Tonyan, who actually after looking again, is just crossing the goal line (not even close to finishing his route or were FOX news showed him on replay) as Rodgers is releasing the ball. Bad timing for Bahk and Turner to not put in their best blocking efforts as well.

The more I look at the play, the less I like it, but I am also very sure that this was totally a designed play to go to Davante. Notice that both MVS and Lazard cut their routes off 5 and 4 yards in front of the endzone. No way do you throw them the ball unless there isn't a defender near them. If they catch it and get tackled before the EZ, game over.

Warning, I am hanging onto this example for the next time someone brings up "Rodgers only throws to Adams" :D

Thats why tonyan was turning around and motioning to himself?

He did expect it?

Can you show me proof only adams was to get it?

I know we're giving Duds about the team, but I have a major Dud. The fans who vent on social media and attack the players, in particular MVS and using death threats. Are you freaking kidding me??? It's a GAME.

I'm ashamed of them. I have my own frustrations about the game and in particular the second half. But if we forget that we are all human beings, then what is the point?

Ok. I'm done with my rant. Carry on.

Can you show me proof that the best QB ever doesn't know what a progression is? I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the best guy at his job in the world.

Pretty sure it has happened before in GB. Dan Devine. It is absurd and a downright sin. These people's priorities are in the toilet. I can only imagine their homelife.

You need to watch the play, there were no other options.

Shoot the play caller or the OL, because if you watch the play a few times you will understand what I am saying.

Adams was obviously the main target on the play. Both MVS and Lazard parked themselves way short of the goal line to keep their defenders there. If Rodgers throws either of them the ball, they both are most likely tackled before reaching the EZ, game over.

The notion that Tonyan should have been the target because he was "open" is a joke. Yes, had Rodgers been afforded 2-3 more seconds, Tonyan could have been a second option. However, Rodgers had 2 Colt players in his face when he released the ball to Adams and at that moment, Tonyan was just crossing the goal line. The cut away to a wide open Tonyan by FOX is a good example of media distortion, he was just crossing the goal line and his back was turned away from Rodgers. The FOX shot was taken well after the ball was thrown.

I think my main point here is this is just another example of fans wanting to argue that Rodgers should have thrown to someone else because they were "wide open". However, when you actually break the play down, he had one option, Adams.

Wrong play hated it..if it truly was only go to adams, then it was wrong imo

Should had more optins
