Khalen Saunders, iDL from Western Illinois was another guy who got a lot of positive buzz in practice and played really well in the game. He has plus athleticism for a big man, as evidenced by his ability to win on the edge at times at 6'1" 320 lbs.

Corey Ballentine, small school CB (Washburn), has received a ton of positive reviews. If he works out well, his stock could see a big boost.

I really like Saunders and Mack, I'm worried they will test so well that they will no longer be Day 3 picks, but firmly in the 3rd Round. But I would like Pettine to get a hold of either. If we could somehow trade back for a total of like 13-15 picks both, lol.

of course I did, but you're being such a twit about everything it's hard to even converse with you lately. never mind I said OLine, Dline, Either linebacker position, Safeties and then I added, if they don't feel good about King's health and we can't retain Breeland, DB could be back on the table. I must have said that in at least 4 of your ranting threads about RB's and WR's. Only you would think our defensive backfield is secured with 2 picks that aren't even on the team anymore LOL

I thought with a new year, things could start new, but you're about to start it where you finished the last.

Our defensive backfield will never be secured Mondio at the rate we have been going so I'm done with it. These conversations have been going on for "years".

Speaking of the new year I was also hoping we could start the new year off different too and stop this nonsense with just piling up more picks on the defensive side of the ball and get Rodgers help for the tail end of his career.

If you want a WR, 2020 is really the class to look for a No. 1 WR. You won't see many articles yet with all the eyes set on 2019, but after April they will start to garner their own interest.

This was the first article I saw but Wallace and Ruggs II were guys I saw do some crazy things with the football this past year.

Awwwww, the good old "Next Year Trick". That one has been played out over and over too several times on here. Yeah, well take care of it next year alright and then more bust picks on defense and the same thing next year. It's all become too predictable.

We simply don't have the time anymore to be playing these games.

Unfortunately it makes sense, we just drafted 3 WRs a year ago. You rarely can just discard guys as being fodder after one year. I'm sorry if you don't like that they weren't 1st Round guys.

Speaking of... let's see where our guys panned out compared to those 1st Rounders and every other rookie last year. There were 44 total rookie WRs on NFL rosters who registered a receiving stat in 2018.

MVS - Ranked 6th in receptions and yards with 38 for 581. Ranthed 10th in average with 15.3 ypc. Tied at 9th in TDs(5 other WRs to include DJ Moore, Michael Gallup, and Desean Hamilton) with 2.

ESB - 14th in receptions with 21. 12th in yards for 328. Ranked 8th in ypc with 15.6 Tied at 21st (23 other WRs to include DJ Chark) with 0 TDs.

Moore - Tied at 35th (3 other WRs) with 2 receptions. 38th in yards with 15. 39th in ypc with 7.5 Tied at 21st with 0 TDs (along with 23 other WRs to include DJ Chark). Moore was the only disappointment, but we all know he struggled.

But you take MVS and ESB, Day 3 guys who outperformed many guys who went Day 1 and Day 2, (with MVS being in the Top 10 of all the major receiving categories.) That's incredible value. How can you not give those guys a chance to blossom in 2019? If they falter down the stretch with what SHOULD be an improved offensive line, improved running game, and improved playcalling, I'm all on board a new face in the WR Corps in 2020.

It actually makes zero sense to continue to put rebuilding the offense on hold just to recklessly draft more db's or defense for that matter with so many top picks. We've proven every which way it doesn't work and it has gotten pathetic. The level of entitlement regarding this is actually rather frightening.

People keep bringing up these rookie stats but the offense was a bust for the most part so I dont care. We are not a talented offense overall is the bottom line. What weve seen is a negative transformation of our offense due to putting everything on AR12 with entitlement picks on defense which goes against the obvious trends of where the league is headed.

If people want to go 4-12 or maybe worse keep drafting defense with all our top picks.

Nobody has said we need to put the offense on hold. It's an empty narrative that you're making up.

I'll repeat it, nobody is saying "forget the offense". I don't know where you're getting these things from.

Well I was just answering a post that someone seems to think we should wait until 2020 to draft a receiver with a top pick. If that's not putting rebuilding the offense on hold considering Rodgers is 35 I'm not sure what is.

So the only time an offense is rebuilt is when a 1st Round Draft Pick is made?

You realize we have a new General Manager right? Who's going to build the offense and defense in his own image per guidance from the new Head Coach.

We currently have TEN(10) picks. I'm confident Gutekunst will use at least 4-6 of them for the offense.

Wasn't aware that a WR is the only position that can help our offense.

OL is a much bigger need than WR.

But again, a 2nd day pick is a top pick. Nobody is saying we shouldn't take a WR there. You're making up arguments in your head again.

Only a 1st round pick, and only a WR, and only a WR that Brandon likes.

I only casually watched the game yesterday, one guy that popped out at me was Charles Omenihu. Not sure if he would be a fit into the Packers defense, but man the guy is quick for 6'6" and with his wing span, seemed to make some pretty decent tackles that I have seen NFL guys whiff on.

Omenihu had an impressive week. He could be a 2nd or 3rd Rounder now. The sheer talent of this DL Class never ceases to amaze me.

Better get a WR tho

I've never said we had to draft a receiver at 12 but feel overall offense needs to be the primary focus in this draft as were running out of time. I do have reciever as a primary need and believe it needs to be addressed with one of our first 3 picks.

I dont see how that is crazy or absurd considering we have been drafting defense and db's with top picks for years and we still suck.

Sorry, I can't do fantasy land anymore.

That was 2015, neither player is still on the team, it was one of Ted Thompson's most failed draft classes. Gute had to correct that in 2018. Or were we supposed to just line up practice squad players at CB and hope for the best?

The first 3 drafts I expect Gute to clean up the stink on this team, unfortunately most of TT's missed picks were on defense. He seemed to fair better picking offense.

Again, next year depending on MVS, ESB, Moore, and Jimmy's growth within this offense I wouldn't mind drafting a WR or TE 1st Round. But with the defensive talent in this year's class we could potentially set it and forget it for the next 5-7 years depending on how well Gute manages the cap. Remember Peyton Manning's last SB was more the result of an excellent defense than his own efforts, he just helped seal the deal. I could see AR doing similar down the stretch.

Yes, it was 2015 and we can't re-do it so I'm not gonna try like everyone has been doing for years now. Ted Thompson was kept way too long and now our franchise QB is 35. There was a time I was "all aboard" on this building a championship defense train. It's too late now considering where our defense is currently along with adding the new league rules to the equation. Just too many moving parts and the Packers would have to draft near perfect while pouring in all remaining resources to have a chance. I just don't see any real hope in all that.

The path of least resistance for us is re-building this offense and giving Rodgers every weapon we can while hoping he can re-capture his greatness and trying to do it that way.

Players I heard consistent positives for during the week of practice:
  • Andre Dillard, OT, WSU
  • Tytus Howard, OT, ALSU
  • Chuma Edoga, OT, USC
  • Dalton Risner, OL, KSU
  • Garrett Bradbury, OL, NCSU
  • Deebo Samuel, WR, SC
  • Penny Hart, WR, GSU
  • Terry McLaurin, WR, OSU
  • Renell Wren, DL, ASU
  • Rock Ya-Sin, CB, TEM

OLB Sweat really stood out to me in the game. Probably moved into the middle of the 1st.

Doss looked good and helped himself.

Like Renfro but only because the announcer sounded like scooby do everytime the announce said his name.

And Brandon, I understand you want to emphasize offense in the draft.
