After re-watching the game, the game winning move was MLF deciding to go for it on that 4th down. With the way the secondary was playing and with the kickoff rules, kicking a FG there would have resulted in probably a loss. Giving them the ball with 2 min and change to get into FG range would have been disastrous.
Correct. A tie game and they are under no pressure to get into the end zone. And with the way they were marching down the field I believe they win. A TD for us and using some clock made a difference.

Concerns about this team after Arizona game: PFF grades. Hobbs $40+ contract. Arizona has a good O but frankly GB was supposed to better. Love continues to be an enigma each week, the DB's and LB's are not a plus right now. Not much to say about Morgan- he has been terrible all season.

Bottom 5 offense

  1. RG Jordan Morgan: 34.8
  2. TE Luke Musgrave: 42.8
  3. TE John FitzPatrick: 46.0
  4. WR Malik Heath: 50.6
  5. QB Jordan Love: 53.5
Morgan struggled as a run blocker (27.8 grade). Musgrave also struggled as a run blocker FitzPatrick was was penalized for pass interference and caught just one pass for six yards running 10 routes. Heath flagged for being offsides. Love didn't have a completion thrown more than 20 yards down the field, struggled against pressure and had zero big-time throws and two turnover worthy plays.

Bottom 5 defense

  1. DE Barryn Sorrell: 40.0
  2. CB Nate Hobbs: 47.9
  3. LB Edgerrin Cooper: 49.8
  4. CB Keisean Nixon: 57.7
  5. LB Quay Walker: 58.6
Sorrell didn't have a pressure or a tackle despite playing 30 snaps, including 22 as a pass-rusher, was penalized for offsides. Hobbs gave up four catches on five targets for 87 yards, missed two tackles and was flagged for holding. Cooper broke up a pass and had two stops, but missed a tackle, gave up four catches earned a poor (35.7) against the run. Nixon gave up three catches and a touchdown pass, was penalized once for illegal contact. Walker elite pass-rushing grade with five pressures, missed a tackle, gave up five catches struggled against the run, flagged for roughing the passer.
I think we may need to take one of the linebackers out on obvious passing downs and that's when to put Hobbs in. Until then, leave Hobbs on the sideline. Maybe even put Anderson in instead of Hobbs if he's ready.Just keep a linebacker in the middle to blitz, cover or look to stop a sneaky run or QB run. So him and an extra safety to take over for one of the linebackers. I guess we'd have a dime package.

Morgan struggled as a run blocker (27.8 grade).

The bolded statement is just a flat incorrect statement. Morgan is for sure like essentially all or lineman not named Walker or Tom experiencing a roller coaster type season, but Morgan has definitely not been terrible all season and there is a reason why he is now the RG starter over Rhyan.

His strongest games this year according to PFF (since I suspect you are blindly trusting those numbers far too much) were Week 1 vs Detroit, Week 4 vs Dallas and Week 6 vs Cinci

Our OL and their sacks per pass blocking snap: Jenkins .9% / Walker 1.4% / Morgan .5% / Rhyan .7% / Banks .9% / Tom 0% / Kinnard 0%
Pressures per pass blocking snap: Jenkins 2.7% / Walker 8.3% / Morgan 6.1% / Rhyan 6.9% / Banks 3.5% / Tom 3.3% / Kinnard 9.2%

His run blocking has been stellar most games this year, only twice did according to PFF he flop in that category (Washington and Arizona).

Anyone thinking Morgan has been terrible all season I'd argue is just ignoring a lot or not taking the time to dig into his reps deeper.

Once again I'm reminded that both are true at the same time...

1. It's tough to win in the NFL, there are very few "easy" wins in the league even if they look that way on paper

2. We CAN perform better than we have in many games thus far AND it's not unreasonable for fans to ask for better performances and/or to say that we "should" have won more convincingly in these contests...AND more importantly to remember that we will NEED to be better if we want to achieve our goals for this season

Marathon not a sprint and all that, you don't win the Super Bowl in October, but I think the bottom line is that through 7 weeks I suspect there are very few who would say that we are currently playing up to our potential right now
Agree, and we have 1 loss. Only one other team in the league can say that.
