Willis doesn't look to have a great surrounding cast. If he can play as well as he played in GB, it should not require Miami to use a top 5 pick on a QB. Willis would have to be terrible for that to happen, given the financial commitment Miami just made for him. As you note though, he didn't et paid anywhere elite QB money.

I'm a bit paranoid. Something about the signing feels like theatre. "See we are totally trying this year! Totally not tanking!" and thus I view a lot of their choices skeptically.

Yeah I guess every team has to put on a brave face for the fans. It wouldn't do to say "We are gonna suck this year but we're rebuilding around a young, dynamic QB and have great plans for the next draft." And at $179m in dead cap, that's a tough message to send.

I am interested in how Willis does this year. Except for the game against us, I'm cheering for him to be successful. Well, to a point…. Same for Hafley. Wish him well, just not at the Packers' expense.

Just hope we are not one of their 7 wins.
I’m sure Hafley and Willis would like nothing more than to say they beat Green Bay in a Roster rebuild. You know how X Packers tend to play better against us. Although this is a rare case where both QB and Coach were propelled by our Staff, so there’s no bad blood between us here.

Yes and as we know not all good Coordinators translate to good HC’s.

I do like Hafley though. He’s got a humble and engaging demeanor and that’s hard not to like. I would offer that if Miami is beating teams like GB? They’ll likely be beating other teams in our Division as well.
Miami actually has a brutal schedule.
They start out with @ Raiders.
49ers
Chiefs
Vikings
Bengals
Jets
Patriots
Lions
Colts
Bills
Jets
Broncos
Bears
Packers
Chargers
Bills
Patriots.

I could 100% see some strings of 3-4 losses. The Raiders now have Cousins-Mendoza combo. Bengals have Burrow back practicing. Colts have Daniel Jones practicing. Lions are well run and will likely bounce back, plus they have some cap to add. Vikings were on a tear at end of last season finishing 5-0. It’s not an easy schedule past maybe NY. Their last 6 games are brutal. Of course to be fair our schedule is also pretty tough, but at least GB is not in rebuilding status.

I just hope MLF doesn't hit the brakes, in order to not "embarrass" Hafley and the Dolphins, if we by chance jump out to a big lead by halftime.
