Our defense has some serious versatility now. Neal, Jones, Perry, Peppers can all play on the line or standing up.

I bet Raji will try to eat Peppers if Peppers tries to take number 90 .
The contract specifics will be organization friendly. It looks like a one year stop gap insurance play to me. I think Ted will try to trade Peppers during the 2015 draft to a dummy org like Washington, Dallas, cleveland or Buffalo.
Why? We have to use up some of our cap space somehow...If those numbers are really accurate I truly think TT has lost his mind.
No. If TT had listened to some of our idiot fans we would still be suffering from the contracts of Haynesworth and others. So all the fans like me who had been whining about not utilizing free agency to assemble talent, hmm, jeez, perhaps we had a point????

Heres a fun fact. The Bears cap hit will be $8.36M this year for Peppers. Packer cap hit will be nearly $5M less.Heard its only a 3.5 million cap hit this year
2011: 11
2012: 11.5
2013: 7.5
Sack total past 3 years. It's not like the guy is dead.
I don't like the signing, even though I like the player.
Spraypaintedhair (Capers) has been misusing everyone in the defensive front for 3 years running now - what makes anyone think he'll suddenly figure out how to use the pieces he's been given??
His "go-to" defense is the 2-4; plays it more than any team in the league - where does Capers fit in the 2-4?? If Capers fits in the 2-4, that means that one or more of D. Jones, Perry, and Daniels will be camping on the sideline - neverminding the fact that the 2-4 has been nothing but a disaster anyway.
This signing just smacks of more misuse of talent by Capers. We have one of the worst defenses in the league, but I think we have a talented defense in terms of players - that means the finger is squarely pointed at Spraypaintedhair.
Things I like about the signing
1. The structure of the contract. Its not brutal
2. Low risk
3. We hurt the bears and helped ourselves by signing peppers
Things I dont like
1. He isnt a perfect fit for the defense as we know it today. This could change though.
2. I would have preferred a DT or S.
First, calling Capers names reflects more on you than it does on him. Second, how in hell can you accuse Capers of misusing a player he hasn’t coached? Capers looked a lot smarter in 2009 and 2010 than he has since; why do you suppose that is?This signing just smacks of more misuse of talent by Capers. We have one of the worst defenses in the league, but I think we have a talented defense in terms of players - that means the finger is squarely pointed at Spraypaintedhair.
As I've posted repeatedly there's no rule forcing teams to spend a certain amount of the cap space for a single season.

That says starting this year teams have to spend 95%
