I saw this article the other day, had to laugh. Maybe Wilson thinks he can be a #1 RB with a team next year, but someone better remind the author that Wilson will be a RFA after this season.

Interesting I didn’t realize he was restricted.

He's restricted in more ways than one. Good as he is, Wilson is not a complete back and I seriously doubt that anyone sees him as a 17-game RB.

I just read that the Fox announcers will be:
Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play)
Tom Brady (analyst)
Erin Andrews (sidelines)
Tom Rinaldi (sidelines)

Agreed. The weather will not be so bad that it dictates running - although I expect both teams to run a lot.

I'd like to see Wilson get more snaps because 1) he has a different running style than Jacobs, more of a slasher/swimmer like Aaron Jones, but bigger and 2) it gets Jacobs some rest - and with his running style that's a good thing.

Still expecting this to be a relatively easy win for GB, 27-20 or 27-14. I just don't see the Bears' offense as better than the Packers' defense.

A number of writers are predicting a split in the series. I don't see it happening. I expect the Packers to win both games, and go 6-0 in the North.
The ground will be on the harder side although nothing like the old astro turf. Holding onto the ball and gripping it will be a challenge. The holder on placekicks has to be on his game. Bears will be going for the ball. We have to protect it.

Happy Game day!

Bears will have a difficult day on defense. Their secondary will be unable to match the receivers and there will be lots of targets for Love. Our running game will be adequate and relied on. We could have had more points, but we will run the. Clock with runs rather than passing every down.

The Bears rely on turnovers to maintain their poor defense. Packers dont turnover the ball much. It's sort of the immovable object vrs the irresistible force thing. And I think the Packers come out ahead.

The only concern is our run defense. Bears OL is really good and their run game should be respected. Our run defense has some questions at DT at the moment. As far as the Bears passing attack, their top WR is out and Caleb holds the ball too long. May be some great opportunities for Parsons.

So, if we can get up early and force them to pass, I think it will be over for da Bears.

Packers 30 Bears 17

But you never know when its Packers vrs Bears. It's always much tougher than you think.

I was as critical as anyone several games ago. Since then though Haf has let Parsons line up all over the place and the offense has changed, imho, for the better. More under center. Less predictability. And so I have no complaints. Nor will I do much second guessing unless we do stupid things like try and run the clock out too early or not take points when we should. Expecting us to take care of business. GoPackGo!

Packers picked up a NT that's 350. I like the move. No career sacks is the definition of one dimensional. But if he gets that push in the middle and holds the point when doubled.... That will come in handy in Jan.
Agreed. Nothing wrong with having someone that big in the middle for running downs. And the Bears have one of the best, maybe the best, RB duo I've seen this season. They wear defenses down, and they wore down the Packers D in the 2H.

Wyatt would have made the game easier yesterday. But the D handled Monangai and Swift well, and I think GB has slightly more running yards.

I was just thinking that exact same thing recently. Wilson is actually a pretty dynamic blend of quickness and power. He’s not flashy level or a home run hitter, but his carry load probably has his legs fresh for one. We need Jacobs healthy down the stretch and if I recall he hit his knee pretty hard and limped off the field. Ok use him, but maybe 1/2 his snaps in this one and get EW going.

This is true. Chicago has this weird X factor.

First they obviously focus on takeaways. We even watched them rip the ball away from Hurts on the Tush Push which gave the league some ideas to mitigate that play. Yet the point being they don’t get “lucky” they are very intentional. Eerily similar to the 2010 Packers, where when I followed them they were net +20 going into postseason area. Yet our D hovered top 3 AND opportunistic. Chicago relies on opportunistic to stay “average”

Counter: Play them Clean

This is extremely cold weather making the ball easier to dislodge. Also if GB either has 0 Turnovers or stays even or even +?? Imo there’s a 75% chance we win this contest. Chicago almost exclusively uses takeaway margin to keep it at 24 points per allowed. Their D is truly a 26 points per allowed unit. Which is why you see a -6.5 odds GB is 18.6 points per allowed

The other aspect is this. While Jordan Love is still hands down the better overall QB, Caleb is backyard football scrappy. Now he’s not a threat like Josh Allen or Lamar etc. Yet if left unattended he’ll silently punish you. He has 8 games with runs of 10+. He’s
61 for 306 yards 22-1st D and 3 TD’s. So even including his high Sack count he’s netting 5.6 per carry. That’s well above average for a QB those normally fall 2-4 yards area on average because they include QB TFL.

I’m becoming increasingly concerned he’s going to try to repeat that Eagles game and hurt us. He’s still raw and often he’ll run when he should throw when scrambling outside. It’s not smart long term but it’s effective. Put a spy on him would be my recommendation.
Watching the game yesterday, especially in the 2H, I would have sworn the Bears were way ahead in running yardage, and yet it was almost equal in the end. Jacobs is not flashy, but he gets his job done when it's needed the most. I think he had close to 90 yards yesterday, and that is amazing.

Even so I would like EW to get more snaps, As you note, he's explosive and strong, and gives Jacobs a breather.

Hey CW, your Bears played well against the Packers. Swift and 7th-round pick Monangai are a deadly running back duo. They wore down the Eagles D last week, and did the same to the Packers in the 2H yesterday. I was truly surprised that the running yardage was about the same for each team.

The Bears are certainly legit, something I haven't been able to say since their appearance in the SB in 2008 I think, against the Colts????? (And then there's the '85 team, but they were from another planet. Best defensive performance I've ever seen in the SB, and that includes the Hags during their SB years. How else could a guy like McMahon get a ring? Make that two rings......)

I like Williams a lot. He's smart and fast and has a strong arm. He's still be playing a little too fast for his own good, and leaves the pocket too early on occasion, but I believe the Bears have finally found a keeper at QB.

Agreed. Wilson is certainly an above-average back, and a great complement to Jacobs. But I haven't seen the talent to be a #1 RB. Maybe he leaves next year. That's not a huge concern IMO. Brooks is good, and it would be nice if our 2nd-round pick from two years ago could play.......

Good summary of where the team is at gopkrs. (And please, MLF, no "playing not to lose" - although in fairness, he's been aggressive for the whole 60 minutes. MM is infamous for PNTL.)

I'm also happy Love is playing more under center. That's the only way RPO works. I still don't understand why teams run from shotgun. I guess it comes down to play design. Just seems to work better from under center.

Nice view Poppa. Where do you live? Is it technically Green Bay or a nearby city?

Anyway, great pic. Lived in CA for 20 years and you couldn't buy a home with a view like this.

Ben Johnson vs. Lafluer. Hmmmmmm
MLF barely acknowledged Johnson after the game. Good for him. At his opening presser, Johnson talked about how enjoyable it was to beat MLF twice a year. First thought wrong.

Johnson is a very good HC. His comment though was a huge, unforced error that will stay on GB's bulletin board for as long as he's in Chicago. Just really a dumb thing to say. Rookie HC mistake I guess. Anyway, thanks for the long-term BB material Coach Ben, you dumba*ss.

You were pretty much spot-on Amish. I had the Packers winning 27-20. I'm with you though, I did not think the game would be as close as it was. The Bears running game finally showed up in the 2H, and it was damn near enough for a win.

The Bears appear to be a team that would match up well against Denver. Caleb would drive them nuts on their pass rush. And they have the guys on D that could run down Nix.

What Johnson said might just be what Lafleur needed. He looked different and coached somewhat different but would've liked to see more aggressiveness starting the 2nd half.
Now they know what's needed.
Go Pack. Let's do this.

Yeah @AmishMafia really summed up the generalities nicely. Good job Amish

It will be interesting to see how much the Packers D can slow down Nix and Co. They have a very good D in Denver, from what little I've read. Should be a good game. Packers 24, Broncos 14.
