What Johnson said might just be what Lafleur needed. He looked different and coached somewhat different but would've liked to see more aggressiveness starting the 2nd half.
Now they know what's needed.
Go Pack. Let's do this.
Yeah agreed. The game was closer yesterday than it needed to be. A nice, long scoring drive would have set the Packers up well to start the 2H. That didn't happen, and the Bears used their RBs on two drives, one about 8 minutes, to wear out the Packers' D.

In the end, the Packers put up about the same amount of running yardage. The difference was Love. He was more disciplined than Williams. The rematch will be fun.

Yeah that "barely a handshake" after the game said it all. Johnson talked too much, and MLF and the Packers delivered. But Johnson's comments will be BB material for the Packers every season, every game. Not very smart of Johnson.

But the Bears are for real. Williams is good and has a lot of room to improve, and he probably will. And Swift and Monangai are a potent combo at RB. The Bears are no longer an easy out.

I'm really curious about this week too. Denver have a great defense but I believe they are the heaviest or one of the heaviest in the league in terms of both man coverage and blitzing. And it just so happens....Jordan Love is just about the best passer in the league against the blitz and man.

Love has really improved when it comes to delivering good throws with a defender in his face. That's confidence, and courage.

I could have sworn that coming into the Bears game, I saw a stat that Love was not good against the blitz this season. Obviously, yesterday he did really well.

I tried looking online but struggled to find a list of QBs' completion % against the blitz. Do you have any stats? I can't find them.

From SumerSports and PFF....I would have to go back and double check, I don't think these numbers include yesterday's game yet...

For the season:
62% completion
1,028 yards
13 TD
1 INT
0 sacks taken

Against the blitz yesterday:
9/12, 171 yards, 3 TD 0 INT, 156.3 passer rating, 99.7(!) PFF grade
Next Gen Stats had it slightly different at 8/11, 126 yards, 2 TD (PFF considered the TD to Melton to count as a blitz play)

In the Lions game against the blitz:
7/14, 70 yards, 2TD, 104.2 rating

Not explicitly "blitz", but Love is currently #4 in passer rating under pressure (behind Stafford, Maye, Goff)

Finally, EPA per play, situational:

Against man coverage - 1st
When blitzed - 3rd

Good news because the Broncos D plays man/press coverage. Doubs, Reed, and Watson are very good route runners. They get separation quickly and so all could have big YAC days.

It will be interesting to see how much the Packers D can slow down Nix and Co. They have a very good D in Denver, from what little I've read. Should be a good game. Packers 24, Broncos 14.
From what I have seen the Broncos lead the league in sacks. They get off the ball quickly and blitz plenty. Nix is similar to Caleb but does not have as big an arm and sometimes tries very risky throws. Broncos are very good on special teams with a good punt returner. Whelan has to be careful not to over kick coverage.

Go Pack. Let's do this.
We started with a play fake, no one open, and Love had to throw it away. Jacobs got stuffed. 3rd and 10 and we wind up punting after another incompletion. Bears got the ball with less than a minute off the clock in the 3rd quarter. And the possession after our 3rd TD, which only took a few plays, we had another 3 and out. This is what let the Bears back into the game. Cannot go down and score each possession but we needed at least to move the chains, give our D a rest, and try to pin them deep. Easier said than done against a good D.

Thanks for the intel on Denver milani. Against Chicago, when blitzed, Love completed 8 of 11 passes for 126 yards and 2 TDs.

The OL seems to be doing a better job of protecting Love. And Love is simply getting better. I thought he was playing well when blitzed, and then found this stat on his performance. Very impressive.

MLF should have a game plan ready for a blitz-happy team. I'm not a fan of screen passes, but certainly 5-7 yard slants to Reed, Doubs and Watson are an answer. And Watson and Reed are threats to get significant YAC. The slant-turned-TD by Love/Watson against the Bears reminded me of Rodgers/Nelson. Jordy was fast and could turn 5 yard-recptions into long TDs.

Dogs can roam, cats are semi feral (they killed and ate three rabbits after first snow.)
I've never owned a dog and you cited the reason - space to roam. We lived in Northern CA for 18 years and even the single-family homes are built on postage-stamp sized parcels of land. That's just not a place for a dog.

And I grew up on the East Side of Milwaukee. There wasn't even room to park a car, much less let a dog run free. We didn't have a dog when I was growing up. It would have been fun to have a dog, but not in circumstances where they can't get out and run.

A number of Packer pundits compared that Watson TD slant to the Nelson TD against Revis years ago.

Watching the game yesterday, especially in the 2H, I would have sworn the Bears were way ahead in running yardage, and yet it was almost equal in the end.
That was almost all in the 2nd half. They had fewer than 40 yards in the first half, and Johnson made some excellent halftime adjustments and their running backs dominated the entire 2nd half.

Yep and I expect we will see more of these plays. Watson accelerated to 21 plus MPH on that TD, and he didn't even look like he was working hard. And all immediately after an ACL recovery.

The best part is that Watson is becoming a much better route runner.
