So everyone who doesn't listen to a police officer gets shot? Unreal. 'Merica!
I don’t think you realize how important the concept of following police instructions are. Just watching a few re-runs of PD Live it will become very apparent to anyone that real trouble starts by refusing to obey officer instructions. This is by no means a new concept. This is exactly what happened to Rodney King 30 years ago and many others of all colors before him. It’s an age old story that some in our society refuse to accept that police have authority in public.

That sounds like an excuse to propagate falsehoods. Professors often welcome challenges to beliefs that are not their own. Discourse to the contrary is often encouraged during class as a means to help educate. To shy away from a challenge to ones belief system is lazy. One's political beliefs should not matter for student enrolment in the majority of cases as long as they encourage open dialogue, so your attempt to demonize professors as "leftists" is ridiculous.

As with any other topic, given the large number of schools and teachers, I'm sure there are plenty of instances where this is true. However, from what I've seen, read, heard about, and experienced, I'd be ready to wager that there are many more scenarios in which the opposite is true. The people standing in front of the class often have their ego and/or reputation tied to their presentation and don't want to take a chance on having someone point out a flaw.

By the way, although I find this type of discussion much more interesting than most of that actually about football/sports, the title of this thread and the last couple of pages don't match.

I think we are missing the forest through the trees. The problem is not about one or even several incidents. A general statement that really struck me years ago is that "there are more and stronger differences within a group than there are between groups." You can just substitute race for group. The large problem imho is in the hearts, minds, actions and attitudes of everyday people. Shaking hands one minute and telling a Black joke the next is destructive imo. It's difficult not to have a set attitude about something when your parents had that attitude. And just look sometime at what it was like in the 50's. There is plenty of film. It's better by law now but a lot of the basic attitudes persist.

Early indications are the NFL is going to be almost as woke as the NBA. Mark Murphy has already gone on record as being completely in favor. It's all but confirmed players will be allowed to wear the names of social justice victims on the backs of their helmets. This sort of thing will likely only increase. Not good news for anyone who was hoping to see their football served without a side of politics.

I mean, it really depends on the owners. E.g., I can darn well guarantee the Cowboys ain't doing a thing; Jerry Jones is the first guy to talk to the media about ANYTHING... Until now anyway.

It bothers me that I can't get a good read on the player's name in basketball.

Calling me ignorant is not adding anything to the conversation. Bringing up what is taught in universities is part of the problem, because leftist professors are pushing their pro-socialist, anti-American (America is evil and racist) agenda, and are indoctrinating their students to believe the same.

You saw the results of this indoctrination out on the streets when these young white Marxists were tearing down statues and defacing monuments in the early days of the protests. One of the aims of Communist revolution is to destroy history, and they would dearly like to remove American history.

That book White Fragility is a perfect example of the kind of self loathing certain white people want to promote, the kind of white people that want to kneel on the ground or make videos apologizing for their white privilege.

If our system is so racist, exactly what is it you want to change about it? Do you want to defund police? Abolish the justice system? Tear up the Constitution and start over? Why is that people of color can come here from other countries and succeed, why do they actually want to come here to succeed if our country is so horrible and racist?

The biggest unifier of the Republican party is their white identity politics. It's why a majority of them feel they experience more racism than the people who were enslaved, then segregated, then mass incarcerated.

Also when did educating yourself at universities become so partisan? It used to be that if you didn't know what you're talking about you just accepted you were ignorant about something and move on. Now every Joe schmoe can find some blog, facebook post, 4chan thread validating whatever crazy thought pops in their head.

A world of "experts" ******** on people for seeking higher learning.

I think the issue with the internet is anonymity. Not just with identity but also our credentials. It's galvanized the ignorant. When someone is arguing with a person who has a post-graduate degree in sociology or political science for example you won't know unless they identify themselves. Part of that I suppose is intentional, as anonymity can be cathartic. But it's a double edged sword. But because there are so many people using the Internet you'll find someone who shares your beliefs regardless of how insane they are. When they're not held in check that can be dangerous.

*Altar. But you'd know that if you respected academia.

Well, if you knew I was using my phone on that post and that voice recognition doesn't always consider context, maybe you wouldn't be such a condescending elitist... but I doubt it.

WOW. So in your mind, it is ok to brandish an AR-15 (illegally) then move across state lines and shoot protestors?

Wrong. A 16-year old can carry a long gun in Wisconsin. That rifle had at least an 18" barrel and probably 20". It also never crossed state lines, but don't let facts and the law confuse you.

Self-defence doesn't add up when it's predicated on illegal activity.

It isn't allowed if the person claiming self-defense STARTED the immediate altercation. And he didn't. He was being chased by a ********* and someone behind him fired the first shot. And when he fell in the street are you actually contending that the law required him to just lie there let the mob beat him and shoot him without defending himself? Absolutely not!

By your logic if you slapped punched someone and walked away and then they caught up with you a block away you would not be allowed to defend yourself if they used a weapon against you. That's BS. The law clearly shows that if you withdraw from an altercation and make clear your intention of not continuing to fight, then you re-establish your right to self-defense. The convicted felon that was chasing him with a pistol asked him where he was going. He said, "I'm going to the police." At that point, he decided he wasn't going to allow that to happen. If he hadn't pulled a pistol on him, he'd still have a right biceps.

He is going to have the book thrown at him regardless of all the money the Christian fundraiser has made to support his cause. Being charged as an adult for two counts of first-degree homicide and one count of attempted homicide = he won't see the light of day until he's geriatric, if ever.

Care to put money on that? Right here and now? If he's convicted of first degree murder I'll donate $1000 to whatever radical left-wing organization you desire. If he's not, you donate $1000 to the NRA. You game?

Protestors were screaming at the cops that Kyle had shot people, so it's not like they couldn't have realized his involvement. Rifle shots are LOUD, letting a rifle carrying person walk past them after they had just heard multiple shots is unbelievable. You'll never convince me that a black man carrying a rifle after MULTIPLE LOUD SHOTS were heard would be allowed to walk past a team of police. Kyle then had the opportunity to turn himself in after the shootings and didn't - he fled the scene. He didn't turn himself in, he was able to sleep in his bed and he was arrested at his home. Before you're upping your tone at least know your facts, that way you won't sound stupid.

Your opinions aren't facts, no matter how highly you think of yourself. BTW, he did turn himself in, so don't preach to me about facts. Stop the lies.

Hey Crow, this is an old argument that I already claimed victory on. So we've moved on and I would suggest you do too.

When did education become a bad thing? Seriously, learning is kind of how civilization, as a whole, continues to improve, right?
Nothing wrong with education. But too many universities these days engage in active indoctrination. That's different.

I knew you'd be too chickenshit to put your money where your mouth is. Claim all you want. You're wrong and you know it.

Some people take a loss in stride... Then there's Crow. Also, your offer didn't have enough zeroes to make my life interesting. Later!

Irrelevant...the problem is no police officer is worried that if he or she kills anyone. They won't go home to sleep in their own bed that night. They are not afraid of the consequences of unjustly killing a civilian, in other words a customer. Because it has been proven over and over again they won't face any consequences. How many jobs can you kill a customer because you thought you were scared for your life? Only to have it turn out that gun you thought you saw was a wallet or a cellphone or nothing at all. If you were a clerk at 7/11 and you shoot a guy because you thought they had a gun and you are sure they were gonna rob you, do you go to jail or do you go sleep in your own bed while your victim lies cold in the morgue...And "anyone" includes you, whether you follow "instructions" or not. Some including you seem to miss the fact that police salaries are paid with our tax money, they work for us. Probably shouldn't be killing the people you work for and all of us definitely should not be ok with them killing any of us no matter who it is because no matter who it is the fact is, it could be any of us for any reason and the thing that remains the same is the killer is going home to his family and youre not

Dude just so you know in WI, a person under 18 is only allowed to open carry a long gun if they are on their way to go hunting. Now you tell me what gun hunting season it was on that day?
