Schwartz is a great choice. He must have been born with that smug look. Makes ya just wanna go up and slap him. Is he still DC for the Browns? I'm guessing yes as their D has been a bright spot.
Harbaugh agrees!

Getting your starting QB injured again in a meaningless game would be sheer stupidity.
Yeah these are all big boys and they should be able to shake off a 4-game skid into the playoffs. It gives them a chance to rest some of the injured guys.

There is no need to win this game. It is an opportunity to showcase some guys who seldom play.

Not playing guys really isn't 'protecting' them very much when you're the Packers. Look what happened to Bahktiari? He had career ending injury in pads off practice. Like I said, losing a few more guys isn't going to make a difference if you basically lay down for a division rival.

If the Packers were going into the playoffs playing good football, that would alter the strategy but they are floundering and need to right a sinking ship fast.

I'll be watching. Hope there are interesting things to see. In good ways. Most likely see Hopper and maybe that Colin guy. I ihink if we see O linemen getting run over more than twice; just pull em and probably forget about em. Morgan at L tackle? Be a good test. Give someone a chance at returning punts? No matter what, just don't try and stick to the run game imho. Play linebackers more aggressively against the run? Just give up?

It may have been sunlight on the brook, but it is now midnight on the ocean. Time to jump ship.

Because we are not playing well and we are really beat up I'm not expecting much today or next week. It is all a shame, really.

I'm at work all day and will be missing the game. Whenever someone makes the main game thread I'll stick it.

If this game was meaningful I probably could have taken a personal day but alas..

I've been with this attitude, as he said when he created this thread, our seeding is locked and this game is meaningless. Our 3rd stringer is starting today so that should tell you you all need to know.

My teams would play hard and show some pride.

That's not what we saw today. If you're fine with the football that the Packers have shown the past few weeks, that's fine, but like I've said before, I take my standard of success from Lombardi.

I think you play to win. Period. That might make me old school. If a team is afraid to play the game because they fear injuries, then I doubt such a timid mindset can be fixed in time to go on a playoff run.

The last 4 weeks have been a s*** show but some people are fine with it no matter how putrid the football. I would like to see a team show some pride. Maybe that's more exposure to injuries but half efforts bother me.

It also sets the tone for the playoff game. And not in a good way.

LOL. They'd quit on you because you would do nothing but berate them, win or lose!

I think when you have a playoff game coming, likely against your biggest rival, you enter that game as healthy as possible and not risk injury to your most important players in a game that means absolutely ZERO.

You have to admit. Next week's game means a little more than this one

For sure it does, but you have to take all games seriously. That's an old school mentality. I realize that but in my opinion, there's only one way to play the game.

A couple of players today played with that type of attitude. I hold them in higher esteem because of it.

I guess that's where we differ. No game means zero. You play to win. While next week's game is more meaningful, I think you should play hard for 60 minutes in any game. If the magnitude of the game causes somebody to loaf or play with a half effort, I don't want that guy on my team.

That's why I think Cox and Oliver stood out today. They looked like they were playing at 100% I want them on my team!

There's also the concept of roster management, which is incredibly important the more of your top starters you have injured, and we have a lot of them. We already know Love isn't quite as durable as Rodgers and certainly not Favre. You don't risk injury to him when you're in the playoffs next week. Would you really prefer to beat the Vikings in a final regular season game where you have nothing to gain at the risk of possibly having to put Clayton Tune on the field to get demolished by the GD Bears in the playoffs? We can't afford an injury to one more starter.

And Sorrell.

Believe me Z, that game was NOT worth taking a day off. It wasn't worth watching even if it was an off day for you.

All that was cleared up is that Tune is NOT a backup QB in the NFL. Granted it's one game, but he showed almost nothing. 34 yards passing total, something like that. Hand on to Ridder for now.

The JS ran an article today pondering how the Packers would get ready for the Bears, riding a 4 game losing streak (ok, three if you don't count yesterday against the queens). It's a fair question. Most players wanted nothing to do with the stats of how similar teams did.

Jayden Reed said it best:

“What we’re here to do is make history.”

Gotta love that attitude!

He obviously is not one now. But in light of playing against the Vikings starters and with pretty much a preseason group around him he did what he could. And I can imagine what it was like trying to prep in a week not knowing much of the play book with other players who know little if the play book.
