For those saying the Vikings won't be in contention for the division title this year. You were saying that last year, too.

the Vikings are definitely in Contention.
ok, He isnt Kaepernick but he's still good enough for a deep playoff run and can still fall down before trade deadline and Kaepernick goes there.
I still say Vikings are SB contenders.

remember a guy named Rex Grossman?

The Bears getting Super Bowl with Rex Grossman was an extreme rarity. The Bears defense then was also better than the Vikings is now and they had Hester.

I like the Vikings defense but boy it is being overrated by some here. Their run defense was 21st in ypa last year. A full ypc worse than Denver. They were 16th in ypa in pass defense. Again a full yard per pass worse than Denver. They are an up and coming defense but they are not even in the same ballpark. They were a very good points against defense but there were some stats that suggest that might be a little misleading. Statiscally the vikings were closer to the Packers than an elite defense

you are in for a shock during the season.
Extreme rarity my booty.
Dilfer,Kaepernick,...Doug Williams barely started 3 games the year he was in the SB.He filled for Shroeder, who sucked.
who the hell was Rypien?
Denver came limping in last year,or so you were lead to believe. Russell Wilson wasnt scaring anyone with his numbers the year they won either.
Ben R. in his second year played 12 games and threw for 2385 yards, just to hand off to the 'Bus'

either way,its happening.....

Great call acting like you know for a fact that the Vikings will acquire Kaepernick.

Bradford is a far better quarterback than Kaepernick but doesn't make an overrated team like the Vikings a Super Bowl contender.

With GB having the easiest schedule in the NFL, and this team is so deep at every position along with the Vikings QB situation, there is a very good chance they could run the board, 16-0.

Since they, really playino NFC East, and AC South, and playing #2 line'so from the NFC last year (Seattle at home), the planets truly have aligned.

On a side note, OMG on Vikings trading for Sam Bradford for 2017 #1 draft choice, and #4 minimal conditional (meaning it could go higher, not lower); they've sold their sole to the devil to win this year!

They will regret that move, and next year, what the heck are they going to do with 2 QBs?

Sometimes owners just lose it!

First of all Kap, Wilson, and Roth were all good good at the time of winning it, much better than Bradford is now.

That gives you Dilfer, Williams, and Manning. Both Dilfer and Manning were on teams with histortically great defenses, by the way. Much better than the Vikings defense.

That gives you 4 QBs you brought up the 80s. Maybe it's not extremely rare, but it's still very though win it all without a very good QB.

Just stop the circular argument crap. Whether you think they were good is beside the point. They had minimal stats and we're inexperienced so it's still against common sense and convention.
And I forgot to mention Rex Grossman.
It's not rare- period.

The better argument is if the vikings defense is in the same stratosphere as the defenses that won with Bradford level qbs. Any statistically the answer is no. They are closer to the Packers defense than those defenses

You're relying on last year. It's not last year anymore. And they were quite good last year with an 11-5 record.
The Packers failed at causing them to be 10-6.

You are relying on last year too. In fact we all are since no one has played this year. The point is the vikings defense was near the level of teams that won the super bowl with a Bradford type qb. They will likely improve some but they didn't add much of note so it is all about improving and staying healthy. But it would have to be a lot of improvement to get to the level of d that won with a Bradford tyoe

Certainly not common either. And either way, the Vikings still do not have the defense many of those other teams did.

Not only that, but the Panthers' loss last night gives the Pack a half game advantage going into Sunday over them and a chance to drag them up to Lambeau come January. Unfortunately, they won't get that against Arizona as the Cards are gonna murder the Pats without Brady or Gronk out there.

Well, so far a good start on the 13-3 aspiration, and ... it's tough to say who our biggest runner up threat is in this division.

I may have badly underrated Detroit. Even if the Colts have a bad defense, that Lions offense actually looked better without him and should not be overlooked.

The Vikings .... well they won, but the Titans are not the Jags and ... well over the last few years have only been surpassed by Cleveland as far as bad goes. I'll wait till after next week to reserve judgment on them, but not terribly worried about them.

Chicago is still the big unknown. They lost but the Texans have a good defense and are going to be contending for the AFC South.

It's gonna be one hell of a race for the North. Good news is Carolina is 0-1, Seattle was awful today in the win and is going to be killed by good teams this year, and Arizona is losing to the no-Brady or Gronk pats. I can easily see the NFC Championship game coming to Lambeau this year, just hope the Giants hit the deck before then.

I don't expect the Lions to compete for the division crown. The Packers will win the North by several games.
