I was just looking up the Summer transfers so far; It looks like Red Bull is active, and a couple others, but there doesn't seem to be much going on. How about Hamburg, Mainz, and Koeln? You guys got any info?
No signings in Hamburg so far.
Board of directors does not release any budget to "go shopping" before other players are sold or released.

Not a lot of bundesliga action, though I did post some of the ones I did see in the thread earlier.

Looks like Tolisso is in for Bayern, and Costa (as expected) is out

The Tolisso signing has me intrigued. That means someone is definitely leaving Bayern for another club. Could it be yours?

I still think Renato Sanches either gets loaned or moves on. He barely got any minutes from Carlo last year, and Carlo just doesn't seem to be interested in him. Like I said before, I don't think Sanches fits Carlo's scheme as well as some of the other players.

Diego Benaglio leaves Wolfsburg for AS Monaco, but has already agreed to return in a different role when his playing career is over.

They also signed Olympic Brazil standout William. Kid has some potential.

Herta sign former Man City and PSV defender Karim Rekik. I'm assuming this is a replacement for John Anthony Brooks.

When Bayern last won the treble under Jupp Heynckes, his philosophy involved a team that new each other so well they could predict where their team mate would be for a pass, set piece or shot. I wonder if that is even possible with today's player mobility between teams. It doesn't seem like teams keep a player long enough for him to develop the necessary chemistry with team mates. Am I off the wall?

Ok seriously though, here is what is different:

Colors are darker.
The M and C's have been altered.
The bavarian lozenges have finally been fixed.

I suppose that is a radical change for Bavarians... :roflmao:

I'm completely shocked that John Brooks left Hertha. That's his hometown club that he always wanted to play for. 20 million for the transfer tho. Biggest for an American player in Europe I think.

^ Plus. Hertha has Europa League this year and Wolfsburg almost got relegated. Something else must be going on behind the scenes we don't know about. Otherwise, it's just a strange move.

In other Hamburg news, Rene Adler has left for Mainz. Your take Nessie?
Well, we needed to cut costs and only offered a contract with a reduced salary that he rejected.
I think he was pretty sure that there is a far better market for him out there but that he now ends up with Mainz shows that in fact there wasn't one for him. For whatever reason.
I'm fine going into the season with Mathenia and there are still talks to sign Pollersbeck from Kaiserslautern.
But there are more important positions to address than a goalie imho.

Hamburg lock up Bobby wood for a few more years
Thats good news, most importantly we could change the release clause to a much higher amount than before.
However, I still think paying 3 mio Euros per year for a player like Wood is crazy. I really like him, but he just has had his first season in the 1. Bundesliga, scored 5 times. This doesnt sound like he is going to be the next Robert Lewandowski ;)
But thats the way it is nowadays, a completely overheated market, especially for strikers.

Striker Jhon Cordoba leaves Mainz to join Koln on a four year deal.

Hamburg make permanent their loan of Papadopoulos, and sign Bjarne Thoelke from Karlsruher. They also replaced Rene Adler with Julian Pollersbeck, who is the very well regarded keeper of the Germany U21 team.

Marcel Heller leaves relegated Darmstadt to join "still in the bundesliga (for now)" Augsburg.

That "Papa" stays in Hamburg is the best news of the week. Hope he stays healthy.

Ginter wins the confed cup, immediately gets sent to Monchengladbach. Puzzling move by BVB, their back line was already suspect.
