I think the holdup is years not annual average. Kinda like guaranteed for a player vs annual. I’m pretty sure neither Brian or Matt want a 2yr extension.

I’d rather make $12mil annual on a 5yr extension deal than $15mil annual on a 2yr extension.

The whole idea of " Trading " MLF is like George Steinbrenner trading George Costanza.

If the two sides cannot agree on number and what needs changed likely staff wise - GB trading MLF one hundred percent happens. He is one of their most valuable possessions on the market - Parsons, Love and then either Tom (likely not with injury) or MLF.

Its probably best to keep the current regime.

They should remain as a tandem or leave as one.

Disappointing ending, and I was all for firing.

But realizing that this team was ahead of expectations to even make a move for Parsons is important.

I think if Parsons never got injured, Packers would have secured home-field advantage as division winner and top 4 seed.

I do, however suggest that MLF and Gute restructure their entire team, both players and coaching staff.

A 2-year extension for both is fair.

To bring in another regime without the full arsenal of draft picks is unfair.

Allow MLF to assume the CEO role as HC and evaluate him from there, he'll fail or thrive.

Rich B. should get the boot as Special Teams Coordinator. The kicking game is lacking since Crosby. The return game is inconsistent.

Hafley should remain for another season, and identifying the next defensive coordinator and getting him on the staff is vital.

Just as vital is MLF, bringing in a young offensive mind and relinquishing play calling duties during the games. His offensive scheme loses steam as the game progresses.

Great at the script, average at best closing out games with a lead, or coming from behind.

Identify a young OC and fall back.

MLF should focus on all aspects of the team.

Yup and unless MLF wants to sit the year out, he is under contract with the Packers.

Given how long this process seems to be taking, it really won't shock me to hear that the Packers have traded MLF to the Dolphins for the #11 pick in the draft.

Too rich IMO. If we got that pick folks better be prepared to not have our second rounder I bet.

Now pausing a moment and saying let’s say we do that. That 11th rounder traded back to like the 20s could net us another day two and still have a day 1…wouldn’t be a terrible move.

I place MLF value in a trade to be two day 2s of some kind.

I heard the Dolphins are giving Hadley a second interview.

Keeping Lafleur is probably the right thing to do for next year, but this piece sums up my feelings on him pretty well.

Especially this:

"LaFleur is a great play designer, which is why the Packers often build big leads, but as Mike Tyson once said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” When the Packers inevitably get punched in the face, all they do is turtle."

I didn't do a long search on this, but does anyone know how many 4th quarter "come back" victories the Packers have had under Lefluer? It would be interesting to know how many they have had, as well as how many games have they lost due to the other team making a comeback.

This is just a hunch, but my guess would be that the Packers have lost more "comeback games" than they have won. Given that the Packers have more wins than losses under MLF, that should also be factored into things.

I heard the same. It really sounds like after the Dolphins hired former Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as their new GM, he has been very interested and busy, in trying to get some of the Packer staff to follow him down to Miami. Makes sense though, he has a ton of information on these guys/gals and has worked closely with them.

I can't see any team giving up a high 1st rounder for MLF.

I could see the Browns giving up a first round pick for just about anything. Hell, they gave up 3 for Watson. Then they gave him a $230M FULLY GUARANTEED contract to boot. Has to be one of the worst trades in the history of the NFL. :roflmao:

Seriously Packer fans, if you are down about the Packers losing a playoff game, check out what they are doing in Cleveland! Oh yes, I know....we lost to those damn Browns!

Watson has 1 year left on that deal and he hasn't taken a snap since Week 7 in 2024.

The Browns cap with Watson:

Cap hit in 2026: $80.716M Dead Cap: $131.163M

Follow that game without knowing, and it looked like they DID have HFA, at least until the inevitable realization that there's a 4th quarter. And, let's go into their record in real HFZ playoff games since 2019

Welp… let’s hope this is the right move. I’m curious to see if there’s any stipulations, such as making it to a NFC championship, etc.

I also wonder how long it is. Gute got extended too.

If he stays, I do think we will likely get more of the same. The only thing that makes me think otherwise is because maybe Parsons comes back mid to late season and gives a big boost to the team for a late run - right when MLF's teams usually give up for the season and start phoning it in.

The problem with replacing MLF is I don't know who could come in and be our "Ben Johnson".
Rough schedule next season. Pats, Bills. Bears, Lions twice. Vikings twice. Carolina, Tampa. Boys and the Rams.

Ugh, I wish I could say I was happy about this. Hopefully I am wrong about what this means for the Packers future, I'm guessing it means more mediocrity. I almost think they should throw out his seasons with Rodgers as QB, because right now I'm thinking maybe Rodgers was propping him up. In any case, his future is going to be with Love, so might as well just look at his Love years.

And bringing in a new regime would mean a new offense with time needed for adjustments. And it is not like some of this roster will be here in 3 years on either side of the ball.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but wasn't this Ben Johnson's first year? Or did I dream that?
