Here's something interesting to think about. The last Packers team to make the Playoffs that was not Quarterbacked by Favre was the 1982 Bart Starr coached, Lynn ****ey QB'd Packers team. That team went 5-3-1 in a strike shortened season. The Packers as you all know have clinched a Playoff spot today. I just thought it was an interesting stat.

Green Bay deserves it as much as any team that's clinched and they're gonna be tough to beat.

I was going to say Lynn ****ey.

Congrats to GB. Switching to a new defense and and making the playoffs in the 2nd year of our QB. AWESOME JOB!

Had some rocky parts in the season (Tampa Bay). But this team seems to really be focused on winning and improving. Fun to watch that.

I feel this team is destined for great things

Pack88

Sure did. Packers won 41-16 with ****ey throwing for 4 TD's and 260 Yards.
OK I'm confused.

So the last Pack team in the playoffs without Farve was 1982 or 1988?

And what year did Farv take them to the first P.Offs since then?

1982...Who said anything about 88? lol. I think you got confused with Pack88, thats just his username.

Brent took the Packers to the Playoffs for the first time in his tenure in 1993.

Favre started playing for the Packers as starter in 1992 ... And the Packers went to the Play Offs in 1993, first time for Favre and won the first game against the Lions in Detroit, - then one week later they went to Dallas and lost ...

The last time the Packers went to the Play Offs before Favre was back in 1982 ... - 11 years without play off games ...

Packers Play Off years:

1993 (1-1 Lost to Dallas in the 2nd round in Dallas)
1994 (1-1 Lost to Dallas in the 2nd round in Dallas)
1995 (2-1 Lost to Dallas in the NFCCG in Dallas)
1996 (3-0 Won the Super Bowl against NE)
1997 (2-1 Lost the Super Bowl against Denver)
1998 (0-1 Lost to SF in San Fransisco in the Wild Card round)
1999 - 2001 No play off berth
2002 (1-1 Lost to the Rams in St. Louis - 6 Ints in that game)
2003 (0-1 Lost home to Atlanta in the Wild Card round)
2004 (1-1 Lost to the Eagles in Philidelphia - 4th and 26)
2005 (0-1 Lost to the Vikings at home in the Wild Card round)
2006 - 2007 No play off berth
2008 (1-1) Lost the NFCCG at home against the Giants)

Hmmmm ... Out of 16 seasons played in Green Bay the Packers went to the play offs 11 times ...

Maybe the real reason why so many people (fans) dislike Favre so much, is because those fans have been too accustomed with winning and getting into the play offs while he was playing for the Packers? ...

2007 would be the playoff berth, that's the year Green Bay went 13-3, and 2008 would be no playoff berth for that's the year GB finished 6-10. The 2001 Packers went 12-4 so they should be listed as a Playoff team as well. The 2005 Packers should be listed as no playoff berth.

OR it could just be that he went to a rival team and waffled a lot during his last few years with the Packers. You really think there's a different reason or was this a very sarcastic post?

/cheers !

(Read: yes I was being sarcastic ...)

@ CM_Awesome - Yes, I made the mistake of just writing down the actual years (Play offs played in those years in January and February) when I wrote them down, thanks for correcting.

I'm sorry but that is too many, way too many play off games for a QB to take his team to and lose.
Why the heck would coaches keep the same QB around for so long if he isn't winning play off games for him?
All of a sudden Brent doesn't look as good as they make him out to be.

Was in the corner after the Greta interview..Was sticking with him till I saw the lies he was putting out there

Let's compare it to Joe Montana's shall we?

Joe Montana Playoff Record as Starting QB: 1981 (3-0), 1983 (1-1), 1984 (3-0), 1985 (0-1), 1986 (0-1), 1987 (0-1), 1988 (3-0), 1989 (3-0), 1990 (1-1), 1993 (2-1), 1994 (0-1)

Now tell me. Based on only the above numbers, who is the better winning play off and Super Bowl QB?
Brett Favre?
Joe Montana?

2007 would be the playoff berth, that's the year Green Bay went 13-3, and 2008 would be no playoff berth for that's the year GB finished 6-10. The 2001 Packers went 12-4 so they should be listed as a Playoff team as well. The 2005 Packers should be listed as no playoff berth.

He listed the playoff berths according to the years during which the playoff games were played, not the season in which it was played. For example, we lost to the Giants in the NFC Championship game that was played in 2008, but corresponded to the 2007 regular season, the season in which we went 13-3. Confusing I know, but I think you get my point..

If that were the case, then why would he have put 1996 as the SB win when it was clearly in the 1997 Playoffs? For example...

That was the begining of his list. As you can clearly see, Those season results are all corresponding to the Season Year NOT the Playoff Year. He made an error when the list continued.

Anyways, me and Quintus already discussed this and he acknowledged his error, perhaps you should read the whole thread? :)
