The majority of what the Pack will get in trade is draft picks which won't be used until the 2022 draft anyway. And I don't think Rodgers will sit out for a year.

The Packers should not roll over. He will come back. He'll be butthurt over it but he has been for the last 5 years anyway.

That's a rather large assumption you've made. I would argue that draft picks plus, as an example, Surtain and Chubb would be SUPER helpful for a young, raw QB to not have to feel the need to score a ton of points. Stuff I own today is far more valuable than stuff I "might" own in a year.

Better the bird I n your hand than two in the bush?

Or never count your chickens until they're hatched?

but sometimes you have to let the bird go as it isn't happy

The Packers have no chance of winning a Super Bowl with Love or Bortles. None. By not trading Rodgers now you force him to choose between retirement or playing for the Packers. And if he calls their hand and sits out 2021 they can still cash in before the 2022 draft.

But Rodgers is not going to sit out the season.

He probably is still pissed about being booed at Lambeau when Favre returned with the lowly Vikings and won by the way.

Was Rodgers booed? I don't remember that. I thought it was Favre who was booed.

Rodgers has been fantastic in most cases but let's be honest. They got lucky as hell at least 3 times with Hail Mary passes. He has a losing record in playoff games. Isn't that the bottom line?

Well, one was a regular season game. Another was in a playoff game that they lost. Another was at halftime of a playoff game they won in a blowout.

Also a hail mary can just be considered a breakdown in coverage. Are we going to say that all his non-hail mary TD passes that were the result of a breakdown in coverage were lucky as hell? What about all the TDs he gets from false start penalties - those lucky as hell too?

And he has a winning playoff record.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to point out that Rodgers has a losing record in NFC Championship games. THE BIGGEST GAMES! I didn't mention false start penalties at all nor did I say anything about good old fashion passes, which by the way, he is one of the best. How can a Hail Mary possibly be called a breakdown of coverage? QB is throwing to a specific spot where 10 guys happen to be gathered. It's totally lucky as hell. I expect to be corrected by people that know more about situations than I do. I am a Packer fan. I care about this team. I care about their past, present and future. I don't like excuses. I expect players to play, coaches to coach and fans to be opinionated. Something wrong with that?

Look. Y’all know by now that I’m fairly blunt. If I want to call a person dumb, I will.
People view things differently. Your intentions may not have been to call him stupid. But the way you worded the sentence, others see it that way.

Then when I say that it’s not a personal attack, they should accept that.

People can always look to find ways to be offended if they want to. Some people just like the drama, I guess.

He's already hurting the team by not participating in OTAs, voluntary or not.

He's failed to lead by example. He's set a ghastly precedent and has delivered a kick in the nuts to all the other guys who want to win.

He can't be the only QB in the universe who can lead the Packers to victory.

So sick of the drama.

Cut him loose for a slew of draft picks.

Hi! Still waiting for all of the examples of the common tactics you talked about! Thanks!
Well you are going to be waiting a while. I can actually think of a couple without doing any research… but since my ignoring your posts last night wasn’t clear enough…. I am done discussing anything with you. All of your protestations yesterday about why it’s just fine for you to say whatever you want said enough for me. You can continue to post whatever you want… but I will most likely not see it… and if I happen to … I will be ignoring it.

Jordan Love is loving OTA's. Loved MLF's comment at the end, of course, what else is he going to say?

I'm not going to get overly optimistic about Love, but I am anxious to see him play in Preseason.

Yeah, I kinda figured you didn’t have anything either.

Don't really like Colin Cowherd but he had an interesting concept where the Packers would want to wait to trade AR to Denver until the middle of the season to ensure he doesn't have time to get used to playing there in the high altitude and with the team and the broncos would spend at least half of the season being bad with whoever their starter is at first and then some transitional games with AR, improving the draft pick positions they would receive for trading him.

Novel concept, but I think waiting until then will definitely reduce what you get in exchange for him, simply because there will be fewer teams halfway into the season wanting to bid on him. If Denver is 1-5 and thinking they are destined to be a top 10 pick in the draft, even with Rodgers, they use that in valuing the draft stock that they are willing to give up.

I almost prefer saying to a team that we trade with now, "Well Rodgers is no doubt going to make you a playoff team, so the picks that you are offering us aren't nearly as valuable as ones maybe the Jags or Jets would offer, so we need more." This way you are assuring yourself of fair value in the event Rodgers does what is expected, but really getting a bonus if that team you trade with has a bad season, increasing the value of all those draft picks.

Waiting until after the 2021 season would at least allow both teams to know what they are talking about in 2022 draft pick values being offered. Would also open the door for probably several other teams to get in on the action. So in my eyes, if he won't play for the Packers and he still isn't traded by August, unless there is a blockbuster offer, make him sit through the 2021 season and then trade him.

I think that was the biggest mistake that TT made with Favre. In TT's defense, the timing was bad, but seems like he panicked and Favre became a fire sale that only got the Packers a 3rd round pick. Don't make the same mistake with Rodgers.

That's a good point. Depends on the packers level of spite I guess. They can effectively waste a year of his career while still getting trade value from him by waiting until the other team is officially garbage.

An ego can keep you from getting pushed around, but sometimes that ego creates a situation that we are the only ones pushing and to your own detriment at that. As Kenny Rodgers once put it:

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run.

I thought I knew when to hold em, but the store security said apparently I didn`t as they escorted me from the shop.

I think waiting until 2022 is almost the best of both worlds. It sends the message to Rodgers and other players, that there is a cost to play that game with them. However, that expense is minimal for the Packers, since Rodgers wouldn't have played for them in 2021 anyway AND they now have more teams to bid on him and an actual idea of what the 2022 picks being offered are actually worth. They also get the benefit of saving on having to pay him, so big cap and cash savings.

Probably the only 2 risks you run, AR decides to put both middle fingers up and retires. I think that is a low risk. Second risk, he is a year older and some teams might not be willing to give up as much. Of course, his legs and maybe his mind will be a lot fresher.

I also prefer that scenario over a deal hatched out now whereas the Packers agree that if Rodgers plays in 2021, they will immediately trade him after the season. Take the salary and bonus savings now, don't risk injury and let him sit it out if he won't come back without the Packers having to first placate his demands.
