I’m not looking for something revolutionary. I suspect that we’ll see less inside zone and Duo, more outside zone. The outside zone is what the Shannanhan tree depends on for its bootlegs and other play action concepts. Rumor is we went away from it because Jacobs isn’t as big a fan of them.

As far as roster construction, your 7th WR isn’t going to do much, probably inactive most weeks, while your 4th TE might be on every special team and act as the part time FB.

Good point on a 7th WR. I just don't see it happening. Most likley Neyor will go back to the PS. I think Melton making the 53 is 50/50. I'd rather see snaps going to Williams who is still developing (well, hopefully). I think we've seen everything that Melton can do. He's a little better than JAG - he plays WR, CB and is on STs. Maybe that's enough reason to keep him. He's an athletic guy, and I don't think he has much of an injury history.

I remember Patriots under parcels would always get some disgruntled free agent stud. Get them cheap too usually, out of spite.

Then after that stud would play their one or two year deals. Pats would just let them go, and collect those 3rd and 4th round comps picks…. On guys they just picked up.

So I just looked and GB is speculated to get 3rd rounder for Malik Willis if he starts, and snap count. A 4th rounder for Doubs. Quay Walker A 5th rounder. And a 6th rounder for Enegbare.

So GB might not have a 1st, but they have 2x 3/4/5/6 rounds. So trading that 2nd rounder might not be too detrimental.

Thanks GBS. That's a good look forward at what the Packers may get in comp picks next year. Gluten has drafted well in rounds 4-7. And the picks can always be used to move up and grab someone.

JMHO, but something shocking would have to happen for Melton to not make this team. Put it simply, MLF is a HUGE fan.

I think Melton is likely, but I wouldn't say his getting cut would be shocking.

The top 3 are assured (Watson, Reed, Golden). Williams is all but a lock based on his size and heavy usage last year. Sky has a strong case due to our lack of return man. And just like that, we have 5 spots. Melton would be 6.

6 seems likely to me, but as the 6th (ish) man, Melton is at risk. If any of the rookies flash, it gets complicated.

I would argue personally that the only reason Melton made the team last year was his ST and deep reserve CB play potential - hence why until in the season did he stop practicing with the CBs.

I would even further say potentially that Melton doesn't have the cards in his hands controlling his future as much as many...Sturdivant, Neyor and even will sheppard has done good things in camp...BUT I think the bigger chip in the pile of this decision is that we no longer need him as a deep reserve CB at all....

I personally if forced to bet serious money on placing a % of expectation to make it on Melton I'm no higer than 60%.
