Where you been? That happened smartly when it looked possible neither Willis or Love could be available. Not a good QB, but experienced and looking for a home, you can do FAR worse for your QB4
"Not a good QB"

So you can you understand my sentiments?

The Packers have done far worse with their QB2's pre-Willis days.

As you correctly alluded to when Ridder was signed, I think this is more of a signing towards the 2026 season. With Willis gone, the Packers will need a capable backup and why not get Ridder into "camp" early and see what he has.
Yikes!!!

I'd rather keep Tune and add anyone else.

However, it's questionable if the coaching staff will remain the same for next season.

After watching Tune yesterday, I am just fine with the Packers continuing to shop for a new QB2 and QB3. I don't know what the plans are for Ridder, but Gute has some work ahead of him to replace Willis.

Packers release Tune add Ridder to active roster. Along with signing WR Julian Hicks, WR Kisean Johnson and TE Messiah Swinson to the practice squad.
I think it is academic at this point. 2026 will be defined as 2026 continues. Gute will not settle for a bad back up if he can find someone like Willis. The difference between TT and Gute. Even Favre's backups before TT came were pretty good and went elsewhere.

Of today’s starting QB’s. The only 2 current QB’s that are arguably better value than Jordan Love (3yr starter) that didn’t require a top 1-10 draft pick type collateral (most were Top 1 overall) are
Dak Prescott (10 yr starter)
Lamar Jackson (8yr starter)

Love is the only QB in this small but distinguished group still preparing to play this weekend and leading his team to the playoffs in 100% of his seasons as the starter.

I think I can trust Gute to find talent at QB

You know ... Willis comes in and gets hurt against the bears... He might want to consider embracing the back up role on a super bowl caliber team. Play a loooong career, and be appreciated for what he does now. Rather than risk taking on more and failing. He could be out of the league a lot sooner, if things don't go as he hopes.

That drop on his shoulder was dirty. Anyone would've been injured. But he might want to think about ignoring the talking heads, and stay where he is at. All things considered.

If the Packers get down to their 3rd string QB in the playoffs, unless he is in there to kneel on the ball, I am guessing it wouldn't matter if it was Ridder or Tune, game over.

I can give you about 20M+ reasons why Malik wants to be a starter. Follow the money.

Dirty? I found the play and still cannot find that even in the slightest? Maybe I'm watching the wrong play vs the Bears.

Yea, that's the bait on the hook isn't it. And ego, of course.

But say he does go to a team that's building, as a starter. Like many many Packers players have done... For the extra money...
I've noticed they tend to disappear quick... They learn that the raiders, jets, or a cut throat big city, isn't like the nurturing, building players environment we have in GB. Opposite actually. "You perform now, and it better be good.". One slip and they crucify you. Chitty QBs, new players all around you...I mean look at every WR who ever left our system. Only adams really survived outside GB. And he has Mathew Stafford.

I like to think Donald driver is the blueprint for a real GB Packer. Drafted 7th round. Earned that last spot a couple years... Worked his way up to #1 WR! Got paid a modest #1 wr contract, and when his next contract was due, he didn't go to a competitor.(Like Jennings did later) He accepted he is now #2 and future #3. And would be great in that role. Took the pay cut and played more years with a hall of fame QB. Making GB contenders every year. Got that last year contract for 1 mil too, which I don't think anyone else would've got offered in that position...

It was a symbiotic relationship. Win/win for both parties.

So with willis. What does he get if he stays? Well, I bet he could average $10 mil a year(?) for the next 10 years(12-15?), if he stays and embraces his current role(which gives the GB franchise important insurance)....He will have less miles on his body, for life after football. He can raise his kids in Greenbay Wisconsin, which is wholesome AF. Ideally he never plays, but when he does, it will be prime time. Stepping into the driver's seat of a race car. He won't be getting the hall of fame jacket most likely. But he will be hanging out with all the hall of famers. A local legend long after he quits playing football. Because packers fans are loyal. We're old school... That's a good life lived, being liked AND respected, by the GBP organization...

Or he could go to some lacking organization like the jets, get smeared into the grass. Hated for it, and dumped into free agency as soon as the coach is fired. Find himself #2 on some chitty franchise if he is lucky...

Who knows? Maybe Jordan love prices himself out of GB in 5 years. Willis might get the nod of he is in fact a true #1... Leave that up to the guys who watch them every day and do the books...

Personally, I didn't find the hit on Willis dirty at all. Now Jordan Morgan's attempted "block" of Montez Sweat, who put the lick on Malik, was downright pathetic and should go on every offensive line coaches reel for "This is how you get your QB killed."

The dirty hit by the Bears, was actually on Jordan Love by Austin Booker. Booker lead with his helmet and no Bear fan is ever going to convince me that he wasn't going for Jordans head and neck area.

As a Packer fan, I love your idea of Malik being the Packer backup QB for the remainder of his career, but it just won't happen. First, the Packers won't pay $10M for a backup QB, they have proven this fact over and over and over again.

More importantly, Malik will be offered a very hefty contract, with a lot of guaranteed money, by a QB starved team. That contract alone, will set him up for the rest of his life, after 1 season. Not that $10M from the Packers wouldn't either, but you know what I mean.

Even if he flames out as a starter, his bank account will be set for life and if he wants to, he will then have a lucrative career as a backup.

Malik's time is now and he would be crazy not to cash in on teams absolute desperation to pay a proven starting QB.

Jordan love was picked up and pile driven into the turf onto his , recently healed, left shoulder...the dlinemans whole body weight coming down on it. A miracle he kept playing.

Then the knock out hit...

Then did the same thing to Willis!!! Picked him up, pile drove him into the ground on his throwing shoulder. Again full body weight.

A miracle either one didn't break their shoulder. But both our QBs did injure both shoulders mentioned.

Dirty af. And I'm still pissed as hell. Trashy MFers need some karma.

Saturday 7pm... It's go time.

I felt the defender didn't let up on putting all his weight on top of Willis when taking him to the ground. Not sure if you could call it dirty, but we have seen where they have flagged that play numerous times in the past, when done vs QB's.

I understand the Love hit being viewed as dirty.

The Malik hit is NO WHERE close to how you described.

If we would have gotten our hands on Caleb I am certain we would not have said Pardon Me. Now the hit on Love was very unacceptable.

Exactly what I saw. The Bears Board was trying to justify it saying “Jordan Tucked and it was his fault for getting hurt. Which is ridiculous. Then “it was such a legal hit it’s actually how football should be coached”. Which when I read that I saw through all the lies and deceit.
In actuality the Bears Defender should’ve received at minimum an ejection warning. Plus imo a 1-2 game suspension and healthy $75,000 fine if it was his first attempt to disable a player. If he had priors, I’d throw another 1-2 games suspended and double his fines with a strict warning that 3X is season over.

I'm with you on the Love at least to the point of understanding.

My issue is there are guys here declaring the Willis hit dirty - there IS ZERO dirty about it. 11 out of 10 times if it was us sacking Caleb Williams not ONE person here would call it dirty. That's just lunacy. Still shots inserted below from the video of the game just this second (cannot get video to link right). @GreenBaySlacker where is this you described:

Then did the same thing to Willis!!! Picked him up, pile drove him into the ground on his throwing shoulder. Again full body weight.

You're either one of the softest fans of football or you're just letting your GB glasses which you see the play cause you to be unreasonable (which is fine, TONS of fans have the inability in such moments to be reasonable).
