I’m just advocating to get him more proactive, that all nothing more nothing less.

He could do that and be sent on fewer blitzes. TFLs tend to come from being free to read and react and being comfortable in the scheme. And then the offense has to call the right plays to give him a chance to get them.

Yiur good at numbers @mradtke66 you figure it out and tell Gannon for me.

Heh. Part of my day job. I always look closely at stats, particularly simple ones and make sure something isn’t fishy.

Perfectly illustrated point, I presume this is just a story and not real…

Management calls a meeting and announces, “we’ve noticed a disturbing trend with 40% of company sick time being used on Monday and Friday. Clearly people are abusing sick time to get a longer weekend. Therefore, all Monday and Friday sick time MUST have a doctors note.”

It all seems reasonable at first glance, I mean 40% is a lot… until you realize Monday and Friday combine for 40% of the work week. Having 40% of the week account for 40% of sick time is not only reasonable, but expected.

Not to mention isn't sick time actually paid at some point if you don't use it? If that's the case; why would it be different than taking a day off without having to give a bunch of notice?

Which is why I think it’s a story, not a literal event that happened. Of course not every job has paid sick time. My gig is unlimited sick time, can only be used for myself (no sick time to run the kid to the doctor), and a doctors note is required after 5 consecutive days.

40% sounded reasonable and I was more concerned with finding out who’s taking advantage and how can I do that. Good story of how we sometimes outsmart ourselves.

Cooper doesn’t always need to be a 5th Rusher. I’d be willing to bet Eric Wilson didn’t come as a 5th Rusher on a large proportion of his 180 Pass Rush attempts. That’s called disguising. Pass Rush is as much about disguising through stunts or rotating Personnel at the last millisecond. We’ve all seen this they line up 6 on the LOS and drop 2 last second.

Btw. Yiu still didn’t answer me. This was the initial crutch of your response to me saying Cooper needs to play a higher % closer to LOS than he did in 2025. Was MN wrong to send Wilson on 37.5% of Pass plays? Not saying Cooper should be used that much so please don’t go that pathway. I’m more just curious how you’d respond after you said an automatic 10.6% is ideal at his LB position. Did The Vikings glaringly misuse their ILB Eric Wilson in 2025? Because your math didn’t math at ILB.
When GB has dlinemen who consistently demand a double team. To me GB has two DTs who, when healthy, can beat their man 1 on 1 consistently.

Healthy Parsons and LVN outside again are each going to consistently beat any 1 on 1 match ups.

As a whole. There’s going to be a LOT of wide open gaps for our LBs to come clean, with those 4 up front. Should we decide to strategically collect those opportunities.

With minimal damage to our coverage schemes imo. Considering it’s only those rare opportunities where they leave themselves short handed to handle Hargrave, parsons, and cooper.

I think the personnel GB has could net as many pressures and sacks with 15%-20% LB blitzes, as opportunistic rushes. Vs a blitz happy scheme that has to compensate the entire defense to cover while they rush 35%-50% blitzes by LBs, like the leagues top LB blitzing teams do.

Oh I agree. Except I think we siready float more just under <25% Blitz area if I recall and that was lower on totem pole in league comparison in 2025. Likely because of Micah also. We could keep Edgerrin in coverage where he does excel also.

Here we start the season no Micah and our Personnel has additions and our Coordinator and LB coaching has changed. Earlier in the season we’d better be prepared to increase that low 20’s% blitz # imo.

Gannon was in a Dead heat with low 20’s % blitz rate while at Arizona. Obviously he wasn’t the DC though

I also think IF Hargrave and Wyatt remain healthy we’ll see a spike in interior pressure without needing to send 5 guys. I continually promote Hargrave and while he might not be an All Pro level, he’s very similar to Kenny Clark like production but with more Sacks than Kenny. Recall what our DL did in 2024? I see us back into that category. Less Gary and TJ and Enagbare
but +
Parsons, McClellan and Sorrell or Dani Dennis. I think DDS will eventually be an upgrade over Enagbare, I just don’t know how fast he’ll rise though.

The more I watch this 2026 Roster, the more I think our biggest difference over 2025 is depth.

Better depth almost across the board. You can never have enough quality depth players.

-We inject 3 draft picks into OL from 2024,2025,2026 and thus have a fierce battle for what I’d call OL spots #7-9. RD7 Williams, RD5 Burton and RD6 Glover all back into the room, there’s likely only 1 or 2 that make this Roster. I put our starting 5 + Kinnard as our more obvious 6th OL. THAT = likely 3 spots left. Plus we have Jennings, Monk, Barnhart, Cooper, Barrett, Banks (Brant) and Gesky. That 10 guys fighting for what’s likely 3 spots on the Roster (if we keep our typical 9 spots). Although I could see 2 OL signed to Practice Squad also, but we’re likely talking several recent draft picks not making our Roster.

I really like what we did at CB. By tripling down at CB we went from a weaker depth to strong depth DB room. St Juste, Cisse and Domani all adds since last season.

Our DL depth is much better with the additions of Hargrave and McClellan and we brought Ford back in also. There’s going to be a fierce battle at iDL past Hargrave and Wyatt.

RB has the capacity to be similar or better. But there’s a very real chance Lloyd is our #2. If he’s Healthy our floor is 2025 like but with better upside.

WR depth is Savion and Moore at WR5-6 and a battle between several other players for that last WR spot. While Moore was a disappointment for his RD2 draft stock, He is still an adequate Slot player in an emergency scenario can hold down that role if needed. Plus he’s not a Rookie.

Edge is similar to better depth. With way more competition added at the bottom in RD5 Oliver returning off IR and RD4 DDS in the draft. Sorrell or Cox Jr being primary backups.

TE remain about the same with minor concerns. Matter of fact the only 2 positions I’m even remotely concerned is at TE or RB, but that should come into focus better in the next month or so.

Cut down day is going to be a hard one this year.

I feel good about the TEs with Whyle and Musgrave. Besides the injury factors, that’s 3 really good TEs. Not sure a 4th is needed. If we want a blocking for depth, we should just keep an extra OT.

Jacobs, and Brooks hold the fort in my mind. Lloyd is the wild card. Maybe he doesn’t do anything. I’m holding my expectations somewhere around zero so anything he brings is bonus. But if I was being optimistic? Jacobs being pushed by Lloyd could give us one of those violent, RB duos that both Detroit and Chicago have both had the last couple years. Those two duos run like their lives depend on it, every down. And when one isn’t in there ripping 5 yards out of our DT space. It’s the other one.
I think Jacobs a blue chip stud, being pushed by a healthy, hungry, future starter(?) like Lloyd. That’s the recipe for both of them raising the bar on each other. GB getting their violent duo RBs like our rivals.

My concern is Oline. Last year I was supremely optimistic thinking we were coming into 2025 with a top tier Oline. Jenkins, our new stud LG Banks, RT Tom getting recognition. All making $20+ mil a year. Couple making $24m
They better be good. Well they all took turns getting hurt g hurt and we needed all that rookie contract depth to limp through the end of the year. Optimism squashed.

Now I see a unproven Morgan at the most important position on the line at LT. we have Banks coming off like a 4 injury season. He roughed it out but was not the stud we hired. Can he rebound? Rhyan at center and Belton at RT looked good together at times. And they looked like pure doody at other times. Usually a result of more injuries and no stability on the moving parts around them. And Tom who just graduated to top tier, needing to prove he can still play at that top tier level, post injury.

If any of those what ifs blow up in our face, GB is going to be dipping into their depth before they even get started. Again.

Now an optimistic me would say we have our 1st round pick at LT where he belongs. Our all pro LG and RT back in the line up healthy. And the young bruising interior C/RG duo getting an opportunity to play with 3 corner stones around them, instead of a merry go round of depth guys… if all 5 stay healthy, they could be a very dominant force. Which makes GB a very dominant force.

All pro? Banks has never even been to the All Star game.
Yikes. I just assumed since he was making like $24m/ yr on a 4 year deal. That he was an all pro at some point. But not even a pro-bowl? Yikes.

Well hopefully he develops into the LG Gute envisioned.

I agree with you. It was not a good deal for us. Our scouts for linemen are suspect imho

Hobbs was seemingly a miss too.

Gute really showed me this year that the cap is a very manageable and flexible situation when you don’t bury yourself in dead cap.

Even with huge dead cap hits like Clarks, or Gary and Hobbs. GB has stuck to the fundamentals and kept their players they drafted and developed. Many play out their contracts until there’s no dead cap. As a result it really becomes a liquid situation.

Gute retained and replaced everything he couldn’t retain, this off season. Resigned a bunch of ascending home grown guys, and got draft capital for the ones we lost to free agency. Replaced the key guys we moved on from with affordable , comparable alternatives. Added a very promising draft class without a 1st round pick.

And at the beginning I was scared how many free key free agents we had coming up, and how little cap we had to work with. Instead of rebuild Gutey has given a master class on how to put together a Super Bowl champion team.

It may appear positive on paper. But with new players and new coaches we cannot determine whether the team will gel particularly in the first half of the season. It is like a chemistry formula. How long does it take for the reaction to occur? With that said the depth looks better. And when injuries hit, that becomes paramount. Now the question is how good are they in relation to the opponents they will face? And how good are the coaches relative to the opposing coaches they will face?

I think the biggest surprise is when people see just how good Jordan Morgan becomes at left tackle. All the talk about him not being worth the draft pick and the comments about dumping him are going to be put to bed when they see what he can do out there.

I think the only reason he never got a chance to show what he had was more to do that they needed his body to fill holes elsewhere and now they have the people to take care of those needs so Morgan can do what he does best.

Yep. Morgan can play any position. Not many guys can play 5 positions. Last year he played every position except LT. Funny he’s our presumed starting LT! He’s a very versatile athlete and I think with an entire OTA Camp Preseason we’re probably looking at a league average LT out of the gate. Only ? For me is will he ever turn into Zach Tom 2.0 or just remain Rasheed like

GB has like 4 guys that have extensive playing time at LT. I noticed Monk has been the LG2 when Aaron Banks is out. I think he started slow, but he’s come on strong. He was one of the most tenured players in his program history. He Started 5 seasons at Duke and was the first player to do so at Duke in over 10 years.

I think the most missed evaluations by fans relates to offensive linemen. They see the guy in front of them today, then read a few stats and make a decision whether he's good or not. Just like a QB, or WR, it takes time to learn the responsibility you have on every play and to understand not only what they guy next to you is supposed to do but actually does do, during given plays. These little nuances of playing a position can change dramatically within a couple games or from one year to another. We saw that happen repeatedly across the line year after year.

The biggest thing that Morgan has learned is the responsibilities of everyone on the line and how he will fit into every play no matter what position he plays. Like was mentioned, there aren't too many guys that can digest it all and Morgan seems to have done that.

Even more important, as the season progressed, last year, his game improved showing he was learning his responsibilities. Combine that with the fact that he has the perfect footwork for an LT, along with his strength, and he should develop into a pretty good LT. His first few games will be a little weak I'd think but by midseason, he's going to be more than a handful for anyone on defense.

Speaking of sick time, every chance I look at this zany Packer schedule and the tough opponents we are facing I get sick myself. There is absolutely no reason to have a let down for any game because the opponents are no piece of cake for us. Only the Dolphin game in December could cause a trap. But with Hafley, it will not be the case. I predict that MLF will age 10 years this season. When you see him in the Summer of 27 he could be doing JUST FOR MEN commercials.

I'm curious as to what you think of the players the Packers have drafted for the OL. Do you view them as aggressive or pretty wimpy? Just a viewpoint I read on another forum.
