With the trade of George Pickens to the Cowboys, talk has picked up about the possibility of the Packers moving Doubs.

I think realistically the Packers could get a 4th or 5th round pick for him. He isn't as good as Pickens, but he also doesn't seem to be as high maintenance. He also has the concussion issues.

The argument against trading Doubs is basically just that he has a good rapport with Love and you don't want to take a comfortable target away from a growing QB.

However, I think the arguments to trade him are many:

1) You're going to let him walk next off-season, so it makes sense to get something for him now. One could argue that it makes more sense to wait and get the comp. pick, but the Packers have so many guys slated to his FA next season (Willis, Watson, Walker, Rhyan, Enagbare...) that they could trade one or two guys this off-season for 2026 draft capital and still end up receiving the maximum number of comp. picks (four) in the 2027 draft.

2) The Packers have a glut of pass catchers who are on a similar level. Wicks is a better receiver than Doubs provided his drop issue resolves. Reed and Kraft deserve targets. Musgrave may still factor into the offense, along with the running backs. Plus you've added a 1st round WR and a 3rd round WR. That's a lot of mouths to feed, considering...

3) This has become a run-heavy offense. The run-pass ratio last year was 52/48. Part of that was due to the Willis stint and Love's injuries, but the moves to fortify the OL with people movers this off-season would seem to indicate that they want to feature the running game. So the passing offense, while I project it to be very good, is going to be lower volume.

4) While not a headache on the level of a Pickens, Doubs has been a malcontent at times. I don't need any of that in a lockerroom as young as Green Bay's. Doubs also isn't nearly good enough to try to pull that kind of thing.

Ideally, the Packers can trade Doubs and Enagbare this off-season for mid round picks in 2026 or for help at DT. They can then lock up Walker and Tom and prepare to let the rest of the FA's walk, accruing a bunch of a comp. picks in 2027. Keep loading up on 9-12 player draft classes, keeping the roster young, cheap, and talented.
I haven't heard any rumblings about the Packers looking to trade Doubs. Do you have a source or two?

Like JA, I think there is too much uncertainty around Doubs to make him a viable trade candidate. He was arguably the #3 WR behind Watson and Reed, but his performances were spotty, he had that midseason suspension for reasons still unknown, and he clearly has a concussion problem. As a GM, I wouldn't trade for a guy with so many unknowns.

Finally, he has good hands and makes for a good possession receiver when he is available. I think he stays this year.

Thanks Pkr. I'm a little surprised that the Steelers (or any team) would have a serious interest in Doubs, given his history (suspension last season and history of concussions). Doubs is like Watson - a lot of potential not matched by consistent production.

Ty proposes a deal (see comment above) that sounds very interesting, giving the Packers another second round pick in 2026. If the Steelers were willing to go that route it would be too good to pass up.

Don't get me wrong, I like Doubs (and Watson). But I can't say with any assurance that I feel good (or bad) about their respective futures in the NFL. At this point, I just don't know.

Doubs looks like a solid possession receiver with good route instincts and reliable hands. And with a receiver room that now includes Golden, Williams, Doubs, Reed, and Wicks at the top, there are only so many times each will get targeted. That's a long way of suggesting a trade of Doubs is worth pursuing right now.

My guess is that Doubs will stay in Green Bay for now at least. Watson is unavailable for the time being, Wicks did not perform as well as hoped for last season, so Doubs stays for now.

I'll stand by to have the Pack prove me wrong.

Agreed. If/when Golden and/or Williams turn into productive WRs, keeping Doubs is the best thing to do for the team - and that's assuming he can play and still wants to play. He's not a flashy guy but he usually gets the job done. Just too risky to part ways with him until Golden and Williams get their chances, and if Wicks can learn to catch the ball.

To be fair that’s my opening pitch but highly doubt Pittsburgh would do it.

I’d likely settle for like 2026 4th and 2027 5th for Doubs and a 2027 6th type or similar.

This is TOUGH for me to write though because everyone knows my preference to Doubs…but facilitating this trade does accomplish future things

- we are facing a young roster coming into second contract windows…the value of draft picks is high to supplement and replace.

- Wicks is granted one more year to illustrate he can be more than just one of the best separators in the game and fill Doubs void left along with Golden helping some.

- It provides IMO a final solid look at Heath who could be an incredibly cheap resign who has shined when asked but has simply not had many chances.

- Takes Savion from gadget role guy that might see five snaps a game average up to maybe ten or so to get a real picture of what he is.

- takes one additional guy off the Ball and Gute contract discussions pending

I’ve got mixed feelings and there are obvious uncertainties similar to J’aire. My guess is he’s not going to be here in 2026. He’ll either continue down the same path or price himself out if GB if he expands production. I think Golden, Savion and Hardman are all insurance policies on Watson, Doubs and one more depth player.

I could definitely see a trade and imo a 4th straight up would be a reasonable asking price. Maybe maybe throw them a 7th back as a sweetener etc but otherwise I’d just keep him. It’s likely at least 1 WR misses time. Anything less than a 4th for me isn’t enough to lose a quality WR3 in a Win now.

Thanks for the clarification. It's hard to do value assessments when a relatively unproven player, like Doubs, is involved. It would be nice to get a 2nd rounder, but unrealistic.

I still believe that like JA, Doubs will still be in GB for 2025-2026. If he has a career year, he'll get paid, by somebody. In that scenario, and with two rookie WRs on the team, they may choose to pay him. It would be a nice problem to have.

The challenge is getting all these WRs enough snaps to prove anything. I hope that by the end of the season, there is clarity re: the top 3 WRs.

We’ve got a lot of players that have something to prove. Musgrave is another one. He’s not much of a blocker so he needs to turn it on this year. If he gets going Matt can use slightly more 12 Personnel and he’s really just a big Receiving target.

It probably won’t happen but in a fictitious world GB trades 1 WR and Hardman takes on a slightly bigger role. Hes a guy that from 2019-2022 Rookie contract averaged a respectable 522 Receiving yards per season at around a nice 14 yards per catch and 4+ TD’s seasonally.

Hardman provides us with a veteran presence and he seems to get better playing in postseason games (14 postseason appearances). He has 38 targets in postseason at a 71+% reception rate. Hardman is exactly Randall Cobb at PR (9.2 average) but once he’s in playoffs he elevated (12.3 per)
Probowler-1
All-Pro-1
Superbowls-3

Hardman is cheap $$ and his output is substantial. He serves well on Teams at both PR/KR without risking losing Nixon from the DB room. At minimum he can rotate in at both PR/KR/WR and some end around Runs.

Yeah adding Musgrave and Hardman is gonna make targets even harder. I think Hardman will be used primarily as a PR/KR. There are too many other young guys like Musgrave, Golden, and Williams that have (potentially) long-term futures with GB. Journeyman Hardman is like a rental to replace Nixon on STs. I don't see him getting a lot of snaps on offense.

And with Kraft playing so well, Musgrave is gonna have to work really hard in TC and PS to get targets starting in September.

Sure. When you look across this Roster. There’s a lot to like. It’s up to Matt and Jordan to put these players in position to shine. This is a really important year on Offense and it’s time to take it up a notch.
I want to see our top 2 RB’s used a little more in the Passing game also. Both Jacobs and Lloyd came out of College as Top Tier Yards After Contact types. Get them in space more.

I also think Hardman is mainly Teams, but we could do a whole lot worse at WR6 if a pair of players either disappoint or are injure. In each where he was fed targets (he injured his thumb in 2013 and his knee in 2024) he was the #2,#3,#3,#4 producing Wideout at KC. He’s not flashy but he’s reliable.

I agree. For me it’s about the stage of Roster development the Offense is in and where the Team is as a whole. Right now we’ve just developed Doubs and year 4 could be a year he’s the guy who pops and surprises with 800 yards etc. My guess is Golden will draw more attention and another WR will benefit. We’re also in a Win Now scenario, so it’s not ideal to trade away our more experienced players.

Agree with all. It looks like a bag of riches on offense. Of course, there's only one ball. MLF will have to dig deep in his playbook to come up with plays that leverage all this talent, and keep opposing DCs guessing.

And I'd like to see the RBs more involved in the pass game as well. Especially against a strong, aggressive defense - like Detroit at full strength, or Philly, designed plays that get the RBs in space can move the sticks and preserve the QB. And yeah, Jacobs and Lloyd are capable pass catchers.

It’s fun to talk about a trade so not to be a party popper. Probably best to just to hold players that are starter capable. One mistake I’ve seen myself and others make is we don’t factor injuries enough. It’s almost rare to go through a season healthy at a position group… like we did at OL in 2024. Yet the second we lose an OL or WR (or any position) we fold up like a tent. I’d rather not have injuries but they are a part of Roster planning. That depth guy we developed and traded away in hopes of a Day 3 selection could be the guy that comes in and shines.

I learned that lesson from James Starks. He got his chance to shine and he came in motivated to prove himself. Can you imagine had we traded him for a 4th rounder or 5th rounder? He not only elevated our backfield in the postseason, but he went on to become a mainstay in our Backfield for several seasons. That cat was 6th Round Rookie later in his first season he just popped and partly because he had a good team around him that encouraged him.

amen. He was probably an outlier but we get those from time to time. Linsley was day 3 drafted rookie and the minute JC went down they plugged him a Center. Now his first game at Seattle was a little tough (Rodgers screamed at him! lol) but sometimes getting hollered at by an All Pro is just what the Doctor ordered. Linsley went on to become an All Pro himself! Whatever happened worked.

Every 3 or 4 players just take a minute to pop. Next thing we know they get their chance and move to the front of the room. I guess what I’m saying is we need to trust the process a little more. Not to mention I don’t think we should ever trade a player for light or transient reasons. It’s not a good moral boost to his teammates IMO.

That said I’m not a dummy either. There’s “trade me now price” on most players. Theres a price that if you’ll pay it I’ll move out of my own house I’m not that attached.

Here’s my trade me now price where it’s realistic but costly for a trade partner. An area I’d part with a player if you want to peel him away in a win now. I’m not suggesting this will happen but I’m at least listening in these values.

Romeo Doubs
2026 3rd, swap 5th for my 6th

Christian Watson
2026 2nd Rounder I’ll kick back a 6th

Quay Walker
A 2026, Day 1 straight up.

Devonte Wyatt
2026 Day 1 + Day 3 swap 4th/6th

Enagbare
A 2026 3rd rounder

Rasheed Walker
A 2026 2nd and 2027 6th

Zach Tom
2026 Day1, 2027 2nd,4th Rounders

Sean Rhyan
2026 3rd and swap 5th for my 6th

Malik Willis
2026 2nd Rounder

Devonte Wyatt

Zach Tom
2026,2027 Day 1’s

Sean Rhyan
Top 75 area straight up.

Malik Willis
2026 2nd Rounder

I understand the exercise but I think you're missing that no one knows within what round they'll end up - sure assumptions with some reasonableness can be made but catastrophic injuries, incredible runs...I'd do the exercise with actual knowns like:

Romeo Doubs
Day2 likely pick as the center piece would be needed

BUT I would argue what you claim to be realistic but costly....is unrealistic and too costly for anyone to consider. Doubs is the only one that could potentially happen so long as you send a 4th back to them along with him.

Those amounts for those players are unrealistic Madden figures IMO.

Yeah the lack of depth on the OL was never as obvious as it was until Jenkins went down in the Philly game. Two rookies tried backing him up and promptly earned two holding penalties, back to back, same player. Gluten did a nice job addressing this in the offseason.

Injuries are gonna happen. Sometimes the SB teams are the ones blessed with talent and a lack of injuries.

Interesting. No team is gonna give up a first rounder for Walker, not even close, if that's what you are suggesting.

My argument to a GM that said that is this. You called me I didn’t call you, so there’s obviously a need.
While Walker isn’t an All Pro, he IS a plug n play, starting level LT in the NFL. Btw one who was part of a Top 8 scoring Offense. If you think you can wait another season, be prepared to take heat from your fan base first, then your Owner next..
A future Day 1 is a complete gamble, I could easily end up with Darnell Savage 2.0 or CB Damarius Randall or any number of players who never finished their Rookie contract or worse. Plus I wait a full year just to experience that? Losing the equivalent of a round in value due to lost time value.
BTW just so you know Joe I don’t want to part from any current players because I believe we are talented enough to make it to a SB. We’ve got some tough competition but at those above terms those contract year players would be ones we look hard at. The only guys really untouchable are Tom and possibly Devonte because Kenny is winding down soon.

I'm a little concerned about the whole idea of trading Doubs to be honest. His concussions and suspension shouldn't play into the equation. Of all the receivers the Packers have, his biggest assets are exactly what Love needs to see on the field.

Last year the Packers offense believed they were a quick strike team that could really open up the field with the long passes. In the process, Doubs and Reed were constantly overlooked in the route tree despite being wide open. It a greater number of those longer passes, they ended up as incompletions, and didn't do much to further the offense.

Fans are way too quick to throw someone under the bus and anoint a new guy coming into town as the best player since the invention of sliced white bread.

The Packers have a solid WR room this year even with what's going to be 2 newbies taking up a lot of oxygen in the learning curve. My biggest concern is going to be how well Love sees the field, and the players working off the ball. The great QBs see everyone out there, and make those reads, and throw to them to move the chains and maintain possession.

My #1 concern on this team at this point is the defensive line. I just don't think we have the horses to put top 5 defense pressure on QBs to insure everyone else can do their jobs effectively.

As for whom I'd trade. I won't have a clue until I see what the 2nd & 3rd year players and newbies bring to the table in camp.

Just curious, so discussions based on what WR makes the most sense means you're rolling the bus over a guy? I love Doubs, everyone here knows it and I banged his drum even in the pre-draft process...but he does make the most sense from a "likely to trade vs desired to be traded for" type a guy in the WR room. Had Wicks had a better year last year I'd actually say Wicks because of extra year of control.

I think you have to be open to making tough decisions like we did with many others in recent years. Trust the process of draft and but in a Win Now I’d go a little more conservative instead of sending players packing. If it’s stupid collateral no one is immune.

This is really just time killing stuff it’s not likely going to happen. It’s just an exercise to keep us all thinking imo. Like you always say the “what if” or “a friend asked me this question”. It’s fun to explore it
