Willis will be “interesting” to a bottom quadrant team who doesnt see their QB in this years draft OR who wants to sit that pick for a year or two. Last year Geno Smith was available for Oakland, Darnold for Seattle others I’m missing… hell RODGERS was available. Willis will be “of interest” but I dont think he’ll be a “HOT commodity.

Is he worth a 1st now?

Honestly I’m not sure, I would bet it would be a couple seconds or something like that IF tradeable.

I don’t think we ever see a comp pick for him that high because I suspect we are gonna be active in FA

In the 4 or 5 games he has played a significant number of snaps, and/or started, Willis sure looks like a starting QB. But it's still only 4 or 5 games.

A GM would be foolish to sign him to more than a one-year prove it deal. My guess is some GM will do that, probably a $20 mil, one-year prove-it deal. The Packers should get a 3rd round comp pick.

The bigger concern is what the Packers do at backup. I'd rather they acquire a guy with some miles who can still play (Mariota, for ex.(.

What kind of deal do you think Willis gets? He's only started a few games, even though he's played really well. My guess is a one-year deal for around $20 mil. That's risky for a GM if he sets the league on fire, but IMO signing him to a 3-year deal is too risky. Your thoughts?

Eh likely a two year or three year deal where the second or the third year is likely NOT happening. Could give him like a 3 year $80M deal but with only like $25M guaranteed or even $30M.

Or his agent and him might have to do a single year deal but who knows. It’ll be interesting which teams will want him that also view themselves not in the hunt for one in the draft.

The best scenario for Malik would be a team already believes he is there guy and they grab him asap, draft without QB in mind then.

What happened to Willis? It looked like maybe he dislocated his shoulder and they went to the locker room and put it back in.

Love's injury couldn't have come at a better time for Malik. Had he not played during this time, I think he is less of a commodity in Free Agency. Not that he hasn't done it in previous games this season and last, but Malik has now proven, over 6 games in 2 years, to some teams that he can be their starter. At this point, he may be the best QB that will be available in Free Agency, which should drive his price up even higher.

If his shoulder is fine, I won't be surprised to see him start again VS the Vikings. Every snap, every quarter, every game that Malik is playing in, adds another Million or 2 to his new contract. I hope that if he does play against the Queens, he is lights out and drives that deal up even further.

There is actually a part of me that thinks if there wasn't such a big dead cap on Jordan, $98,415,462, the Packers might have thoughts of trading him and resigning Malik, but that won't happen. Nor will they tag and trade Malik, since doing so would require a salary cap juggling act that I don't even think Ball could pull off.

Go Malik! You are the biggest bright spot of this Packer team right now.

What surprised me about Willis was how good his arm is. He throws an accurate tight spiral with juice. And as someone else pointed out, he leads receivers very well. I don't believe he was terrible with Tennessee. Just another example of coaches making up their minds too quickly for who knows what reasons. They obviously didn't give him much of a chance. I hope his shoulder heals completely.

How many of his games in Tenn did you watch or how many did you go back and watch when we traded for him?

I’ll say it - he was terrible.

Seems more like the Titans coaching staff was terrible and/or their GM was terrible for giving up on him. ;)

Right system, good development, mindset....3 key elements of what makes or breaks an NFL player.

And I'll say they obviously didn't see what they had. Very easy for coaches to put players into can't win situations. Makes them feel better about their decisions. imho

I honestly think that the Packers offense is better suited for Malik right now than it is for Love. I know that isn't intentional by MLF, but it is a product of a porous OL that can't run block or protect the QB very well. Love is more determined to stay in a collapsing pocket and gut it out. Willis, sees the pocket collapse and uses his wheels to make a play. I would go as far to say that with MLF calling plays, "Love's Offense" is highly predictable. Where as with Willis in there, the defense has a harder time figuring out what COULD happen.

lol guys Malik was overwhelmed and not good in Tennessee. Plain and simple.

It’s okay to admit he was. It doesn’t change how good he has become. He was terrible early in his career.

It's a difficult situation. Can we use both QBs in the same game interchangeably? It may be what would be best.

I have been hoping to see this since Malik showed us what he can do with his legs and his arm in the Tennessee game last season. Too next level for MLF? Too much of a "we don't trust you to get it done Jordan"? To me, inserting Willis on occasion accomplishes 3 things. First, it is putting your best players on the field, for the given situations. Second, it is a good way to keep the defense guessing. Third, rest and protection for Love.

Now we know that MLF isn't afraid to insert Savion Williams as the wildcat. I guess I would much rather see Malik in that role a few times in the playoffs and see what happens.

Much like Favre, Rodgers and Love were early in their careers. ;)

I think the point that some of us are trying to make is that he was on a crappy team in Tennessee. Not that great of players around him and not very good coaches. Not to mention that is the worst situation for a rookie to be thrown in to. Had he gotten better coaching, better teammates and some patience, the Titans might not be in the mess that they are still in.

I recall in 2011 we used back up Matt Flynn to play the last of our 15-1 season. He set a record that day. T
The Seahawks were in need of a QB so they signed Flynn for a hefty sum. However, Russell Wilson beat him out for the starting job. Flynn came back to GB in 2013 when Rodgers broke his collarbone.
I hope it works for Willis.
