I truly believe that as long as the Packers hold on to both Thompson and Capers there's no way to fairly evaluate who is mostly to blame for the defensive shortcomings.

I certainly agree with this, but the more and more evidence that I see, the more that I am leaning towards it being mostly the fault of Capers.

If the defense doesn't significantly improve over the course of this season I definitely hope at least one of Thompson and Capers aren't retained for the 2018 season.
