I hope TT goes after Holliday and Olshansky..they both together probably would be cheaper then Canty and both have experience with the 3-4 witch the packers will really need and not rely on a draft pick with no experience.

The Miami Dolphins plan to cut defensive end Vonnie Holliday, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

Holliday was scheduled to be paid a $1.5 million roster bonus Tuesday with a $500,000 roster bonus later on in the offseason. The team will absorb a $2.5 million salary cap hit upon his release.

“He enjoyed his time here,” agent Brian Levy told the Herald. ”He did everything asked of him and he can leave with his head held high.

“This is a business. Players leave teams and teams leave players. It’s an amicable split. He’s happy to have left the Dolphins on winning note.”

Also of note Silverstein of Journel is reporting Packers are pursuing Olshansky.

Holliday's best years are behind him. While I feel the Packers should have kept him way back when they let him go; now he is done and it would be wasted money to sign.

Jason Taylor is 35 and I don't see him being a option at DE. LB? hmm not there either. His best years are for sure behind him.

Olshansky I don't know a lot about as I've only seen him play on TV. I know that a lot of Charger fans are down on him. They are not too upset he may leave. He is to them what KGB was here for so long. Never really was much and only showed glimpses of talent for years.

I really don't think we need another KGB around do we?

KGB was a speed rusher who only had the flashy stats like stats to keep him around as DE in 43. He was purely a pass rush specialist and could not hold his own against the run and towards the end couldn't even get heat on the qb. Igor is a beast and his game isn't weighed by the flashy stats. He is a big 300 pounder that would cause some disruption but primarily eat up blockers and be stout against the run.

Holliday would give us some good exp. and knowledge of the 3-4. Especially the one Dom runs as Vonnie played under him for a few years in Miami

I wasn't speaking about the two as players. I was speaking to what the fans of both thought of them during their time with their teams. Neither was really thought of much by the fans.

That was my point.

Holliday would have been great 4 years ago. Not now. He has nothing left. The experience thing could help in the locker room but you can't pay dollars for locker room guys. We have Leroy Butler for free to hang around the locker room for support.

I wouldn't be so quick to eliminate Vonnie.

From JSOnline:

While Holliday is 33, he's 6-foot-5, 285 pounds and has played end in the 3-4 since Nick Saban arrived in Miami in 2005 -- when Holliday left the Kansas City Chiefs for the Dolphins. Holliday played the position for new Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers in Miami both during and after Saban's tenure. Holliday continued as a 3-4 end last season with starts in 15 of 16 games run by the Dolphins under coach Tony Sparano.

He had 46 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 2008.

The Packers certainly have Holliday's cell number. A league source at the Senior Bowl said two members of the organization called Holliday to ask about Capers before he was hired. Holliday, who played under Capers in ’06 and ’07, gave the Packers his highest recommendation: Holliday told them Capers is the coach he respected the most during his 11-year career.

Capers has a great deal of respect for Holliday, who is a tremendous locker room leader and is durable (four missed games the past four seasons -- all in '07).

I still have a Green Bay #90 Holliday jersey so I suppose I should be in favor of him returning.

Plus with Cole gone now his old number is available again :)

I just don't see him having impact if he does sign here. I suppose if you could get him for very very cheap he would be a asset somewhere if not on the field. I did think it was foolish of the Packers to let him go when they did, but it is too late to make up for that mistake. He just doesn't have much left at this point. Sorry. I like Vonnie.

I don't see it happening but it isn't the most ridiculous thing I've heard this off-season.

Yeah, don't know about playing, didn't see the last Miami games, but I suppose it's easier for a player to learn a position from another player, specially if this player is a leader... Like you said, it would have to be very very cheap though...
