Brett Favre has posted a quarterback rating above 100 for the third consecutive week, something he hadn’t done since the first three weeks of the 1996 season. When Favre hits triple digits for a quarterback rating, the Packers are almost guaranteed a victory.

In 261 starts, including 20 playoff games, Favre hit the 100-rating plateau a total of 90 times, or 34% of his games. In those games, the Packers have a remarkable 84-6 record.

Favre hit the 100 rating just once in 2005, compared to a high of nine times in 1995. He hit that mark eight times in 20 post-season games. Here’s a look at the Packers’ record, by year, when Favre went over the 100 QB rating:

2007: 3-0 #
2006: 4-0
2005: 1-0
2004: 7-1
2003: 5-1
2002: 6-0
2001: 7-0
2000: 2-1
1999: 3-0
1998: 4-2
1997: 7-0
1996: 8-0
1995: 9-0
1994: 5-1
1993: 2-0
1992: 3-0 ##
Playoffs: 8-0 ###

# Has started four games.
## Started 13 games.
### Includes 20 total games.

Breaking down Favre’s 100-rating performances another way, here’s the percentage of games Favre has hit 100 under each Packers head coach during his career:

Mike McCarthy (35%, 7 of 20 games)
Mike Sherman (29%, 30 of 102 games)
Ray Rhodes (19%, 3 of 16 games)
Mike Holmgren (36%, 44 of 123 games)

Based on those numbers, it could be argued that Favre has turned in as many outstanding games, percentage-wise, under McCarthy as he did under Holmgren.

I would have to give both Favre and MM a lot of credit for being capable of putting together whatever it takes to equal the kind of numbers he was able to produce in his prime.

Congrats to Brett for defying old man time and the same to MM for selling Brett on his plan. I'm sure there was a little more struggling with this than we are aware of.

Good point. I do think MM gets some of the credit for working in a game plan that makes use of Brett's skill set and avoids his weaknesses.
