Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Green Bay Packers have signed fourth-round draft pick CB Will Blackmon to a four-year, $2.043 million contract. Blackmon received a $433,500 signing bonus and will earn minimum base salaries for all four years. He can increase his base salary for 2009 through an escalator based on playing time and performance levels.

Wow, for a moment there I thought it was a 4 year 20.43 million dollar contract. Just about lost it for a sec...

is he playing wr or cb for us? and is he are kick returner ?

His 2,700 career kickoff return yards fell just 222 yards shy of the Division I-A all-time mark.

The Green Bay Packers Friday signed cornerback Will Blackmon, the team's second of two selections in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft (115th overall). Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing.

Blackmon, a 6-foot-0, 198-pound product from Boston College, is the fourth Green Bay draft selection to sign, along with defensive end Dave Tollefson (June 23), defensive tackle Johnny Jolly (July 7) and safety Tyrone Culver (July 11).

A three-year starter and two-time all-conference selection, he began his collegiate career at cornerback before switching to wide receiver his senior season. As a cornerback, Blackmon tallied career totals of 141 tackles (104 solo), eight interceptions among 22 passes broken up, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two tackles for loss. He amassed 3,995 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns as a wide receiver and return specialist for the Eagles. His 2,700 career kickoff return yards fell just 222 yards shy of the Division I-A all-time mark.

Blackmon earned all-conference honors in two separate leagues at two different positions (Atlantic Coast Conference - wide receiver; Big East - cornerback).

Not any that I am aware of cheesy. First round picks will getmoving once a few 1st rounders have signed, because then it becomes easier to have a figure in mind about what the player will be paid and the total value of the contract.

Remember Blackmon Broke his foot and in here is some kind of time table, and ya it also says he will play CB.

Mike Vandermause, of PackersNews.com, reports even though Green Bay Packers rookie CB Will Blackmon (foot) signed his first NFL contract Friday, July 14, the team is not sure when he will be ready to practice at training camp. He broke a foot May 21, the final day of the Packers' second offseason minicamp, and there's been speculation he won't be able to work out with the team until the middle of August at the earliest. Blackmon didn't practice during the Packers' organized team activities and there were indications he might miss a significant portion of training camp. Blackmon will play cornerback for the Packers after playing cornerback and wide receiver in college.

I really think that this Blackmon kid could be something special. Obviously not this year, but soon enough. I really liked watching him play at BC, and he possesses the skills necessary to be a very good CB in the NFL. Good size, Good hands, very good speed.
