His 2,700 career kickoff return yards fell just 222 yards shy of the Division I-A all-time mark.
The Green Bay Packers Friday signed cornerback Will Blackmon, the team's second of two selections in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft (115th overall). Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing.
Blackmon, a 6-foot-0, 198-pound product from Boston College, is the fourth Green Bay draft selection to sign, along with defensive end Dave Tollefson (June 23), defensive tackle Johnny Jolly (July 7) and safety Tyrone Culver (July 11).
A three-year starter and two-time all-conference selection, he began his collegiate career at cornerback before switching to wide receiver his senior season. As a cornerback, Blackmon tallied career totals of 141 tackles (104 solo), eight interceptions among 22 passes broken up, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two tackles for loss. He amassed 3,995 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns as a wide receiver and return specialist for the Eagles. His 2,700 career kickoff return yards fell just 222 yards shy of the Division I-A all-time mark.
Blackmon earned all-conference honors in two separate leagues at two different positions (Atlantic Coast Conference - wide receiver; Big East - cornerback).
