What is a hole on a team? That's always a pertinent question. Those, I think, are players targeted by the opposing team's coordinators. They are well below average NFL starters.

Last season Ryhan was a hole at center. He was fine in the running game but struggled mightily in the passing game. That doesn't automatically mean he'll remain that way in 2026. Give him more experience and he could take a leap forward.

Another hole last year was IDL against the running game.

Just because you swap out players, doesn't mean any hole on a team is filled. The new player could be even worse if he's unproven. The only proof that a hole is filled is by grading the new guy or seeing if the previous player improves.
I am seeing more players going out than coming in. The ones leaving were starters last year.

Yes. 2026 will be a reverse mirror of 2025. In 2025 the team was solid through the first 7 and hapless in the last 7. In 2026 they will be behind the 8 ball for the first 7 but come on stronger in the last 7. It will depend on those middle 3 games as to how we finish. Looking at the roster but not knowing the schedule we could be 7-10 on the down side. And 10-7 on the upside. Likely somewhere in between.

A couple names to monitor this week.

FA signing: Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen
Trade possibility: Eagles DT Jalen Carter

I’m curious if we’ve called about health of Christian Wilkins and desire to play. Could be cheap DT that if he is some of his old self….be nice

If Sean Rhyan was a hole, so was who he replaced. Center play was very much middle of the road by Jenkins and continued with Rhyan...now Jenkins is more balanced, where Rhyan is better at run blocking for sure, but not a savvy in pass pro.

Boys should be better on D. With Gary and Kenny Clark maybe they can give the Eagles a run.
I like what Dallas is doing. I don't think it's long-term friendly, but they're going to have a shot this year. I see what they're trying to do.

I actually am going to bet The Giants for the division.. Could just be burning money!

I'm done with a 6'3 200 pound corner who did pretty well in zone coverage last year. Solid gamble to me

St. Juste was a fairly highly regarded college prospect who has the frame and athleticism but it never clicked in Washington as well as people thought, he still played significant snaps for them his final three years there.

LAC signed him last year and he balled out. His coverage grade (PFF) was a 77.8 and overall defense was a 76.3.

While that season could be atypical to what his norm is, and he is a bit of a gamble - he is INSTANTLY our best outside CB in my opinion on the roster.

Gute, if he felt cornered into needing to draft a corner lessoned that with this. This is something Gute constantly does yearly.

2yr for $10, is a low investment for what could be our #1 CB

You'll notice while not a burner nor strong, the kid can wiggle and move his hips and body...that shuttle and 3cone is next level.

So correct me if I am wrong but my understanding is that a June 1 designation basically means we'll be freeing up some more space this year as well as kicking some of the dead money into next year. Since we were already cap compliant for this season (as I recall) then as far as I can tell there's not really much benefit to making that designation unless we had some reason we needed more money freed up for this year?

Long way of saying...makes me wonder if there isn't some bigger move planned and/or in the works this year?

Here's what Andy Herman said about Hobbs' June 1st designation.

If the team is done with him, releasing him without the designation costs far far more to this year's cap. This move will free up the savings after June 1st for this year and then also push some of cap eating into 2027.

Essentially Gute just freed up this year's "reserve/future extensions" money and can likely plan on fully depleting cap space in FA and Draft if he would want.

Let's hope that Savion isn't JA-3RB (Just Another 3rd Round Bust)/

He did very little to impress me last season.

I'm so confused by this. How so? He didn't see a ton of snaps, but illustrated excellent abilities with ball in his hands and his blocking skills progressed nicely which was a refreshing sight given his size. Dude was just an oober athlete with the ball in his hands at college, and refined receiver he wasn't.

To me he could easily become a poor man's Cordale Patterson of an offense....that's his ceiling now mind you.

What did he do that impressed you?

I kind of knew that you would respond to this. ;)

I didn't say he was a bust, I said that I hope he isn't. He was in for 91 plays and like I said, he didn't do a whole lot to impress me.

What did he do, I mean the fact the team did as many designed touch plays for him despite such limited snaps honestly should impress anyone. I didn't expect him to be in much at all if honest his first year. Those two things alone were impressive, but I really like his vision and willingness to not just see and take a seam, he HITS the seam. His balance on contact given his size is unique too and to me appears to be translating to the NFL - very limited reps.

He might be the one sophomore that I'm most intrigued to see come the preseason if honest.
