Just for the record 41.7% of defensive snaps is more than just a middling rotational piece (Enagbare). That $10M one year deal is so appealing to him and his agent and kudos to him. If he turns in a solid year he's going to make bank.

That's two Edge rushers gone... with Parson's on the mend the room suddenly got thin.

Wonder if they have their eye on someone?
Especially with Enagbare for a 1 year 10 per. I'm not a huge fan, but I'd think they would have signed him given Parsons' injury and Gary being traded.

Now that Gary is gone, the biggest question is whether the Packers cut Jenkins for additional cap space or somehow restructure him ro keep on the team.

Without Jenkins, the Packers would be seriously thin at O line depth. So thin, that the season would be quickly scuttled by any injuries which we all know always hits the Packers.
If Jenkins will restructure I'd like to see him back at Guard where he excelled.

Time for the Packers to go out and sign Tua for a Vet. min contract. The Dolphins will be accounting for his $99M dead cap over the next 2 years. Meanwhile, Tua can chill in GB, count his bank and be under no pressure behind Jordan.
This wouldn't be the worst move. Maybe Matt can fix Tua and his tendency to throw picks and we can get something for him too down the road...

Ian Rapoport reporting that Free agent WR Alec Pierce has agreed to terms to remain in Indianapolis on a historic 4 year $114M deal that will make him the highest paid free agent receiver in NFL History. $60m fully guaranteed at signing, and a max package of $116M.

Crazy money for a WR. Sadly, Christian Watson and his agent can't stop smiling.
Will Watson get that kind of coin from anyone?

No. Because he is under contract. So the question would be will Watson get that kind of coin from Green Bay.

Answer is, yes if they choose to sign him now or play out his one year left.

I rarely gloat.. but I called the Hafley pulling Malik over! I just had a gut feeling Jeff was going to at least at minimum bid on him.

Congrats to Malik he just hit Jackpot!$$ that guy earned that opportunity. :p

Hopefully, not the Packers.

The Packers have been living hard against the cap for several seasons and they did it with a very "cheap" WR room. While I love having top 10 WR's, I just don't think breaking the bank by paying a top 32 WR top 10 money, is the way to build your roster.

Gute needs to push away from these big guaranteed contracts for positions that really shouldn't get them.

I think GB will sign Cox Jr but only at 50-60% area of Enagbare $$. Something like a 3yr/$15-20mil. If his medicals check out etc... he was trending Upwards at a heavy clip before injury.

It’ll depend on playing time and performance but I’d say 60% chance he gets a RD3 as we’re likely 4-5 comp picks deep. So it’s protected.

The formula is to qualify RD3 the $$ has to be in the top 5% of FA deals, turn it competes with those qualifiers. Other factors like playing time, production, post season accolades can apply but likely have a lesser effect.

Based on the fact that the Packers haven't released him, I assume they may be trying to do just that. The Packers are sort of in the drivers seat on Elgton's contract. They "only" face a dead cap hit of $4.8M if he isn't on the roster in Sept. I guess you also have to factor in his $500K workout bonus, but basically the Packers can push him to sign a new deal, trade him, or cut him between now and Sept. I see 0.001% chance that they just leave his contract as is.

They could for sure play mean with him, I'd use it as massive leverage. BUT to be fair I don't think I'm signing him now that Rhyan is here unless we are talking Rhyna level or less type money.

Based on the Gary deal, I am revising my expectations with a new prediction. We dont cut Jenkins but trade him to the Cowboys for a 3rd.

I'd rather have a 4th and a 6th rounder. Set aside Kraft and maybe Sean Rhyan, 3rd round picks have been a disaster in Green Bay! :whistling: :coffee:

I guess you could say that the Packers could play "mean", but I would say the same thing about Jenkins, if he won't take a decrease in his contract. ;)

He has been paid an average of $17M/year, in my opinion, if one side should give in, it should be Elgton. Also, he will be coming off of a fractured fibula and torn ligaments injury, so that might have something to so with why he isn't being traded or released, just yet.

Honestly, wouldn't shock me if he retires.

I concur. I mean I'm in the camp of let him walk or essentially it has to be a tear up and rework to where he is next to nothing this year and we can rediscuss if he proves recovered.

I just don’t see this happening. Also it’s probably not too smart covering up Belton and Banks contract just got restructured so his concrete just dried in Green Bay.

Elgton deal looks complicated. I just don’t see any way out and they might just be trying to get a draft pick at this point. My guess is we’re Pitting teams against each other for a later Day 3 etc.

Maybe it’s just me wanting to move on but give me his $19.5mil and a RD6 swap for our RD7 that’s a Win.

His injury and that base salary hit I think makes him immovable to a team. It isn't like the Gary deal where Dallas is getting him cheap for the level of guy he is.

It'd be insane to turn Jenkins into a draft pick and Gute needs a nod from everyone (even his haters) if he manages that.

Yup, by the time Sept. rolls around, Jenkins will be playing under a new contract. Which team that is for remains to be seen. I don't think there is a team desperate enough to pick up his $18.5M 2026 contract. Plus, I think he can earn up to an additional $1M in per game roster bonuses on his current deal.

I don't doubt that Gute and the Packers would like to keep him around to play or trade, at a much reduced rewrite of his current deal. However, I am guessing his agent knows he will make more money if he just waits to be cut.
