I was responding to your post of:
You said "get Brinson back", I assumed that he had been back, but thought you may know something about an injury. I also wasn't sure, so I looked up his snap counts for my 2nd reply.
You were talking about improving the DL and implying Brinson might help. I disagreed.
Sorry if I struck a nerve, wasn't intending to.
I gotcha. np.
Well I know none of us appreciated last week at DT. I actually did see a late article claiming he was a late inactive, which obviously was wrong but it was towards the beginning of the game so normally it’s like the weather real time or hard to mess it up. Then I had looked up production after the game on ESPN and his name wasn’t listed. Then I looked to PFR (but I think they get their info from other sources like ESPN) and he had 0-0-0-0-0-0-0 . … . … that’s each production field and blanks for snap counts. That was a day after the game. So naturally one would think he didn’t play. In fact he did play but he recorded zero stats
I think you’d admit that it’s a relative anomoly that a DT plays any meaningful measure of snaps without registering a single stat. So that’s my fault for assuming he didn’t play based on misinformation and no information. Today it shows his snap counts.
To be abundantly clear, I don’t think there’s any 1 player fix solution to what we witnessed. Matter of fact, just the opposite. Of 4 DT to finish the game, 3 of the 4 recorded career high snaps. 56,52,34 snaps. One player was injured 14 snaps and another was his debut 11 snaps.
That personnel or scheme is NOT an ideal Lineup to Defend the #1 team in the NFL per rushing attempt with probably the Top power RB and a very capable Rushing QB in Huntley. All that against an Offense employing regular, 6 OL, JUMBO packages.
With 53 Runs, we needed 6 DT (or 5 that can play at least 35+ snaps at minimum) PLUS 1 more LB activated who is equipped to play Run stop. Preferable a 240lb + thicker LB who’s got a pop like Oliver. Using a 5-3-3 or with 1 LB fully committed to the RB running straight at him on every last play. Another LB staying lateral on Huntley as a Spy and immediately Downhill the second he tucks it to meet him head on near LOS. Completely commit to the run and make them pass more.
