Veteran QB Desmond Ridder is signing to the Packers practice squad, per source. With Jordan Love and Malik Willis dealing with injuries and Green Bay locked into the No. 7 seed, Ridder could be elevated for Sunday’s game vs. Minnesota.

Packer fans may remember Ridder, when he beat us in 2023.

Ridder is actually a guy I thought of would be excellent to have in camp 2026 as Willis moves on. Raw but experienced and motivated...

Agree and this is the perfect time to bring him in, so a nice move by Gute. Gives both Ridder and the Packers to see if there is enough there to make this a 2026 thing.

Well, good luck to him!! Hopefully he can reclaim some of his old form... I suspect can't be much worse than our current crop

Bill Huber is saying he was picked up off of waivers by us, so we'd be taking on his prorated 2025 salary along with the remainder of the contract (14.5m/19.5m/20m). Cowboys eat the signing bonus of 21m

I can't say for sure but I'd be pretty confident it'll just be a few weeks trial and then reassess after that point. His extension was 5yrs 97m but only ~42m total guaranteed money. Of that 33.3m was guaranteed at signing and as mentioned Cowboys were paying out the 21m signing bonus. So I would think there is hardly much guaranteed left

Actually I'm just now reading on Yahoo and they're saying he had NO guaranteed money remaining. So we'd basically just be on the hook for game checks and then theoretically renegotiate

Let's hope his play improves with a change in scenery.
Some were saying he never looked the same after his ACL in 2023... Had a follow up surgery on the knee in 2024 as well.

Maybe him and Parsons will team up on rehabilitation and motivate each other.

Hopefully we can get something positive out of Diggs. Lord knows we needed something after losing 2 CB's last weekend, to fill/help our secondary room.
Just to get through these last 2 games. It cannot hurt.

I was a little concerned when Gutey traded for Parsons. I had concerns about his attitude. But thankfully it was false concerns. I hope Diggs proves to be an asset not a hindrance.

As fans, I think one of the first things that pops into our heads with big names being cut, traded or go unsigned is "Why is his team getting rid of him?". So naturally we, as fans, turn to the unknown variable of said players attitude, locker room presence, etc., basically, the unknowns to us fans. I don't recall any real "cancer" that Gute has brought into to the team, so I trust that he and his staff vet for that kind of stuff. Which makes me think that Diggs is probably fine when it comes to those unknowns. What we do know is that his play has steadily declined since his 2 Pro Bowl seasons. My guess is that Gute decided that with as thin as our CB room is in both numbers and talent, it wasn't that big of a risk bringing Diggs in and hope the change of scenery makes him a better player.

At first I was a bit dumbfounded that we claimed him off of waivers, knowing it means we pick up his contract. However, since there are no guarantees left on his contract, it was a smart move. It guaranteed that we get him over any other team and it guaranteed that we have him for the remainder of this season. It also gives us the upper hand at maybe working out a new deal with him in the offseason. If not, he gets cut and the Packers are only out the cash he got paid to play.

Diggs has ZERO dead money for us but we technically have him on contract for three seasons after this year at $15.5 / $20.5 / $21M each year.

In truth GB has zero to lose and can cut him at zero cost to us after this year or play out his contract for one, two or three years.

What would be incredible is if he takes a restructure to lower his cap, BUT take some money up front which guys typically like some money now incase injury hits or what not.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since there is no future guarantees on his contract, couldn't they basically "restructure" by tearing it up and come to an agreed upon "new" contract, that both sides agree to?

Short of Diggs suddenly reverting back to being close to a Pro Bowl corner, in the next 5 games, he will not be a Packer for the 2026 season under the terms of his current contract.

Yea they could. Honestly the $15M is not insane to think maybe we let it ride ONE year, but I also doubt it. Although he cannot be worse than Hobbs on the outside LOL

In reality its a 2026 window only UNLESS Diggs at this age in his career wants to play here, with Parsons and secure a lower reasonable deal that helps lower his future hits, puts some money in pocket up front

Is it just me or does it feel like preseason in Green Bay and I doubt Sunday changes that feeling!

So I hate to say it, he isn't our savior, at least not this season.
Why would you ask me a question on a particular player and then if you don’t like the answer claim I said he’s our savior, which I never said?

and the super strange part. Why would you ask me if you already knew the answer? A true smh move
