Could be and I don't have one reporter/news source that I really trust over another. Just like all of us here, everyone has different opinions based on different things, no exact science to it. But if teams have big grades on someone like Lasley, isn't that an indication he is high on some boards?
It would, yes. But it would explain why he suddenly appears on Kiper's board on April 2nd.
My favorite story about the ESPN guys is about McShay. Before the 2012 draft, he put out some blurbs regarding some of the top DL prospects. One of them was Whitney Mercilus. It read something like this: "Mercilus is a classic two-gap nose tackle who can eat blocks and keep his linebackers clean." I was so confused. Obviously Mercilus was a DE/OLB prospect... an edge rusher. But then I noticed a typo in Mercilus' listed weight. Instead of 6'4" 254, it said 6'4" 354. Then it dawned on me. McShay hadn't actually watched Mercilus. He looked at his measurements and made something up that fit.
I don't really trust that either of those guys have ever actually watched the guys they're reporting on. I'm sure they do most of the time. But I also think they're often throwing out cliches that fit the particular prospect's position and size.
