If Sherman goes to New England, TT should be on the next plane out of titletown. The suspense here is killing me. For them NOT to pull the trigger here speaks VOLUMES folks. It reinforces all of the shortsightedness that seems obvious on defense. What if Ron Wolf hadn't gone the extra mile and signed Reggie? This is a similar talent impact move.

Well... I guess if Wolf hadn't acquired White he wouldn't have been able to match Thompson's Packers for winning % and super bowl victories.

Sherman is a very good cornerback, but I can't help but feel like you just insulted Reggie White.

I have said before that I do not like his antics and tantrums on the field and the sidelines. That being said, sometimes I feel this defense needs a swift kick in the nuts. It is like everyone out there(Daniels excluded) doesn't want to call out a teammate even when they screw up over and over. It is football,a game of skill and emotion, which is one thing this defense lacks, emotion. Since the asking price is dropping, maybe Ted is ready to play "Let's Make a Deal" with Seattle

Please get him. A first and one of Ted's beloved comp picks is a no brainer in my eyes.

Personally, I believe the team has too many holes remaining to fill through the draft this season and that is the preferred methodology for Thompson to fill roster vacancies. Ted LOVES the draft and with rare exception he historically has preferred to accumulate extra picks each year, let alone to drop below the standard seven picks. Sacrificing draft picks plus players would be totally out of character for him. My guess is that he will covet having more draft choices than ever this season to overcome the high number of holes he has to fill on the roster (over trading for a much needed top CB).

Woodson was a better all-around player than Sherman and Thompson did not trade away any good players from the roster and/or trade away picks to acquire him. If he does so just to acquire Sherman - a locker room distraction if ever there was one and not the typical so-called "Packer people" type of personality - Murphy might have to order a DNA test to make sure it really is Ted Thompson.

Again, not a fan of Sherman's theatrics...

That being said, GO get it done, Ted Thompson.

Just saying that a lot of fans had similar reservations about Woodson at the time he signed with the Packers.
Maybe so, but the fans don't have any say whatsoever in the acquisitions made by Ted Thompson. He does not care what we fans feel would be a good transaction in the least, and Murphy/BOD also seem to be highly supportive of TT. Plus, Ted is a well-known bargain shopper. Value has always been his mantra. He may not always "hit" on his acquisitions, draft or otherwise, but he probably feels that they came at a good value. Overpay to retain his own players? Occasionally. Overpay to obtain somebody else's players? Probably never.

Unless the Seahawks find no other suitors willing to overpay for Sherman it's unlikely that Thompson would even consider participating in any Sherman "auction." Sherman would have to come to the Packers on TT's terms, not the other way around. How much does TT value Sherman is the question. It's probably not a question of whether Sherman would be a talented addition to the Packer DB corps.

I have never understood the reasoning behind posting something like that on a forum. Of course it's true but why are you a part of this board if you're not interested in other fans opinions???

I apologize for being yet another poster to have put you in the awkward position of being perceived as either a condescending, manipulative, fault-finding, last-word-seeking snob or a relentlessly conscientious searcher of posting perfection.

I think it depends on context. I did not read Sky King's post to mean that our opinions don't matter in here... He was (correctly in my opinion) pointing out that Thompson has been very clear in the past that he is not swayed by popular opinion and that he will do whatever he feels is right for the Packers. It was a prediction about what he thinks will happen. It wasn't an opinion about what he wants to happen or a condemnation of another forum posters wishes.

The price is reportedly coming down. Who knows if any of this is true, but if it is that would likely indicate that the Seahawks are motivated to get rid of him. I've said on multiple occasions that I wouldn't be in favor of paying the price tag of an elite cornerback (i.e. a 1st and a 3rd). But if the price keeps falling, there's a point at which it would totally make sense.

It can't be emphasized enough how much a corner of Sherman's caliber would improve the defense. His mere ability, obviously, but moving the current #1, 2, and 3 to 2, 3, 4 is just huge.

Not a big fan of Sherman, obviously he's a good cornerback, doesn't seem like Packer people. But maybe our defense could use a little bit of bad attitude.

No corner on the team or in the draft will be as good as Sherman this year. Packers need to win now. Trade 2nd rd pick and next years 3rd

Unfortunately I don't believe the package you suggested is good enough to acquire Sherman.

Interesting article at www.cbssports.com today. Seems word is a 3 way trade is brewing between the Pats, Browns and Hawks. Pats get Sherman and the #33 pick, Seahawks get the #12 pick( which they turn into Forrest Lamp), and the Browns get Garrapolo.

I read an article about that but saw it being spelled out as follows:

In this hypothetical deal, the Seahawks send Sherman to the Patriots, the Patriots send Garoppolo to the Browns, and the Browns send the No. 12 overall pick plus a conditional fourth-round pick to the Seahawks as well as the No. 33 overall pick to the Patriots.

I would call the Patriots the winner of that type of deal (Sherman AND a #33 for Garoppolo). I also doubt the Seahawks would spend a #12 on Forrest Lamp.

It would make me absolutely sick if the Patriots acquired Sherman by only giving up their backup quarterback.

AND the Pats would get a #33 as well! LOL

I wouldn't get too worked up, just someone having fun with a possible mock draft scenario.

If this would happen, it would just be another event in a long line of Cleveland's continuing search and failures to find a starting QB. Not saying Garoppolo will fail, but that is a LOT to give up for a backup QB. I also think the Patriots would be better off just taking the #12 and #33 for Garoppolo, they don't need Sherman.
