What would you think about bringing in Thomas Jones if its true the Jets plan on releasing him? I think he would be a viable replacement for Green but anything beyond that I dont think I am interested in. He is overdue for an injury and will only go downhill. I have heard bad things about his character but I also have heard he has cleaned that up. Not sure his interest in GB though.

Green Bay is looking for a quicker, change of pace back which is certainly the oppisite of what Jones is.

I have never liked Thomas Jones. He has had good stretches of games in his career, but I was never impressed with him even when he played with the Bears. Don't like him, don't want him.

Why Sproles over Jones? Sproles averaged 3.7 ypc, 343 yards, 3 td's. Jones- 4.2 ypc, 14 TD's, 1402 yards. In fact, why not stay with Grant, who averaged 4.4 YPC, 11 TD's and more than 1200 yards last season?

I don't think anybody is arguing about starting Ryan Grant.

What we want is a complement for Grant, someone who can be a treat to the other teams, who's a speedy back.

I understand looking for a compliment, and I agree. I just think Thomas Jones, Darren Sproles, Ladanian Tomlinson and Chester Taylor are going to command too high a cost to serve as a complimentary back.

I think Jones may be a better fit in Detroit. They need a back (since Smith tore his ACL) and Jones doesn't want to be a back-up.

If the Packers want a "change of pace" guy McCluster, Spiller, Best and even Blount are better choices to me. They are because they are younger with fresher legs and (Blount aside) offer added value as return men.
