Favre didn't play superb tonite. But, can anybody name a Vikings player that did other than maybe Harvin? In games like tonite, you have to step back and ask yourself what Brett "could" have done differently to change the outcome. His two picks led to how many points, 3 or 6???

I'm amazed that people can watch NFL football for any length of time and continually use a particular quarterback as the scapegoat.

What happens tonite if the Minnesota defense forces two more punts or turnovers on those drives that led to Arizona touchdowns? Not only does it take 14 points off the board, but it allows the Minnesota offense to play more within itself.

Two touchdowns and two picks - that's not exactly terrible by NFL standards. I'll bet half of NFL QB's would kill for those numbers on any given week.

And, because the NFL always comes down to match-up's, it is highly probably that a few of Minnesota's upcoming games will favor them - much like the 10 weeks where they won leading up to tonite.

I'm all for accountability, but it has to be within the proper context. Tonite is NOT the nite to throw Brett under the bus.

It IS the night, though, to throw the entire O-line, Adrian Peterson, and the entire secondary under the bus.

One game against last year's Super Bowl rep shouldn't worry people, but I think the Vikes were exposed a bit tonight.

Yup only led to a few points, but in reality, if he didnt throw those picks and got TD instead might have won eh?

And for the record...

I ENJOY it when Brett throws an int and people give others reasons as to why the Viks lost..but in same breath will blame Rodgers for Tampa loss, or other losses where he tossed an int at the end..

Such double standards and hypocrisy if you ask me, and thats why I bring up Bretts faults...Maybe people will finally get that it takes a TEAM to win or lose a game...

but now I see its okay to use the "what if" excuse Haus

I hope you didnt call someone out during the two Minny losses for using the what if, would look mighty ironic

Looks like if you keep changing up your blitzing scheme, it will rattle Favre. The Cards were smart coming at all different angles not giving away much with who was blitzing. Favre seemed confused on that one INT where he threw it right to the Cards Linebacker. Hopefully the Pack take notes on this game.

I think it was a combination of AP not living up to his billing and the fact that P. Harrvin maybe starting to hit that rookie wall. During the previous games P. Harvin was all over the place, last night he had a good game, but may be showing signs of slowing down. With their O-line problems that offense maybe in a serious melt down if BF has hit that 40 year-old wall too. Throw in their LBs and secondary problems, they are in worse shape than the Pack losing Kampman and Harris.

It's difficult to argue with you because you refuse to allow logic to guide your thought processes.

The simple fact is the entire Minnesota team played poorly. If they had not, they would have won the game. If you refuse to accept the facts, you're gonna have tears in yer beer this coming January.

How many times have I told you people that All Day is only Part Time this season. He is NOT the same back he was the previous few seasons. I cried from the rafters about how many no-gain runs AP will need to have before people discontinue their man-**** for his diminished skill set?

I think losing Matt Birk is having a significantly negative impact on All Day's numbers.

I AGREE that they all played poorly and that led to a loss..Dont you get it? LOL

READ THE POSTS!!

I am arguing that when it comes to Rodgers and the losses last year people solely blame HIM for the loss and REFUSE to look at how the defense or special teams collapsed in lot of those games...

Make sense now? I am trying to show comparisons between Brett and Rodgers and how people will say its a team loss, and the other he threw an int

I am actually agreeing with you

LOL

He's still third in the league in rushing. I wouldn't call that Part Time, I don't care how many "no gain" rushes he's had, he's obviously still making lots of plays. Heck, given all the "no gain" rushes, he must be making more plays than ever if he's still managing third in the league in rushing. 1100 yards through 12 games is nothing to sneeze at. As a Packer fan, I wish we had his kind of production.

I don't think that many people blamed Rodgers last season for the losses. If they did, they'd be ill-informed.

Favre had an 80 QB rating last nite. I know more than a handful of NFL starting QB's that would give their left nut for the stats Favre put up on his supposed "horrible" nite last nite.

Also, it doesn't help when morons write stories like this:

Is this the beginning of the Favre fall-off? - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports

Without proper context, we as a people, are doomed. I mean, does anybody that is sitting on the edge of his seat waiting for the proverbial "Favre fall-off" actually believe that the Arizona Cardinals are not a pretty solid team? How much pressure did Warner receive (none)? How many sacks did he fall victim to (none)? How many picks did he throw that were direct results of defensive pressure (none)? How many players did Arizona routinely drop into coverage - 8? How did Arizona manage to know exactly when Minnesota was going to run the ball and brought up Adrian Wilson in the box? (on almost EVERY running play).

So, even if there is some mystical "drop dead date" for Favre, which pundits claim is midnight on November 30th - how many of the above questions are direct results of how Favre played? (NONE). What could Brett Favre have done differently - other than throwing two picks that resulted in only 3 points - to have willed Minnesota to victory, overcoming shoddy team play and a horrible offensive game plan? (NOTHING).

In summary, this game was obviously NOT an indication that Favre's level of play has dropped off. What you saw was something that happens routinely in the NFL. Cold weather teams traveling west and not playing well.

I firmly believe that the ONLY method of determining whether Favre is the victim of the clock striking midnight is if:
-Favre tosses interceptions when Minnesota has a comfortable lead
-All Day rushes for 150 yards and Brett completes fewer than 50% of his passes.
-Favre begins missing touch throws. An example is last nite - the TD to Shank was touch BEAUTIFUL throw.

Favre remains a Top 3 NFL QB until PROVEN otherwise and that doesn't include speculation, conjecture and fabricated news stories with little factual basis.

You're letting stats cloud your judgment.

I've watched EVERY Vikings game this season and I am telling you that All Day is NOT the same running back. Whether it is mental or physical or whether it has to do with losing Matt Birk is not my point. Something is different with him.

The experts say NFL running backs PEAK at age 27. All Day is 24 and showing signs of slowing down. This is counter-intuitive. Something is amiss.

Keep writing like that and people will think you are Vikings fan. Good points all now I will wait for people to blast you. I will admit that I wonder myself on the Brett fall off. I do know after watching the game last night that by the middle of the 1st quarter Viking fans were already commenting on how "off" the team looked. Anyone who overlooks the Cardinals may be in for a shock. If they play like that the rest of the season they will be tough to beat.

I am a Vikings fan this season and until such date that Favre feels he no longer wants to play football.

No matter WHO we're talking about - Tony Romo, Brett Favre, Tom Brady ....I get EXTREMELY frustrated by people no different than me - being duped into false beliefs by journalists whose job it is, is to make sure they have a loyal readership, which nowadays means truth and facts are secondary to sensationalism.

We all tend to over-complicate the QB position. Last nite was a prime example of an opposing defense that had installed the PERFECT game plan and had the personnel to pull it off. How many open receivers did Favre miss? None. The reason Minnesota lost was because they are finding it increasingly more difficult to run the football. Now, whether that is because there is something mentally or physically wrong with AD, or whether the offensive line is not opening running lanes consistently is not the point, which is to say that if a quarterback is expected to produce MVP numbers when the defense is routinely dropping 8 defenders into coverage - well, this is insanity.

Okay. You know I am a HUGE Favre fan, but I pride myself on seeing the big picture and not being "duped" by either side. I live for the truth and I get upset and frustrated when people allow themselves to be hoodwinked, no matter what it is, politics, religion, sports, etc.

I mean, we're all capable of understanding and accepting the truth. We all have access to GOBS of information to seek out the truth. We owe it to ourselves to do the right thing.

Aaron Rodgers is a very good NFL quarterback with a lot of potential, but with a one or two issues that if he could overcome, he would be Favre, Manning or Brady - easily.

Totally agree, Rodgers has a lot to work on but if he can perfect his game I think he could have the potential to be one of the greats in this era of football.

Well, you haven't been around long enough to make the claim that not many people blamed Rodgers...

BTW, I didn't, ONLY (Rodgers had his share of fault in at least 3 games that I can think of) and I don't blame (praise) ONLY Favre against Arizona. The whole team was outplayed.

I think what most of us, well, me at least, can't stand is the double-standard BS.

What I can't tolerate is the fact that a fair number of people believe Favre can overcome ANY obstacle, be it a poor coaching staff, an awful game plan, co-players that cannot consistently play at a high level, a fierce pass rush, an off nite, etc.

Favre is not a genius and those that find success against him are few and far between, but they exist. Favre can be "tricked" and "befuddled", but the fact is, this can happen in the regular season or the playoffs. It has NOTHING to do with specific games or games "after" a specific date.

Doesn't Favre have a winning record in the playoffs? Don't his teams "usually" win at least the first playoff game and live to fight another day? How many one and done's has he had, two? Moon over Lambeau and against the Falcons when the majority of his offensive line was in the infirmary???

So, yes, you can make Favre appear pedestrian, but you have to have the "perfect" game plan and you "must" have the talent to execute that game plan, and Favre has proven that it is not easily done.
