Much like our general manager, he’s average at his job and not taking us anywhere.

The GM which literally until this year has been lights out with nearly every sizable FA signing in his tenure?

The same GM that didn’t ignore a franchise QB in the draft that fell and made about as seamless transition from an old HoF QB to a new one and stayed contenders - something not easy at all?

The same GM that convinced one of the best and most premiere players to jump ship and come to us this year?

The same GM that continues along with his staff draft quite well, with really the only critique being he has a system of draft and develop which is slower than many fans want.

Gute is an awesome GM and well deserving of a long term extension.

I get the MLF criticism and likely wouldn’t do long term deal with him at this point - likely one year deal or a two or three with both sides knowing 2026 is it if we don’t see noticeable improvement.

They are at least 2 corners away from a competent CB room.

They are two OL away from a good O-line.

They are multiple D-lineman away from fixing what we saw last night.

They have no pass rushers besides Micah.

Their RB is washed.

Their brightest spot is backup QB, and he’s on his way out.

The elephant in the room that no one wants to say out loud is that this team isn’t improving and the future doesn’t appear to be “bright”.

They went on all on Love and Parsons with their payroll. They don’t have a lot of flexibility to improve things. They have multiple holes in the boat and they lack the draft capital and cap space to do anything about it.

They’ll get some guy backs from injury next year, and other guys will be injured, because it’s football and that’s what happens.

We absolutely have a solid cap space number. And can have 20M more releasing Jenkins, and more if we walk from Gary

That’s a lot of holes, and a lot to expect to find OL help in “poor man FA” from a GM who couldn’t find OL help when he actually spent some money on it.

That was his first whiff in FA and truthfully as we all know Banks could improve in year 2. The OL is dealing with two starters hurt though and how you can question Gute and his OL ability is mind boggling….Tom and Rasheed both day 3 picks. Jenkins was an awesome OL until after injury and still a starter was Day2. Rhyan also Day2….Kinnard (solid back up ) also a pick up of his.

Belton has grown continually and looks like he could be a STUD RG and Morgan is finally getting footing at tackle and even if he doesn’t become the Tackle prospect you hoped out of a first day guy - he still could be a starter if Walker leaves until we find his replacement.

John Williams is a solid guy too that had to have surgery or I truly think sees time over Kinnard this year is also coming for 2026

Wow, that's a depressing analysis. Unfortunately, it's hard to argue with any of it. A lot can change from year to year in both positive and negative directions.

Could the Packers improve in 2026? Well the bar has been set fairly low. Could they be a last place team? If the injury epidemic doesn't subside, that's exactly where they're heading because this injury riddled team looks like a last place team.

Cutting Gary is an interesting idea but without a first round pick, there's no avenue to replace his middling production. That would entail an admission that signing him to his monster contract was a bust.

If there are good pash rushers in free agency, then perhaps it could happen. Many times, those guys get resigned after a lot of hype.

I think Kingsley has played every bit as well as Gary honestly, now I also struggle to do it with Parsons out for a time, but you can bet I’m showing Gary and his agent rep after rep of how he struggled to move this year, no longer pushing pocket and getting pushed around by WR chipping….and saying we have to take a pay cut or we cannot justify your employment anymore….

The first mistake we made last night was giving Baltimore the ball. I'm assuming we did that. The drive was a killer! Set the tone for the night.

I agree with a lot of this Adam. I felt like we went into the season, and after acquiring Parsons, with the CB group a weak spot, but that the OL and DL was ok. In fact they looked like a legit SB contender. Losing Slaton to FA and then Wyatt to injury has hurt run D, as we saw against the Ravens. So more depth is needed there.

The OL has been hit and mostly miss. Banks is ok but a bad value. Belton showed more promise in his rooki year than Morgan has showed in 2 years. Maybe that gets fixed when Walker leaves and Morgan gets to play his best position, LT. They still need depth, just like the DL.

The CB group is a disaster area, and Gluten is going to have to devote disproportionate resources (draft, FA $$$) to fix. And no, Hobbs was a swing and a miss, and expensive. He will be cut.

I disagree that RB is "washed" - and by that I assume you mean washed out. Jacobs played most of the year hurt, and the OL wasn't very good at opening gaps for him. I do expect his snap count will go down and Wilson's will go up. It would be nice to FINALLY see Lloyd. But Jacobs is the leader of the O, not Love, and just his presence makes them better. If LLoyd isn't going to cut it, take the loss and find a RB in the 4th-6th rounds.

I still think that when guys like Kraft, Parsons, and Wyatt are back, this is a contending team (for a SB).

Gluten may have to nmake some symbolic shake-ups. RB seems like the easiest to address. Keep Jacobs and add some promising rookies. If the Bears can find a guy like Monangai in the 7th round......

As for this season, we all need to be rrealistic. Personally I'd consider it a success if they get a first round win against the Bears.

Life goes on man, life goes on.

I wouldn’t call Jacobs washed up just yet but I’ve got a strong suspicion that the “wall” is coming fast.

Just a hunch but I think it’s going to be an unfortunate situation where it’s not really something we can do much to address right now but by the end of next season we’re probably going to realize it’s a problem lol

I think if we run blocked better; Emmanuel Wilson would do very well. Not as a number 1 but as a consistent contributor. I've noticed him running fast to the los lately. And running strong.

I even know what to expect from this team, we allowed 7 scores to a backup and got blown out at home. It's almost like we were teased when we pulled it into a FG, only to give up a TD and it didn't look like BAL worked hard. This team hasn't progressed, they've regressed. We added a big name and it definitely was horrible when he went down, but this defense seems to have given up as soon as that was the case. Was him being gone a huge blow? Yes, but it seems that instead of rallying around the loss, we're hearing excuses.

I still don't see Q.Walker as an effective MLB. He may have the most tackles but he is unable to hold the middle.
I'd trade him, let Gary go cuz Gute could find anyone in the draft cheaper and do as good a job. That might be true for several. What an embarrassment last night along with the bears game.
MLF style. I had some hope for him b4 the last 3 losses but now none.

You cannot trade a guy that won’t have a contract in off season with you.

It all about talent. When you lose a HOF talent like Parsons, you are going to get a lot worse real fast. There's no sugar coating that and no amount of coach speak can make up for his lost value to the team.

It's true that there isn't any amount of podium statements can't fix players being injured... but actual coaching will cause others to step up, I know this from experience. We always knew that we might lose someone, and when it happened everyone on the team was addressed in team meetings and the coaches tried to address ANY deficiencies that were there. This was definitely different, the weight of this game didn't sneak up on anyone, but a backup QB played a good part in us being BLOWN OUT at home. When the visiting team doesn't even have to punt until the 3rd quarter, that's a pretty big problem. I get that DH is a great, but that doesn't mean he should have one of the best games of his career (and again, did ANY of his TDs look hard?) at our house. I came close to posting about how others things looked, but I won't. The truth is, this type of underperformance is becoming the norm, and when this stops being the exception, something HAS to change.

Q does not have that next gear. He's fast but he runs steadily. He's not able to gun it for that last couple seconds.

Correct. Quay is very average at best. PFF actually has him 66th of 86 qualified LBs.

However, “mediocre” is “good” to us, especially when it comes to our 1st round picks, who we overrate.

I think one of our keys to victory next week, and in the Playoffs, is we need to get the ball into one of our elite players hands, or is it foot, at least once. Our record is 0-3 this season when Whelen doesn't have a punt. That statistic is just so hard to comprehend. How can that even happen???
So maybe if Whelan can punt 3 or 4 times we may win.

There’s just no toughness or bullying going on with this D, once Henry got past the D line, he was slapping the secondary around like and abused spouse, Valentines cheeks should be red as a apple

I do not believe Banks nor Hobbs can improve. But Gute tried. TThompson would have done nothing and both spots would have been filled by a mid to late round draftees or an underrated FA. Had same results but with more $$ in the bank not being used.

Hobbs is a decent slot option, but we have that position locked by Bull.

Banks I think could but I also have doubts.

It would suck but I’d support Gute cutting one or both and even playing the post June date to spread savings
