PackersInsider reported at the time on Instagram. On June 9 at mini camp Luke left the field on his own power walking with a Trainer about 30 minutes before the end of Practice.

As to his injury condition I don’t think it’s been publicly disclosed. It’s very possible this is being overly precautionary and I don’t take issue with that at all. That’s my hope for the guy.
Thanks OS. Wow June 9 was quite a while ago. I hope he heals up and is ready to go in September.

My buddy's always ask who are my two UDFAs to bet on and I was a RJ Maryland and Sturdivant guy...but with RJ going on IR I did shift my pick to Campbell ONLY becuase Brinson and Stackhouse are not locks...and Brooks in contract year sometimes is when Packers will trade a guy like him away for a Day 3 rather than play out and lose for less.
Talk about a guy flying under the radar - meaning Campbell. Interesting player.

I didn't know Maryland went on IR. What happened to him?

That’s what I believe this is all about. Over cautious because Musgrave is needed. It’s a great thing to see the packers organization prioritize the healing of players’ bodies. Understanding the goal is not training camp champ or regular season champ. We make the playoffs and enter healthy and at full stride. That’s the goal.

25 years ago I bet Musgrave would’ve been out there right now, grinding to keep his job.

Agreed. Rodgers was right in his disdain of the PS due to the injury risk in a mostly meaningless game. Jordy Nelson tore his ACL on a non-contact play in PS and missed the season. Better to keep the stars healthy and let the newer guys prove themselves.

And they're gonna need Musgrave. It will help Kraft and reduce double teams if they're both on the field.

Good lineup GBS. I don't think they'll keep 7 WRs on the roster. My guess is they'll keep 5, maybe 6. If Moore does well returning kicks in TC/PS, he'll be the 5th with Melton cut and Neyor back to the PS.

That’s a good Roster Slack

There are 3 guys who I’ll be monitoring closely that I believe 1
or 2 could surprise and make the Roster
OL, John Williams
DL, John Ford
DL, Anthony Campbell
That’s not good news for Stackhouse. Johnathan Ford (RD7 2022) can play NT as an alternative.

All 3 will need to stack impressive performances in Preseason though.

Also we’ll be able to stash Musgrave on an injury designation such as PUP, so I think that initially leaves room for one alternate named TE. Messiah Swinson (6’7” 259lb) is entering year 3 Undrafted and bounced around to the SF49ers and Cardinals, which we have strong ties to.

Haven't heard anything about Stackhouse in TC, yet. Campbell & Ford are making some noise, though. GB could field a huge DL front, if desired, of Ford @ NT, McClellan & Campbell/Brinson @ DE. Doesn't hurt that passing down DT's Wyatt & Hargrave are both 300+lbs, as well.

I think our lightest DE is Karl Brooks or Javon Hargrave at a Featherweight 305-310lb.
I Suspect they’ll keep a couple of big bodies like Ford though. Especially after getting pushed around upfront later last year. You can just see the concerted effort to get bigger. Adding Ford (338) McClellan (313) and Hargrave (307)

I thought Stackhouse would play much better than he has. I don't recall him making an impact last year, and if his name isn't coming up during TC, he's likely to be gone soon.

Likely. Personally I don’t think Moore or Melton would make the team as pure WRs. Their spots are earned on special teams with one being the kick return specialist. The other being our #1 gunner and back up returner. Between the two that’s 6. But in my perspective it’s more of a 5 WRs, and one spot special teams.

That said, both are on the smaller side of our spectrum of WRs. And o believe GB is going big this year.

Sooooo. One speculation is that Musgrave will start the season on pup. And in that case I think we fill his spot with one of the bigger WRs.

So on paper it’s 7 WRs. But really it’s 5 permanent WRs, one special teams roster spot with WR/CB depth as a bonus. And the 7th spot being another big target until Musgrave comes back.

I'm one of the ones that like preseason games. It gives me a chance to see mainly receivers, linebackers, running backs, qb, and corners/db. It's really the only way I can get a feeling for some of these guys that are on the downside of the totem pole. So for me, I'm hoping that it isn't going to be a lovefest between the announcers and the people they interview. I'm hoping they actually call the game and yell out some names when someone makes a play.

To be fair....a 2nd round pick for Josh Sweat would also be beneficial to the Packers defense LOL.....had to.

I know what you mean though.
Maybe that's a bit too much for Sweat. Not that he isn't worth it, but because we don't have a first round pick during the next draft. That would mean we wouldn't pick until the 3rd round, and considering the fact that there will be players lost through free agency, it could lead to some significant problems.

Sweat is probably worth a second, but not to Green Bay because of the impact down the road.

You missed the point of my post...

We could trade all our draft capital for Sweat and it would be beneficial for the Packers....not smart, but would benefit the 2026 Packers in the sense we are a better team with him.

So the 7th WR is likely Neyor, just based on your comment. That's ok but I'm not sure he'd get many snaps with Watson, Reed, Golden, Williams ahead of him, and then Kraft at TE. There's only one ball. Better for now to stash him on PS and move to the 53 if needed.

What do you think it would take to get Sweat? He has played most recently for Gannon, that's a plus. Parsons will miss September and some of October, also on the plus side in a trade for Sweat. Price to get him? Likely cap hit? How many years does Sweat have on his contract?

He would be a huge plus with Parsons out, and with Parsons back…..

That’s right V. The one thing that would bother me a little is imo we’ve got 1 more moderately big signing in us without getting neck high in Cap Hot Water. That’s gotta be $ spent towards Tucker Kraft.

I can’t argue with your logic and reasoning. It’s more of a personal hope.

So the way I see it.
All this anti-Lafleur rhetoric this last year. What ever that was. Anyways, the main jab was that his offense was predictable. It’s been speculated that GB used the same language and signals. Same plays for too long, and the film junkies cracked the code. We ran it a lot earlier when Jacobs got here and Love was still developing.

Lafleur answer: supposedly we are going to see a revamped offense… talk of opening up the offense, and letting Love loose.

That’s music to my ears. The coach and GM got their extensions. Now we get to see what this team they built and trained, can really do…. I’m excited.

So we seem kind of 66/33 on four conventional slicing and dicing WRs in the sub-6’ height range. And the two physical freak 6’4”220 running 4.4 and straight up scrappy.

Red zone threat. That should be our theme. Because that perfectly portrays what this group of big WRs are. A threat to the red zone.

I’m not ignoring that Melton and Shepherd were in there playing down the stretch in the end of season/playoffs, when other players were healthy.

But what I seen today was Williams has been playing some gunner.

Moore has been playing some special look plays just for him on offense.

Melton played with CBs last week, and returned back to WRs not long after.

Maybe I’m just leaning because I want GB to keep Neyor on the 53, and put Sturdivant on the PS. But it seems like if Williams becomes gunner. And Moore is the returner. And CBs don’t need Melton. All of Meltons jobs are replaceable. Being Gunner/WR/CB/ Returner…. Seemingly replaced by Moore.

As I said. I think GB should be more 50/50 with Reed, Golden, Moore being the slicers and dicers. And on the physically bigger and stronger side. GB fields Watson, Williams, Neyor.

Make it a supplement to the (only)3 TEs we keep. A shallow but potent pool of Kraft, Musgrave, and 6’7” Whyle being our blue collar Gronk in the red zone. Our #4 TEs being such a drop off that an extra Olineman or talented WR could be a better option. Damn shame we lost Fitzpatrick. He would’ve been #4 lock. Maybe he makes a mid season come back if one of our guys go down…. Or maybe an affordable veteran becomes available yet.

I remember Patriots under parcels would always get some disgruntled free agent stud. Get them cheap too usually, out of spite.

Then after that stud would play their one or two year deals. Pats would just let them go, and collect those 3rd and 4th round comps picks…. On guys they just picked up.

So I just looked and GB is speculated to get 3rd rounder for Malik Willis if he starts, and snap count. A 4th rounder for Doubs. Quay Walker A 5th rounder. And a 6th rounder for Enegbare.

So GB might not have a 1st, but they have 2x 3/4/5/6 rounds. So trading that 2nd rounder might not be too detrimental.

I’m not looking for something revolutionary. I suspect that we’ll see less inside zone and Duo, more outside zone. The outside zone is what the Shannanhan tree depends on for its bootlegs and other play action concepts. Rumor is we went away from it because Jacobs isn’t as big a fan of them.

As far as roster construction, your 7th WR isn’t going to do much, probably inactive most weeks, while your 4th TE might be on every special team and act as the part time FB.

Who knows. Would it shock me if a team gave a 2nd and got Sweat and a third back....not really. Do I think they get a clean 2nd, no. I'd bet it's maybe a 3rd clean or a 4th packaged with something else...maybe a 4th for the next two drafts type thing. Who knows.

Yeah I'd love to see Sweat in green n gold, but in addition to costing a 2nd round pick, he brings a hefty salary and cap hit with him. Kraft is the clear priority. A lot of guys are getting paid now - Watson, Reed - and Kraft will be next. And there are a few FAs like McKinney who have taken a big bite out of cap.

I just love the idea of Parsons and Sweat bringing it. Probably not in the cards though.
