Yup. Expecting them to be late round players or UDFAs.

According to http://walterfootball.com/prospectMeetings/byteam GB has brought in 15 prospects...

  • Jonathan Calvin, DE, Mississippi State (PRI)
  • Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State (COM)
  • Zach Cunningham, OLB/ILB, Vanderbilt (COM)
  • Julie'n Davenport, OT, Bucknell (SR)
  • Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama (COM)
  • Aaron Jones, RB, Texas-El Paso (COM)
  • Jonathan McLaughlin, OT, Virginia Tech (EW)
  • Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma (PRI)
  • Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA (EW)
  • Jonah Pirsig, OT, Minnesota (PRI)
  • Ryan Watson, DT, Purdue (WOR)
  • T.J. Watt, OLB/3-4OLB/ILB, Wisconsin (COM)
  • Joseph Williams, RB, Utah (EW)
  • Eric Wilson^, ILB, Cincinnati (PRI, WOR)
  • Deangelo Yancey, WR, Purdue (PRI)
Of these 5 are potential 1st rounders (Cook, Cunningham, Humphrey, Moreau, & Watt). If 22% "hit rate" is correct then one of those stands a good chance of becoming a Packer at #29 ;).

The Packers have only brought in five of those players for an official visit with the team though as they met with the others listed above either at the combine, Senior Bowl or East West Shrine game.

The Packers hosted former Miami linebacker Jermaine Grace, who was suspended for the 2016 season because of violating NCAA rules, for a visit today.

In addition the team had South Florida G Kofi Amichia, UCLA DL Eli Ankou, Eastern Washington OLB Samsun Ebukam, Oklahoma ILB Jordan Evans and Minnesota OT Jonah Pirsig in Green Bay for one of the team's official 30 visits.

That first name is interesting, in that it signifies that perhaps Green Bay is willing to take a chance on someone who has perhaps had a bit of a checkered past.

In a completely unrelated news item, both Bucky Brooks and Cris Collinsworth have Green Bay selecting Joe Mixon in their respective mocks.......:>)

Ebukam is a freak show of a pass rusher. His pro day was absurd.

It would be interesting to look at whom Green Bay brought in for a look-see prior to last year's draft.....

Thanks for the post. I noted Joe Kerridge, Josh James and Makinton Dorleant are on the list, although none of them warranted draft-pick status.

Interesting.

Interesting.

Kyle Steuck spent some time with the Packers last season as well.

In 2015, the Packers had both Ripkowski and Coxson in for pre draft visits. Rip made the team and Coxson was doing well in preseason, until he sustained a career ending head injury.

2014, I don't see any familiar names on the pre draft visit list.

Chalk this up as the second player who's tape I've looked at.

His Pro Day was freaky; his pass rush is not. His hand technique is terrible. He engages the block with his hands, his arms collapse and then he tries work off the guy with strength. These tendencies, along with 32" arms, make him a lottery ticket. There is a lot of flailing in his game; doesn't show much in the way of instincts.

He maintains pocket contain and ball awareness in his pass rush, something Capers likes.

Strictly an athlete; not much in the way of football player; in the vein of a Jeff Janis.

7th. round / UDFA perhaps, see how he takes to NFL coaching, maybe a PS guy. Best case, the measurables suggest he could have special teams utility initially.

I think 7th/UDFA is where most see him.

Here's a link to a list of pre-draft visits with the Packers compiled by Tom Silverstein:

http://www.packersnews.com/story/sp...highlight-packers-pre-draft-visits/100884378/
A couple of random observations:

Other than Mixon, one guy who will be drafted by somebody is Kenny Golladay. "Similar test numbers to Allison" is misleading. This is a big, strong, tough kid who runs 4.5 with better long speed than giddyup off the line and who shows some receiving game. If he appears on the Packer pick list in a lower round, this could be a new gunner putting Janis or Allison (who has no special teams utility) on the bubble.

They're looking at speed at LB...4 guys who run 4.45 - 4.57 in the 223 - 248 lb. range...which beyond the obvious benefit on defense comes in handy in coverage special teams which is how one of these guys might sneak on the roster.

Austin Carr is an interesting player in the New England slot receiver Welker/Edelman/Amendola mode. Lousy 40 time but very quick through the cone and shuttle with toughness and strength. Good senior year production. Carr's a bit taller than these guys at 6' and stronger with the 16 lifts; he's slower than Edelman but about the same speed as the other guys. Carr is not a Packers cup of tea. Maybe the Packers will see him in the Super Bowl. ;)
